A group of redskins went to hunt a ram...

One day, when the cold nights had returned, an urgent message came to the village of the redskins. A great ram, one so large and powerful that many thought it must be some kind of monster, had appeared. The people of the village whose hunting ground the monster had invaded were afraid.

The children no longer went out to play in the woods. Each morning, when the redskins went outside to frolick, they found the huge tracks of the ram in the midst of their village. They knew that soon it would become even more bold.

The elders of the village knew that this monster must be tracked back to it's den, where it could be surprised, if they were to have any chance of killing it. And so it was decided upon that a great band of the strongest redskins, 53 in number, were dispatched to slay the ram.

Soon, the fattest and laziest of the redskins pretended to fall and twist his ankle.

"Brothers," he cried, "I have a vague injury to my lower body. You must carry me."

Another hunter shook his head and smiled. "My brother is only joking, Chief." he said. " We are going now to pick up the monster ram's trail."

But the wise Chief, called Old Bronco, was not amused. "That one may be powerful but he has the heart of a mouse and cannot be used as a hunter. Slaughter him and save the meat, we will feast upon the fat one tonight."

Old Bronco had soon decided that it was time to set up camp for the night. His hunters needed rest before they headed out on the hunt the following day. Nightfall came quickly and the band of hunters were fast asleep, except for a few who kept watch for the monster ram in case it tried to attack them.

Suddenly, in the early hours of the morning, the hunters were awoken with hushed cries from the guards! "Brothers! Brothers!" the guards exclaimed. "Awake and ready yourselves to hunt! The ram has been spotted near the river called Mississippi, he is sleeping and vulnerable! We must attack!"

And so the hunters went to attack the ram. When they neared the river they realized that the ram was not asleep at all, but he was waiting to ambush them and had lured them to the river. Old Bronco realized it was a trap and sounded the retreat!

The hunters ran from the river but it was already too late. Suddenly a group of giant cowboys appeared from behind a large rock with guns in their hands. The leader of these giant cowboys, a man named Wade, had an odd looking star shaped whistle in his hand and the hunters did not know the power it held. When Wade blew this whistle a large group of rams appeared out of nowhere and mauled the redskins. He blew it a second time, and eagles flew out of the sky to peck out the eyeballs of wounded survivors.

This dumpy cowboy named Wade had controlled all the great creatures of the land with his whistle and though it would not save him from his fate of death in a few months time, it was good enough to kill off the band of redskins.

The End
