I'm really stoked about this whole class, especially Leonard Hankerson....also loved this quote from Chris Neild "I'm not supposed to make plays, I'm supposed to allow other guys to be able to make plays..." ...love it, and that's as anti Haynesworthless as you can get, and the epitome of the high character guys we need in the locker room. Hope he's a space eater for the 3-4 for a long time to come.

Hail!!!

Let's address the elephant in the room - why didn't we draft more offensive linemen?

I'm not upset with the draft, I like it, but I would've rather had two extra interior O linemen than the two extra WR's drafted after Hankerson. But we shall see.

I sorta agree...while we addressed the DL, our OL was just as bad....I hope they plan on addressing it in FA when that happens.

For sure. If you have a NT in a 3-4 who is concerned about being a big name and wanting sacks and other garbage he isn't the guy for you. Those guys get dirty so everyone else can be the big names.

I did think the same as well, but wonder how much of that represents that Shanny has some trust in the line that seemed to start gel at the end of the season? Not saying it's the case, just throwing it out there. Could also be a free agency plan in place to add OL depth too, guess we'll just have to wait and see if and when FA ever even comes...

Obviously we didn't address every need but that tells me Mike and Bruce stuck to their board. A lot of fans are going to say Player X was a reach, because we may not have heard much about them in the media. We ended up with 2 RB's and 3 WR's but that should make it obvious Shanahan and Co. thought they were the bpa, not we that we needed 2 RB's and 3 WR's. Clearly it is unrealistic to think all 5 of these players will be on our opening day roster.

I love the competition. I love the youth movement. I love the draft. It isn't what I would have done, but I'm excited for the future of our franchise.

Can we really expect much from a NT drafted so late though? The consensus is that Jenkins from Clemson is gonna be playing DE. I would've rather gone after a "sure thing" NT with that 2nd rounder, but either way I'm glad we added 300+ pounds to the DL with the pick.

I'm just not expecting much from Nelid. To me the FO showed they have faith in Anthony Bryant at NT, which I'm still not sold on.

Agreed. No matter how down you could be about our picks, its refreshing to see so many young guys that will be competing for a spot on our team. Jason Taylor this is not.

we have to replenish this team with talent over the course of several seasons. Our talent @ WR and RB is the worst in the league. Our Dline had makeshift players to fit a 3-4.

with 3 wide out sets and a pass happy league, you can't have too many D-rushers, wide receivers and Cbs in camp. Also the trend is RB by committee.

Don't forget we drafted OT in the first round last year and have young guys in there for solid depth in cook/capers/montgomery and theres a chance mike williams comes back

There is free agency too

Neild's ceiling is pretty high. I think the issue with him is he's going to need to add some weight before taking full time duty as a NT in the NFL. For WVU he was the mainstay of that line and made everyone around him better. He's a mad run stuffer too. I think he's going to end up like our other WVU draftee from last year, Capers. He'll probably spend a year getting in NFL shape and contribute the year after. Hopefully this lockout hasn't set Capers back, cause he could be our RT this year or at least legit depth.

The only can't miss NT in this draft was Phil Taylor and he went in the latter end of the 1st. It wasn't really deep in NT at all, I mean, Kenrick Ellis went to the Jets in the 3rd round and they were bleeding at the NT position this off-season.

I'm a huge WVU fan, so take my opinion for what it's worth, but Nield is going to be solid. He's a guy that loves doing the dirty work and works his ass off on the field and in the gym. He doesn't make spectacular plays, but he demands a double team on every snap, at least in college. Was a leader in the locker room, won the 'Iron Mountaineer' as the player that worked the hardest in the offseason, all that kind of stuff. For a 7th round pick, the Skins got a nice value.

I would assume because #1 we are happy with the young OL we have developing right now and #2 if you follow the Posse on twitter a comment was made about "the plan has been given a green light" and then something about Harris and Joseph was mentioned. So that leads me to believe that Ryan Harris and Davin Joseph are priority #1 and #2 once FA is opened up.

Robinson's cut! (I know this is supposed to wait for training camp, but we might not have it :silly:)

Ha ha, it might be Kelly who gets cut. Especially since Kelly can never stay healthy long enough to prove he's NFL quality. Galloway was cut, R.Williams was cut. I think this was just filling gaps.

I think what some people are missing is that rounds 5-7 are essentially guys who fill camp spots, with the HOPE that they can make an impact on the 53 man roster. Of course, this organization want these guys to make an impact, but at the very worst it allows these guys to enter camp and compete as far as numbers are concerned.

I believe UDFA will be addressed with the OL and DL as well as Free Agency.

I would have been much happier with more OL as well but maybe they get rid of Rahbach and replace him with Will Montgormery since he proved he can play better when he filled in during the Titans game. Use one of the young guys for RT or Maurice Hurt at RT, and the rest if they learn the zone blocking style better after one year... maybe the OL plays better.

I was kinda happy with the RB's we had if the OL learned their blocking scheme's better but maybe MS is looking for something better.

I think being able to switch Anthony Bryant (NT) out with Chris Neild (NT) so neither is exhausted is a plus and having another big body like Jarvis Jenkins on the DE will create blocking problems for opponants plus adding Rak and Kerrigan coming from the LB positions will be scary.

I guess after a closer look at the WR's they picked some good ones. Hopefully AA keeps stepping up and with these other two big bodies (Hanky) Hankerson and Niles there will be a lot of receptions. A speed package could be Austin, Robinson, and Banks. Or depending on the opponant the Skins could switch up WR's on any given game to make life difficult for the opponant.

My feelings exactly. I really like what they did, but I would've liked it more if they had picked up a few decent O-linement. I was looking at Marcus Cannon, whom the assumed Genius of Bill Bellichek and the Patriots drafted. Would've been nice to have gotten him. But oh well. Guess beggers can't be choosers. We did well this year.

Also I read somewhere that although everyone wants the big heavy NT, some teams get by with a smaller one like the Steelers, whome our defense is supposedly modeled after.

We clearly have plans in free agency for that :)

That and/or we had priorities. Even with a struggling OL last year, our D was a weaker link. If we can shave some PPG against off of our average, we might be able to have a very good second year in the 34. That improvement + offensive linemen in their second year under Shanahan could give us a solid, balanced, if not unspectacular team.
