Per rotoworld http://rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football ... guess you can get this info from PFT as well.

The Redskins are "closing in" on a deal for free agent DE Cullen Jenkins, according to ProFootballTalk.

The deal isn't done yet, but we'd expect it to be finalized soon. The Redskins are yet to make their trademark big splash in free agency and landing the prototypical 3-4 end would be a start. Jenkins had seven sacks in 11 regular season games last year and was a key piece of the Packers' Super Bowl run.

Phillip Daniels released ... making room for Jenkins?

The people that ran this franchise for that past 10+ years aren't hear anymore.

So what's the point?

And in the last year they still made on average about the same number of mistakes (McNabb, how they handled Haynesworth)

Who it talking about this year??? I am talking about the history of this franchise in the last 10+

uhhhh, different team, different gm, different mentality. you sound like you have been living under a rock or something....or maybe you're a cowboys fan? not sure, but this isn't 2001, this is 2011, and if you haven't heard Bruce Allen is the GM not vinny and not danny, so please put a sock in it, kthxbye

McNabb was traded for by this front office and they were both mishandled by the head coach. Sounds like another normal Redskins year to me.

McNabb was a mistake that has been rectified. Turdsworth is a walking bag of **** whom no one can defend. He earned nothing from this FO except the criticism handed to him. There is nothing to dislike about the moves and signings so far, camp fodder or otherwise.

Jenkins really brings the defense together in a big way. He's a pretty nimble big guy. The role in a 3-4 for an end isn't to generate pressure, but he does a fair job generating some, which will free up Orakpo and Kerrigan. With Cofield, we suddenly have a solid front with the actual possibility of depth, a good rotation and a good fit for the 3-4. Improvements at safety and stability at corner now with Wilson and the defense has the potential to have the personnel to become a strong unit. Add an inside backer and another quality corner and we have the makings of a potentially good unit. Jenkins won't be cheap, so this is likely our biggest offseason move.

Now, this team MUST do something on the offensive line in the coming days.

Still, in year one we took a good defense tooled for the 4-3 and turned it into a terrible defense poorly suited for the 3-4. In one offseason we've gone from having six of 11 starters being below average for their position and another (London) being good, but not ideal for his, to a team that only appears to have ONE below average for their position starter (inside backer next to London) and one (London) not perfect, but solid nonetheless. That's strong work.
