Anyone going to the game in Miami?

I’m gonna make the drive to Miami for the game. Gonna make it a mini vacation and go for 5 days. Has anyone been to the stadium? What is the best hotel for the price and what is the parking situation there? Better to buy a parking pass or find a spot to park when I get to the game? Any help or advice about the stadium and good places in Miami in general would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am going, I live about 30 minutes north of the stadium.  What do you want to know?

The short version is:

The area around the stadium isn't a good neighborhood.  But you can stay in either Miami (Miami Beach) or Fort Lauderdale and still be give or take about 30 minutes from the stadium depending on where you are at.  So it depends on what do you like to do?

The closest sort of area that's pretty nice IMO is the hard rock casino area in hollywood.    you got restaurants and things to do right in the area steps from the hotel but you aren't that close to the beach.   You are right by the highway to get to the stadium about 15 minutes or so away from there.

The touristy areas would be to stay somewhere on the beach in the Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach area.  If it were me I'd stay in one of the hotels in Hollywood (just south of Fort Lauderdale) like the Diplomat -- which is really nice and typically not crazy expensive, not cheap either, or a hotel nearby (again its relatively close to the stadium).  It's a nice beach area, with a long boardwalk and a ton of restaurants.

You also aren't that far to Miami Beach if you want to go down there for a day from Hollywood.   Miami Beach is the more touristy and more expensive spot.  I like it there too but its a bit more of a hassle to get there and you are more likely going to have to navigate traffic.

On top of all that does anyone have any good guesses as to where the Saturday night Skins Rally might be held down there? Ft. Lauderdale / Miami / Miami Beach? Is three a skins bar down there that might host?

Hard call because there isn't any place really near the stadium worth doing it at.   The stadium is just about perfectly in between Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Well I’m going with my girl and we’re almost 30 lol so we would like to enjoy nightlife maybe some good restaurants and bars but nothing too wild. And going to the beaches is definitely a must for my girl. Main thing is the area. Since I’m driving I’ll have a rental to drive so basically I’d like to stay in the best area that’s also close to restaurants, nice bars, etc. Being right next to the stadium isn’t too big of a deal since we’re leaving Sunday after the game anyway so as long as the stadium is within 20-30 mins from where we’re staying that’s fine.

Miami Beach then slam dunk -- close to or on South Beach.

Any tips on a good but reasonably priced hotel there?

I don't go often to South Beach but when I go I don't need to stay in a hotel so not sure.  However, there are a ton of hotels in that area, I just looked on expedia and looks like there are plenty at a decent price.  The key is to be on South Beach versus just being anywhere on Miami Beach.  Ideally close to Lincoln Rd.

I’ll be there! Just to add on to what SIP said Ft Lauderdale is another option for you guys. Miami Beach is fun but is a little hectic, if you’d like a more relaxed atmosphere Ft Laud gives you that, with good options for bars and nightlife.

lots of good places and things to do while you are here. Great food and nightlife. I live 15 min N of the stadium and can point you in the right direction on whatever you need.

Parking pass is prob the way to go just so you don’t have to hassle with finding parking at the stadium. Getting out after the game is always a mission there so be patient. As to the rally not sure what the Skins are planning but tailgating at the stadium is usually pretty good. Should be a ton of Skins fans in the house. Anything you need keep me posted!

welcome to SFL!

I'll be there. I live just outside Ft Lauderdale. Like SIP said, the stadium is nice but in a bad area. Definitely stay in Ft Lauderdale or South Beach. Pelican Grand is a nice resort (we got married there) with just about everything you could want, right on the beach, with no hotels to the southern side of it, just clear beach.

Fort Lauderdale is good, too, i agree.  I leaned Hollywood over Fort Lauderdale because its a little closer to the stadium and might be easier to navigate if you are right on the beach. You got that long board walk area -- or as they call it there the broadwalk.   But both are good bets.  If you are going though for the hip scene and trying to impress a girl like that dude spelled out -- I'd do South Beach.  I am not a big South Beach guy myself but in that context that's probably what I'd do.

Agree with your point about buying a parking pass, though I noticed its typically expensive.  It's not hard to find parking on game day from my experience.  the parking lot there doesn't seem as big as Fedex so even getting game day parking although puts you further from the stadium is still just about a 10 minute walk give and take to the stadium.

@Skinsinparadise agree on Hollywood that’s my town, it’s where I live. You can find parking np, just thought to take the extra angst out of the gameday experience by having it set up already.

Should be a fun weekend though regardless. We should all link up at some point and throw one back pregame or rally if there is one.

Sounds good.  Cool.  I do a lot of work in Hollywood, am friendly with your Mayor among other people.

I wish.  I've never been to Florida!!!

I spent a week in South Beach for a wedding a few years ago. It literally smelled like Kobe Bryant's underwear after a double OT game, mixed with ethnic food.

Beach was lovely, but the stank was real.

I'm not going to ask.  I'm just assuming you spent a lot of time in Colorado.
