ACW
Okay, so I don't wanna buy a new PC, but there are severa; games coming out. Would something like this work; instead of putting the stuff on my internal hard drive putting in on the external one? http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Elements-External-WDBAAU0010HBK-NESN/dp/B002QEBMB4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1276973700&sr=1-1 Thanks

Also, sometimes the enclosures are low quality, or the drive is lower quality (I think in order to compete with internal drives) -- and so they may not last as long. If you have the room in your case, and you're just needing more storage, then I'd suggest getting an internal drive. OTOH, if you recognize all of the above possible shortcomings, you need more storage (and/or you need to be able to be able to physically move the drive) -- an external drive is the way to go. I own several for storing movies and backups.
ACW
The problem with internal drives, is I don't know enough about that kind of stuff to feel comfortable messing around with that.
PokerPacker
The problem with internal drives, is I don't know enough about that kind of stuff to feel comfortable messing around with that. its actually quite simple. screw HDD into HDD place, plug in power cable, plug in data cable (most modern drives use SATA which is as simple as it gets)

Conn
Yes, ACW, they are safe to keep your porn on. Oh, wait, this is about games? I just saw ACW and jumped the gun... Just kiddin' with ya, man. :evilg:
PokerPacker
For internal? yup. some older HDDs may use IDE, which is only slightly less simple, but still something anyone can do with minimal help.

Depending on his power supply he might have several SATA plugs too so all he would need is another SATA drive and then plug that in Again, it really isn't that hard

DButz65
The HDD is under the mousepad more than likely , flip it over there should be a cover to remove to access it..and you probably have a slot for another one in there.
Mongo2365
A HD on a laptop is easy to install. Basically just pull the old one out and put the new one in. But for what you're needing an external is the way to go. They have TB ones out now for around $
Homercles82
My PC:Where's this HDD place? :whoknows: Is it mythical like the g-spot? Flip it over. There is always a cover with a picture of a hard drive on it. Takes a small phillips head screwdriver to open. The drive may have a bracket that needs to be removed by taking a screw or two then the drive slides one way or the other. Simple to remove. I would not recommend playing games off the external hard drive but transfer all other files over. Leave the games on the internal.

AsburySkinsFan
Since last summer when I got my new camera my laptop got crammed with files, to the point that it was 92% full, then last month I bought a 1 terabyte external HD and moved all my personal files over to it and my pc has run this smooth since I bought it. I got it at Wal-Mart for $100, I wasn't going to buy such a big one but the 500 gig was $75, so I figured $25 for twice the size...sounds good to me. Haven't regretted the decision one bit...or should I say byte.

First, you do not want to play most games on a laptop because of the hardware limitations (CPU, Video Card, RAM). Hence, upgrading your hard drive may not guarantee you to be able to play the games. You're really just upgrading the hard drive space and the speed of the hard drive (RPM). Lastly, the link is an external hard drive. External hard drives are used for extra storage/backup. You do not install programs on them because your performance will suffer or it won't even allow you to install on it. If you buy an internal hard drive for a laptop, this means you will have to take out your old hard drive insert your new hard drive (there is only one slot for the hard drive on a laptop). This means you will have to back up your data, re-install the OS, and re-install your programs.
ACW
swisha, so what should I do? And most games work fine; it mainly IS the space I'm concerned about. EDIT: And nobody say buy a PS3 or 360! :slap:

PokerPacker
That I am, that I am I must admit, I'm a LITTLE worried about the control scheme. Never used it before; how long to get used to it? Depends on the game and the use of the controls. Learning to point with it mostly comes down to understanding that you aren't actually pointing to a post on the screen, but rather using it much like you would use a mouse with relative position. Other than that, holding it feels completely natural and there's really not much of a learning curve. Will Link show Zelda his Skyward Sword? Oh, you'd love something called 'fan-fic friday' on another forum
