Who gets cut for Buchannon?

Buchanon on the field would be target #1 for opposing offenses. His signing was always a bit weird to me; i never viewed him as even a quality back-up. What is his salary structure?

Many have speculated that the signing was a favor to Buchannon's agent, one Drew Rosenhaus, since we have a pretty good relationship with Drew and we want to keep it that way (Rosenhaus reps some of the biggest names both FAs and rookies).

He's D-hall lite. He gets burned on occasion but makes a few plays here and there. He had 2 ints and 2 forced fumbles last season. Not too bad for a 3rd corner.

Fair enough.. I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

I'll pay more attention to him when he comes back.

so i guess u work for all these teams and know that they plan against banks huh? i guess nobody plans for hester then because he always runs back returns.

Nope, I listen to a lot of local radio and Doc Walker mentioned it this morning on ESPN980 Morning QB. I consider him a wealth of football information.

FWIW - excerpts from the article

I could be completely wrong here, but Mike Shanahan does absolutely NOTHING without a plan, and for no reason. He didn't have to tell us that Buchanon got popped, he could have told his good friend, Adam Schefter.

Instead he chose to be up-front and mostly honest about it, when not even prompted. He did say "I've always been a big Phillip Buchanon fan," but that could be just some lip gloss. He was not happy about it.

The question that immediately went through my mind was; could it be possible that Shanahan did not want Buchanon back -- because of the suspension, or whatever the reason was -- and yet he was essentially talked in to the plan by other members of management or the scouting staff?

Remember, Buchanon had to come at a sharp discount because of the situation, and the Redskins are all about the smart money these days.`

Another thing to remember, Shanahan also benched Buchanon, and rightly so -- in New York -- against the Giants, in early December for a porous first half. The reason Shanahan gave; "Because he wasn't playing good enough in the first half, he was benched."

Are we ever gonna learn wtf Phillip did in the first place??? HGH? Anabolics? Weed? Viking Boat Sex Party?

Viagra. Hey, it is a "performance enhancing" drug.

At the rate Banks is going or in this case isn't going, he could be a surprise cut.

Yes, I may be reaching.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/post/buchanon-returns-could-play-against-philadelphia/2011/10/04/gIQAFRIELL_blog.html#pagebreak

Washington Redskins cornerback Phillip Buchanon returned to the practice field Tuesday, two days after his four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy ended. And Coach Mike Shanahan said the 10th-year veteran could play as early as Oct. 16, when the Redskins return from the bye week to host Philadelphia.......

Washington was granted a roster exemption, which will expire Monday, so they don’t have to make a move until then. But, if the team decides to activate Buchanon before Monday, they have to release a player at that time......

Buchanon said he didn’t know what his coaches’ plans were for him, but Shanahan indicated following Tuesday’s practice that Buchanon will be worked in immediately.....

“He’s working out today. Of course when he left he was a little bit sore with that shoulder. And that looked pretty good today,” Shanahan said. “I’m going to find out from the NFL exactly when we do have to make a decision to let a player go, and when we do, we’ll make that move. But [buchanon is] going to help us right away. He can help our football team. I’ve got to check out here in the next couple weeks what type of shape he’s in. Hopefully he can help us against Philly.”....

But, the Redskins defensive coaches are high on Thompson and instead could choose to part ways with a seldom-used player at another position.

Sounds like he's back & sticking around.

I'll say we cut Markus White, then PS him in place of DB Nate Ness.
