  1. If there are legit criticisms of Rivera it would be that he seems to have no imagination and is overloyal. Gibbs at his best was over loyal, but he was incredibly imaginative and adaptable.
  2. There's the hopeful side: I can imagine an offense with McClaurin, Gibson, Logan Thomas. McKissic and and Curtis Samuels to be pretty good with "solid" QBing. There were times under Heinike where the offense was really good at moving between the 20's. So, an upgrade at QB even if we keep everything else the same probably provides a good jump in production. Mind you, Heinike also would have benefited from having McKissic, Thomas, and Samuel on the field and you saw how his production dropped once he lost McKissic. Still, that's half of the equation. I also think that the D needs to be seriously evaluated. It underperformed so badly. There, we need to get Jackson up to speed or call a defense that Jackson can play. We need to upgrade our linebackers, and get Young and Sweat to play at least as good as their backups.
  3. This season, when Washington was good they played average and when they were bad they played truly awful. There really were very few games to get excited about with the possible exception of the Bucs and maybe one other. Even during the four game winning streak, none of the previous games put me in a frame of mind where I thought this team has gotten its act together and is ready to roll. . What this suggests to me is a C-/D+ season. We need to raise both the floor and the ceiling of this team because it's not hard to imagine this team being a 3=11 team and it's very hard to imagine this team being better than 9-8.
  4. Unfortunately, I think this is fair. I was very much for winning in 2020 and getting in the playoffs even though I knew it was a one and done because I believed the value of unifying and fighting through adversity and getting a taste of the offseason would be good for this team. However, winning did not have any carryover into 2021. The team came out flat, disorganized, and looked like they'd never learned how to communicate on a football field. Because of that, I can't imagine a season finale against a team as mentally done and deficient as the Giants will propel us. I certainly don't mind embarrassing the Giants. F Mara always. I think stuffing "clown show" back into Judge's face has some emotional value though I wish we could have shoved Jerrah's words back in his face more when the games mattered. I'm also glad that Gibson and McClaurin reached their thousand yards and did it impressively. Still, I think ultimately winning doesn't help us. That said, I don't advocate players or coaches intentionally tanking. If you're on the field, you should try to win.
  5. Hive mind, I suppose. It’s more that every analysis of the position I’ve read or heard since September said this was a weak crop.
  6. I remember not wanting Haskins because it was supposed to be a bad year for QBs and I worried if we reached we’d be stuck with a bad prospect for at least three years. Here we are again in a year of bad QB prospects. I’m not opposed to drafting for need, but would caution against grabbing a QB you don’t love.
  7. I have no idea. I think that was more surrender than anything else. I think they were desperate to avoid a safety. Maybe the Giants were trying to throw the game. It looked like their D was trying. Those sneaks made no sense whatsoever.
  8. I didn't really get that sense. I think the defense was trying. Heinike had the worst game of his WFT career. He was just pressing and trying to make his case with this one last chance. It backfired on him. The Giants offense was ridiculously bad. I do admit that Golladay no effort miss of the bomb that landed an inch out of his reach speaks to your argument though. That was sad.
  9. This post isn't about the future, but just about appreciating a really good story. A year ago, Taylor Heinicke wasn't even considered good enough to hold the clipboard as a third string QB. After his showing in the playoffs against the Bucs, he wasn't good enough to be signed for decent back up QB money. Here was this unrewarded, undrafted, unrewarded kid who's fallen behind on his math homework who still wanted to chase his dream. So, he takes a bottom basement salary (which is still an enormous salary by human standards) and compiles 3,000 yards, a positive touchdown to interception ratio, and contributes to seven wins. All this with a defense that for most of the year played like crap. That's pretty remarkable. It lacks the Hollywood ending, but it has everything else. Looking back, he got to live his dream at the highest level and for a time, he made everyone a believer. Pretty darn cool.
  10. Yeah. We should have stomped them. We did smother their running game, but Heinike was so bad yesterday that the Giants were always in position to steal a win.
  11. I really think head to head should be the first tie breaker. I mean could there be a better measure of who the stronger team is?
  12. I understand the need to bemoan a win as fans, but you really can't ask players to play for a loss. I mean it's basically asking them to lose so someone can draft their replacement and cut them. A loss may have helped our draft position, but the coaches and players should always go for the win. The only way you can "play for the loss" semi-legitimately is if you sit everyone and play your back ups and third stringers. Now, you still try to win with your backups (and the giants were so inept we might have), but you really never play to lose.
  13. I think the moment beat Hienike up. He knew this was his last game to make his case and he wanted to hit every ball out of the ball park. He put too much on his shoulders and choked. He’s better than he showed today. I still believe he’s a low end starter and a high end back up.
  14. Okay, I concede. JDR had a slightly better day than Taylor Hienike.
  15. There is never a bad game to say, “F Mara.” Hey Joe Judge, you just got destroyed by a clown organization. What are you going to do next?
