Gibbs Hog Heaven
Shoot, Oldfan once did an awesome thread on this with personal recollections that just painted the picture of the time. But sadly the cantankerous old bugger is currently too stubborn to come back to ask him to add again. Hail.
RFKFedEx
Thanks for sharing RF44. I didn't know we had ever lost any of our alums in military conflict. The league first cracked the million dollar mark in combined revenue in 1938; while player salaries were already 10 times the national average. Turk Edwards looks like he was beast of an OT for his day.
MarkB452
Another cool pic of the NFL starting QBs from 1961. Norm Snead (Redskins) and Sonny Jurgenson (Philly) are in the pic as are several HOF'ers. http://life.time.com/culture/how-to-take-a-group-portrait-of-14-nfl-quarterbacks-on-their-day-off/?iid=lf%7Crelated
Riggo-toni
Man, Sonny looks like he's 16 in that pic, whereas the Giants(?) QB next to him looks old enough to be his father.

Looks like it could have been shot yesterday.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
What happened to OF? Got into it with someone, took a few months ban; never been back since it ended. Hail.
Bang
For those who feel this team is cursed, consider Turk Edwards, Hall of Famer, pictured in this great slideshow. He tore up his knee running onto the field for a coin toss, and never played afterward. ~Bang
Dan T.
This is a picture of Redskins running back Dick Tuckey: First, "Dick Tuckey." Second, Dick needs a bigger Band-Aid.
Spearfeather
Great pictures. Going off topic here, but checking out some of the pictures from the 50's, ..... Marilyn Monroe really was a fine looking woman. I mean, something jumps off the page here, but it's not Margeret looking like her Clams Casino are just not agreeing with her. ChicagoRedskinsFan
"Pro football is almost a different game than college football. Its players are all experts, and they make almost no mistakes" Rings true today, especially of our beloved 2013 Washington Redskins.
DC9
My grandpa gave me a TON of sporting news magazines from the late 30's and early 40s about a year ago. I have to find a high quality scanner that is big enough to accept and scan them into pdfs and then I'll share them with every one. They are very frail right now and I'll probably only get one shot to do it right, but there is a lot of cool stuff from both championship seasons with Sammy. I'll probably go to a kinkos in a few months and knock that out.
