Trent Williams after 12 games

According to profootballweekly, Trent Williams has been credited with 5 penalties (2 false starts and 3 holding calls) and has allowed 7.5 sacks. Not sure how accurate that is though

He's definitely been beaten and has given up a lot of sacks. That said, he has faced some great players.

It's too early to say yet, but he looks good for a rookie.

If he stays at this level, then no, he isn't great. But certainly he should improve with more games under his belt. Avoiding injuries would help.

Clearley a great start, my only concern is will he put the work in to be great, like his talent dictates. I would have taken Bradford above him, even though I'm an OL guy. That pick however is irrealivent due to the Rams selecting him. So where we picked ya I'm thrilled to have silver back.

The teams given up 36 sacks this season, fourth worst in the league. From those 36 which belong to Trent? Can anyone make a breakdown to show who the worst linemen are

That link above says 7.5 of 36 are him. So roughly 1 out of 5. Rabach and Heyer are the worst. No breakdown needed.

Penalties are to be expected by a rookie against top flight DEs and only 5 in 10 games played is spectacular. I have a feeling that those 7.5 sacks allowed have more to do with Lichtensteiger being lined up next to him, then his actual performance.

According to the same site, Heyer has allowed 5 and Rabach 1.75 sacks (not sure how he got .75 sacks). So according to their breakdown Trent Williams is the worst lineman. I think their stats are wrong.

I thought that Bradford, Suh, and Williams would all be #1 picks in a draft if it weren't for the fact that all three were in the same year.

The only players in the last few drafts in the top 5 that would rank above him would be Jake Long, Matt Ryan, Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson and Mario Williams and maybe D'Brickashaw. But I think Williams has the potential to be as good as those top LTs.

Really because that's alot considering he missed a couple games. I'd like to see a better breakdown then this because if he truely gives up 1/5th of our total then he would by all accounts be our worst linemen which I don't think he is

Good point on the missed games, but you also have to consider that the majority of almost any defense's sacks are going to come off RDE. Williams has given up a large number of sacks because he routinely lines up against sack specialists. I wouldn't expect a guard or center to give up a huge number of sacks over a season.

DeMarcus Ware

Mario williams

Dwight Freeney

Kyle Vandenbosch

Trent Cole

and many others...

He's faced a hell of a murderer's row in his first season. He's done very well.

He's made a few rookie mistakes, but overall I've been VERY impressed with his play, his attitude, and his desire to succeed.

An EXCELLENT choice to begin rebuilding this team.

Nothing else to add. I couldn't be more impressed with the guy. So happy Shanny took him at 4 when a lot of people had us taking Okung.

He's been up and down, which is what you expect out of a rookie. But overall I love what he's shown. He's going to be another Chris Samuels for us, won't have to worry about the LT position at all the next decade.

Exactly how I see him, He plays a lot like Chris right now in pass protection and will get better at run blocking with time and work in the offseason. He's going to be something special for us there's no question about it

I pretty much stopped watching him after the Bears game, I'm comfortable enough with him for the next 10-12 years that I've stopped paying attention to him.

That's pretty much the best compliment you can give an OL, 99% of the time, he's unseen. Dude has been amazing facing Pro-Bowl pass-rushers one after the other.

He was asked to play against some very good players this year without much support around him. He wore down a bit as the season wore on, but he continued to play and play hard. He got bear by some veteran moves this year, but I think he will continue to mature and improve technique and footwork to be a mainstay on the line for years.

He was battle tested for sure and he passed with high marks. I'm really hoping that the little injuries were just from being a Rookie and not being used to the grind of the NFL. God I hope he's not injury prone! Cause the kid is special.

I agree with you but think that more deeper analysis is needed to guage Williams performance. We can't simply say that the guy who gave up the most sacks is our best linemen without being able to use more then our own eyes can we? 7.5 sacks in 10 games, comparrison Ryan Clady last season was a probowler who gave up 7 in 16 games. Does this mean that Williams is the next Clady or is this meaningless? If I had game footage I think it would be a neat project to anaylze how these sacks occured, who was beaten, and how it happened. Then we could see what the coaches see. I agree that the Guards and Center need replaced with more talented players

This doesn't add up to our sack total or say how many games each guy played in which I think is very important

Trent Williams is a rookie and at times has played as such. However, he has shown that he has the tools and work-ethic to make the best of his skills and improve with time. If we can get a couple more guys on the O-line this off-season, I think that, paired with his off-season work, he will look even better next season. I went into last draft hoping we either went with Williams or Okung (and scared ****less that we were gonna go after Eric Berry) and I have not been disappointed.

My hope is that we don't waste his time here by ignoring the interior O-line. A Samuels and Jansen in their primes were for the most part wasted because we just never brought in comparable talent on the interior. I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case for Williams 5-10 years down the road.

I would shocked if that wasn't in the cards coming this draft...

For a rookie, he's had a phenomenal season. Of course, he's had some hiccups, but that's to be expected. He's been able to go toe to toe with some of the best pass rushers in the league. If we can build that line around him and make him a company man, you're going to see some very effective Redskins offenses in the future.
