35 years ago this week U2 released "Boy".

Lots of people love to rag on U2, which tends to happen when you get to be huge.

But these guys were friggin' amazing in their day. Defined the 80s sound for me.

I saw them many times, and they were always a fantastic show. To this day "Zoo TV" on the "Achtung Baby" tour was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in any live event.

Its why i always wrinkle my nose when people associate 8s with androgynous twerps and electro junk.

 

 

 

 

 

This one is long, but if you never saw it.... This performance is iconic of the decade, and one of the best of their entire career. It established them, and everyone watching it knew it.
Live Aid was pretty friggin' amazing. I was going to go on an all day outing with my new girlfriend at the time, and I turned it on while i was waiting for her at about 8AM and we never left.
