Mr. Sinister
Around# 300 in this thread, I was actually thinking about a rap/hip hop spinoff thread, but I'd probably shorten it to 300-400. I think that could have the potential to be very very good.
HogNose
This could easily go to 1,000 songs unlike the album thread. Let's add 500 more.... The ctrl search would have to be used constantly though to make sure we don't have repeats. I'm for it! The great thing about a songs thread is you can actually listen to every single one. I get a daily medley of songs, most of which I hadn't heard before or hadn't heard in years and years. It also forced me to go digging through my itunes to make my own choices and brought back some great memories. I could go another 500. We finished this one in less than 2 months.... With the extraordinary success of the Tailgate 500 albums list, I thought we could do this as well. Hey Sticksboi.....how about a thread title change and we'll go for 1,000

Mr. Sinister
Can't fault you for that, Santana is bad ass. I wanted Daft Punk on the list and thought this song was appropriate for the 500th one. Wow, you were actually going to post that? I mean the thought actually entered your mind? I can't talk though, as I was about ------> <----- that close to posting Waiting For A Girl Like You, by Foreigner...

Going Commando
Man, I don't listen to secular rap that much anymore, but Childish Gambino is my man. I might be a little bias because I knew him as Troy off of Community before I heard him rap, but that doesn't mean the man can't flow..... That was a good song. I've heard a little of his music before, not that song though. I think that's the best one I've heard so far. Donald Glover is amazingly talented. He's hilarious on Community. But he also has some great standup on CD and he writes for 30 Rock too. 30 Rock is probably my favorite show.

Mr. Sinister
You guy want 1,000? We'd have to start a 2nd list though, because looking at a long ass wall of text would be a bit tiresome. Maybe put the first 500 in your OP, and we can continue. My knowledge of hip hop and rap is incredibly dated. I haven't listed to a whole bunch of it since the days of Coolio. I'd have to lurk for that one. Yeah, that's why I would've shortened it. Though there are plenty of hip hop heads that post in the Tailgate, the turnout might nor be as high as it initially was in this thread.

Maybe we should try 250 more then 500 total more or are we this confident?

Mr. Sinister
Maybe we should try 250 more then 500 total more or are we this confident? Dude, I could do another 500 by myself I think we're good. Maybe we should do an official vote if you're still not sure. Are you able to add a poll to this (I'm asking because I'm pretty sure the one time posted a thread with a poll, it was added after I started the thread.) Are you able to add a poll to this (I'm asking because I'm pretty sure the one time posted a thread with a poll, it was added after I started the thread.) Yeah the poll is added after the thread is submitted, but the option to add a poll has to be selected when the thread is initially created. There are so many songs out there that another 500 could easily be added.
Going Commando
Yeah let's do 500. The fun is in the process of the project, less so the completion. I wouldn't worry about getting to 1,000. It'll happen eventually.
deejaydana
I'm down with moving it to an even grand but I think we should amend the rules to a pick every 5 choices. The thread will just sink otherwise.

The Sisko
Man, I don't listen to secular rap that much anymore, but Childish Gambino is my man. I might be a little bias because I knew him as Troy off of Community before I heard him rap, but that doesn't mean the man can't flow..... I had all but given up on the genre but guys like Glover, Kid Cudi, and Kanye have revived my interest in it. I'm down with moving it to an even grand but I think we should amend the rules to a pick every 5 choices. The thread will just sink otherwise. This has been a lot fun. I've dug through stuff I hadn't listened to in a while and been introduced to some artists I hadn't heard before so count me in as well. I also think the idea of adding the first 500 to the OP makes sense but it will require folks to search for dupes in two places instead of one. Sticksboi05
504. A Tribe Called Quest - Keep It Rollin' I would sacrifice new albums from all of today's weak and boring and non-unique hip hop "artists" to get another classic Tribe album. deejaydana
505) Do You Realize? ----The Flaming Lips These guys have undoubtedly been influenced quite a bit through drug use (and I'm not endorsing that in any way, though I'm also not criticizing ). Cool lyrics on this one and the whole cd is pretty solid. This track mighta gotten a bit overplayed but it's a song that seems to stand up well over a period of time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PusIVR9TRyI Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face Do You Realize - we're floating in space - Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
