Attorney Who Used ‘Lord of the Rings’ to Litigate 2020 Election is Now in Charge of the ‘Oath Keepers’

An attorney who once used the “Lord of the Rings” as a litigation blueprint for a dubious and failed attempt to sideline Joe Biden via the federal courts reportedly now says she’s the leader of the “Oath Keepers.”  Kellye SoRelle told CBS News on Friday that she is running the far-right group in the absence of Stewart Rhodes, its recently arrested leader.  Rhodes was charged Thursday with seditious conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 siege on the U.S. Capitol Complex.

According to a report by Dallas CBS affiliate KTVT, SoRelle said she was now in charge of what the television station referred to as the “loose-knit group.”

SoRelle has served as general counsel to the militant Oath Keepers group, according to statements by Rhodes himself.  SoRelle is also said to have recorded a video claimed by right-wing conspiracy theorists to portray a Pelican protective case full of fraudulent 2020 election ballots being wheeled about Detroit.

SoRelle also serves as a director alongside Rhodes for a company called The Green Dragon Institute, according to corporate records cited by Rolling Stone.  Her Granbury, Texas-based law firm’s website explicitly asks potential clients to contact her if they are “having issues with the events from 1/6/2021” or if they are “being required to take the vaccine.”

In response to a tweet about an amicus brief filed in support of Donald Trump and against the Committee’s investigative processes, SoRelle tweeted that the pro-Trump attorneys “[s]hould have said that neither the house nor the executive branch were lawfully elected and that the 2020 election was void ab initio.”

“The House (which should be vacant) has no lawful or legal authority to be doing anything they are doing,” she added.

That opinion is not too far askew from a lawsuit SoRelle filed with lead attorney Paul M. Davis shortly after the Jan. 6 attack.  The lawsuit employed a series of awkward references to — and ideas from — the temporary government of the fictitious Kingdom of Gondor in the J. R. R. Tolkien novel “The Lord of the Rings.”

The Davis/SoRelle lawsuit, filed on behalf of the groups Latinos for Trump, Blacks for Trump, and several other named and unnamed plaintiffs, attempted to assert that Joe Biden was not a legitimate president and that a rightful heir to the executive branch would — like the character Aragorn II Elessar — someday return. Until then, the case brazenly argued that a federal judge should appoint a group of “stewards” from the cabinet of former President Trump to run most of the United States government from the White House. That would only occur, the lawsuit lawlessly speculated, after the Secret Service escorted Biden and his wife out of the executive residence at the order of whichever judge heard the case.

One commentator described the wild-eyed document as a blatant request “to invent an entirely new system of government.” Another called it the “single most insane request” ever presented to a judge.

Not if he's getting under Trump's skin, by out-Trumping Trump. I'm the state that I live in.

Better get used to it, unfortunately.  Looks like they're trying to tee him up to be a contender for 2024.  There's a lot of time between now and then but he appears to be a GOP darling for some reason.

Maybe 3-4 months ago, my neighbor replaced his "Trump 2024 - **** your feelings" flag, with "Trump/DeSantis 2024 - Make America Florida ".

At the time, I calculated that in order to give America the same death rate that Florida had, for the last 3 months, you'd have to kill 200,000 more Americans.

I know many Republicans that think Desantis can be controlled more so than Trump, Trump is politically damaged goods outside of his base, Desantis appeals to that base, and Desantis might appeal to "Biden/Youngkin" voters. I suspect they would secretly be pleased if Trump were to be convicted/jailed in New York, because that would clear the way for Desantis. <Edit> Sadly, I think these guys represent the "best" of the modern GOP - Karl Rove-style schemers that want to fool the voters into voting for them as opposed to stealing elections or violently over throwing the status quo.

An Annoyed Trump Reportedly Trashes His Potential 2024 Rival DeSantis: ‘No Personal Charisma’ and ‘Dull Personality’

Former President Donald Trump is getting increasingly fed up with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), according to a new report by Axios’ Jonathan Swan, trashing the governor as having “no personal charisma” and “a dull personality.”

The report comes after the two Republicans have found their names in headlines together several times recently. Thus far, Trump has been coy about whether he plans to run for president again in 2024, but has been granting interviews and having rallies again in what certainly looks like he’s gearing up for a new campaign.

Trump spoke with One America News earlier this month, and blasted “gutless” politicians who refused to say if they had received the Covid-19 vaccine booster. Among those who have refused to disclose that information: DeSantis, who awkwardly dodged the question when asked by Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo in December.

The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman viewed Trump’s comments as a clear dunk on DeSantis, who was “increasingly under his skin.” Trump’s ire, said Haberman, was that he “isn’t getting the deference from DeSantis that he wants in the pre-2024 leadup.”

Roger Stone (of course) has Trump's back:

Roger Stone Rips into ‘Yale Harvard Fat Boy’ Ron DeSantis Amid Reports of Tensions With Trump

Former Trump campaign advisor Roger Stone tore into Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on Monday after an Axios report detailed former President Donald Trump’s frustrations with the governor.

Axios reported Sunday night that Trump is “irked by DeSantis’ popularity and refusal to rule out running against him” in 2024. The report cited sources close to Trump, saying the former president has been “trashing Ron DeSantis in private as an ingrate with a ‘dull personality.’”

Stone took the criticism a step further, writing on social media, “Trump sometimes President Donald Trump hits it right on the nose. Ron DeSantis Yale Harvard fat boy can’t get out of his own way. Not smart. Not honest and not going to be president.”

Stone, known for his conspiratorial rhetoric, added that DeSantis was “An unknown congressman with a bad haircut and an ill-fitting suit until Donald Trump made him governor.”

Idaho sends MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell a cease-and-desist letter along with $6k bill

Three months after a state investigation disproved MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s accusations of voter fraud in Idaho, the information remains on Lindell’s website. Idaho government officials want it gone.

They also want Lindell to pay the state for the money it spent proving Lindell’s allegations wrong.

Secretary of State Lawerence Denney and Attorney General Lawrence Wasden sent a cease-and-desist letter to Lindell on Tuesday. They asked Lindell to “promptly remove all false statements about Idaho’s elections from your website” and “refrain from making similar statements in the future.”

“Despite knowing your statements about Idaho’s elections are false, you have not removed your ‘Big Lie’ chart and continue to perpetuate your false statements,” the letter stated.

Idaho is also coming for Lindell’s wallet. The letter requested he send $6,558.83 to the secretary of state’s office to cover the money it spent refuting his claims. The office first announced plans to seek payment in October.

The Idaho Statesman reached out to Lindell by email but received no response as of Wednesday evening.

A local businessman’s MyPillow plans have gone flat.

Roy Hanna and a group of investors opened a retail store selling the controversial bedding products brand at 4308 N. High St. in Clintonville last fall.

It closed a few weeks ago.

“I still think the location is good, but I thought the controversy would help drive sales,” Hanna said. “It had the reverse effect.”

Michael Flynn allies allegedly plotted to lean on Republicans to back vote audits

FBI agents and the House panel investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol have both learned of an alleged plan by allies of retired army Lt Gen Michael Flynn to gather “intelligence” on top Republicans to “move” them to back election audits in key states Trump lost, said ex-whistleblower Everett Stern who talked to the panel and the FBI.

Stern, who runs the intelligence firm Tactical Rabbit and is a Republican vying for a Senate seat in Pennsylvania, in multiple interviews with the Guardian said two Flynn associates with the rightwing Patriot Caucus group enlisted his help in April in a scheme to seek potentially damaging information on two Republican members of Congress to prod them to back an audit of the 2020 vote that Joe Biden won.

Stern told the Guardian he spent several hours in November telling House panel investigators about the alleged drive by Flynn associates who sought campaign finance and other dirt on Pennsylvania’s Senator Pat Toomey and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick to win their support for an audit to bolster Trump’s debunked charges that Biden’s win was fraudulent.

OAN founder begs viewers to call their cable providers after DirecTV drops his network: ‘We don’t know what we’re going to do’

During a TV spot broadcast on his own network, One America News (OAN) founder Robert Herring Sr. called on his viewers to contact their cable providers and ask them to carry his network. Herring’s plea comes after DirecTV, which was its largest distributor, announced that it would not be renewing its contract with the right-wing network.

“I’m sure by now a lot of you have heard the news that AT&T and DirecTV have decided to take us off their service,” Herring said in a video clip flagged by Media Matters. “It was a major surprise to me when I read it in the news last Friday night, as I’m sure it was to you.”

“Now we don’t know exactly what we are going to do yet. But don’t worry, we have a lot of options,” he continued. “We have always been and are still more than happy to talk to the cable providers throughout the country.”

“We would also like to ask you, our viewers, to please reach out to the cable provider in your area—whether it’s Spectrum, Dish, or any of the other great providers—and let them know that you would like for them to carry One America News.

Jon Voight Dragged for Bizarre Video Proposing a 'Spiritual Honor' for 'Our Hero' Donald Trump

It's safe to say that former President Donald Trump isn't well-liked in the entertainment industry. Whether he's railing against the cast of Hamilton or even Meryl Streep herself, the onetime cameo king has burned bridges everywhere from Tinseltown to Broadway.

But there's at least one established actor who's all-in on his support for Trump: Academy Award winner Jon Voight.

Voight rose to fame for his performance as a hustler in Midnight Cowboy, and has since performed in dozens of films and television shows over the past four decades.

But lately, Voight has gained more notoriety—infamy?—for his increasingly bizarre endorsements of Trump, as is the case for a video the actor posted to his Twitter page this week.

Posing in front of an American flag, Voight sounds like he's describing a god in the video:

Quote

"We must give applause for our hero. Yes, he's been the greatest President since Abraham Lincoln. ... He has given hope to the American people, he's given trust and love. He's a man of integrity, a man of devotion, a man who ran the entire country with great heart and soul."

It's unclear how Voight arrived at the conclusion that a man who told more than 30 thousand lies in four years is a "man of integrity," how a man who paid hush money to porn stars with whom he had affairs is a "man of devotion," or how a man who injected toxicity into news cycles daily with petty Twitter insults and unhinged diatribes could be said to have "given trust and love."
