You make your selections using the machine, you print out a paper cooy (that you can review both before and after printing), then you feed the paper copy into the scanner to tabulate your vote. I am not sure what happens to the paper copy, if it's retained in the scanner in case of recount, etc. There were problems in 2018 of votes changing from O'Rourke to Cruz, so hopefully this new system will alleviate this problem. Larry Posted September 1, 2019 Share Posted September 1, 2019 Just filling in the ovals in the paper ballot, and skipping the touchscreen, seems vastly cheaper to me.
