Half of GOP Voters Ready to Leave Trump Behind, Poll Finds

As Donald Trump weighs whether to open an unusually early White House campaign, a New York Times/Siena College poll shows that his post-presidential quest to consolidate his support within the Republican Party has instead left him weakened, with nearly half the party’s primary voters seeking someone different for president in 2024 and a significant number vowing to abandon him if he wins the nomination.

By focusing on political payback inside his party instead of tending to wounds opened by his alarming attempts to cling to power after his 2020 defeat, Trump appears to have only deepened fault lines among Republicans during his yearlong revenge tour. A clear majority of primary voters younger than 35, 64%, as well as 65% of those with at least a college degree — a leading indicator of political preferences inside the donor class — told pollsters they would vote against Trump in a presidential primary.

Trump’s conduct on Jan. 6, 2021, appears to have contributed to the decline in his standing, including among a small but important segment of Republicans who could form the base of his opposition in a potential primary contest. Although 75% of primary voters said Trump was “just exercising his right to contest the election,” nearly 1 in 5 said he “went so far that he threatened American democracy.”

Overall, Trump maintains his primacy in the party: In a hypothetical matchup against five other potential Republican presidential rivals, 49% of primary voters said they would support him for a third nomination.

The greatest threat to usurp Trump within the party is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was the second choice, with 25%, and the only other contender with double-digit support.

Certainly lucky for her that she landed in a comfortable position on her outstretched arm, kept her phone in her hand, didn't drop her bags, and put her glasses down on the ground before she fell. These ****ing people, man.

Just Imagine What It’s Like to Be Anywhere Near Trump Right Now

It’s been a big week in politics with revelations galore from the House Jan. 6 committee. Former President Donald Trump’s attempts at stopping the peaceful transfer of power have been the talk of the nation—and this week’s admissions at the committee are a “pretty big deal,” says Molly Jong-Fast on this episode of The New Abnormal podcast.

But it’s not all bad news. Speaking with Molly, former presidential candidate and independent Utah Senate candidate Evan McMullin reveals that he is seeing “a weakening in Trump support across the country.”

“I think that people are tired,” says McMullin. “They are tired of the chaos and the broken politics and the extremism. They want change, but they want more constructive, effective change, not the, you know, not the extremes who have just failed to govern.”

According to McMullin, reports about Trump’s attempts to launch a 2024 presidential campaign stem from the fact that “he’s getting nervous that his support is weakening.”

McMullin notes that Trump’s popularity has plummeted in Utah since Jan. 6 and would now be about 37 percent of the vote, a far cry from his 2020 election high of 58 percent.

“A lot of people here voted for him because they wanted to vote for a Republican, but they never loved him,” he says. “If they’re given another alternative that they think reflects their positions enough or their values enough, their traditional or moderate Republican views, they will choose that rather than Donald Trump or the far right. And that in part is what gives me optimism about our future here in Utah, but what we can do as a country as well.”

Mary Trump says her uncle’s mental health conditions are “serious and they’re deteriorating. Any serious illness that's not treated gets worse over time.

“He is addicted to being at the center of attention. I’m sure he’s as riveted by these hearings as we are, but in completely different ways. And for him to feel that the focus is shifting away from him or that he’s losing power will make things even worse because he won’t confront that and process it and deal with it. He will bury it and therefore worsen his situation.”

“I can only imagine what it’s like to be anywhere near him right now. I'm sure the temper, the out-of-control narcissism must be just unspeakably difficult for people around him to deal with. Not that I have any compassion for any of them at this point, but yeah, it’s only gonna get worse from here.”

Remember when Greta van Susteren was an actual living human being?

Was that before or after she was hit in the face with a shovel? 🤔

I remember when she had plastic surgery then went to work for FNC. The surgery still didn't fix the shovel face tho. 🤭

MAGA Cable Channel OAN Could Become Impossible to Find on TV

Since officially being dropped by DirecTV, the channel’s biggest revenue source by far, conspiratorial far-right cable channel One America News has faced an existential crisis.

Talent has bolted in droves, morale is low, and billion-dollar lawsuits loom over the network’s election lies. CEO Robert Herring Sr. begged viewers to call other providers to carry the cartoonishly MAGA network and even floated a bizarre rumor that Elon Musk would buy it (Musk quickly shot that down).

And the bad news could get even worse: OAN might lose its largest remaining pay-TV carrier in Verizon Fios. The provider, which had only 3.7 million subscribers as of last fall, notified customers that OAN and the Herrings’ lifestyle channel AWE may be gone at the end of the month.

Mike Lindell Is Attempting To Prop Up His Collapsed Pillow Empire With A New Venture (And Of Course It’s Called ‘MyCoffee’)

Mike Lindell has announced his next big business venture. After focusing on sleep with his MyPillow products that recently suffered a critical blow after being dumped by Walmart, Lindell has jumped to the other side of the spectrum and will now help people wake up with, you guessed it, MyCoffee.

Lindell announced his new business venture during a recent appearance on the Right Side Broadcasting Network, and judging by his borderline incoherent, Trump-like ranting, it sure seemed like Lindell was hopped up on his own product. After touting MyCoffee and claiming “there’s nothing like it,” even the RSBN reporter couldn’t help but notice all of this sounds similar to Columbian coffee, which there is definitely something like.

Truth Social Users Are Fuming Over ‘Censorship’ on Trump’s Platform

Claims of “censorship” are flying on Donald Trump’s alternative social media platform, Truth Social.

The main point of contention among users is that Trump’s site continues to apply “sensitive content” notices obscuring some posts, including a popular anti-Biden meme that mocks the president over increasing inflation rates.

“This content may not be suitable for all audiences,” the notice states.

That content warning has also covered up a popular graphic depicting Jesus Christ and a quote from the Bible with a gray filter, leaving users fuming.

“Truth Social loves censorship,” one user wrote, whose bio on the site included the hashtag “NoMoreRINOs.”

Another pro-Trump user, “Ultra MAGA Peanut,” responded on the platform that Truth Social “should be embarrassed over this censorship.”

“Sadly, I see so many innocent posts that are marked as sensitive,” the user, @sammyrisley, wrote. “It is almost as bad as Twitter,” a further MAGA-loving user declared.

CREW MEMBERS ON JACOB WOHL’S PREDATOR DC REPORT ASSAULTS DURING FILMING

Right-wingRight-wing activists Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman are known for political stunts, including bizarre attempts to apparently engineer sex scandals around high-profile political figures. They’re facing criminal charges in multiple states over an alleged election robocalling scheme. But in recent months, employees say the pair have also been responsible for a bizarre and dangerous environment on the set of their Washington, DC-based imitation of To Catch a Predator.

Three former Wohl and Burkman employees went on the record with The Verge to speak about the third season of Predator DC, a web series that promised to ensnare high-profile sexual predators with sting operations around the DC metropolitan area. In interviews and on social media, they describe being stranded in a Maryland Airbnb under hellish working conditions, subjected to sexual assault by the show’s targets or physical assault by Wohl himself. When they complained, they allege Wohl and Burkman denied them thousands of dollars in promised payments and harassed them.

Over email, the team behind Predator DC denied the assault claim against Wohl. “Ms. Spealman invented these false allegations as retribution for her dismissal from the show,” said a statement attributed to Wohl.

It’s a bleak reminder of how the new online blend of politics and entertainment can chew up workers and how few options they still have for reporting abuse. In most cases of workplace misconduct, victims’ last resort is going public — but for provocateurs like Wohl and Burkman, all publicity is good publicity.

“They wasted so much of my time. They wasted so much of my money,” says Emma Sirus, an actor hired to impersonate a 16-year-old girl. “They physically put me through hell.”
