CommDownMan
@Adam_Schefter Filed to ESPN: Redskins placed first-round tender on QB Jason Campbell. Tender is 110 percent of last year's base salary, over $3.1 million. 3.1 mill is more than a 1st/3rd rounder (was last year). I'm not really sure how it's only a 1st. Burgold
1st round tender sounds like they are probably trying to tempt someone.
Hunter_R
Confused  I believe there are different levels of tenders. 1st+3rd, 1st, 2nd, and then something really low.
rd421
1st round tender sounds like they are probably trying to tempt someone. Or that they are really wanting a 2nd rounder for him and start the negotiations high....remember just bc its a 1st round tender does not mean the other team cannot offer a 2nd + whatever

Ingtar
yeah. I think it is interesting that they did not use the 1st and 3rd round tender. They are definitely going to listen to offers.
Monk8181
Hello http://nfllabor.com/2010/02/19/frequently-asked-questions-%E2%80%93-tenders-for-restricted-free-agents/ So he got the second best tender with the 110% salary since it was greater last season. As someone said earlier I think they are trying to bait someone into making an offer.
SkinSince87
makes no difference if it's 1st and 3rd or 1st because you can negotiate the trade and take a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in return
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
like the rams offering their 3rd rounder and that alex barron guy. oooo that sounds good to me! not saying anything other then shanny had a 3rd round grade damn im good! HailRiggoRanger
not saying anything other then shanny had a 3rd round grade So, bottomline: he's as good as gone. Without the 1st + 3rd tender, Redskins signal that he's not valuable and probably can be had for a 3rd (or maybe even lower).

AKM311
3.1 mill is more than a 1st/3rd rounder (was last year). I'm not really sure how it's only a 1st. Because since his salary was more than the 1st and 3rd tender, he gets 110% of what his base was last year.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
BLC: Christmas is coming early this year! this would be the best year in recent redskins history in terms of offseasons. getting a real coach, getting a real GM, and ridding ourselves of campbell. the trifecta would be complete! Ingtar
Of Campbell? I am sure it was of Campbell. Shanny probably had a 3rd round grade on him the year we spent 2 firsts to get him
fdarugar
not saying anything other then shanny had a 3rd round grade So your saying he graded him as being worth a 3rd round tender or he believes JC is worth a 3rd rounder in trade?
mnb123
http://realredskins.com/2010/03/redskins-sending-a-signal-with-campbell-tender/ Redskins sending a signal with Campbell tender? Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the Washington Redskins have assigned a first-round tender offer to quarterback Jason Campbell. If he plays under the offer, he will earn about $3.1 million in 2010.What is interesting is that the team chose not to add some $100,000 to the tender to bump it up on one that would give the Redskins first- and third-round picks as compensation should they choose not to match an offer sheet for Campbell. Movement for a first-round pick is rare, movement for a first and third is unheard of. Since the tender had to be at least 100% of his 2009 salary, the tender offer is the minimum that they could pay him and still maintain his rights. This could mean that the Redskins are signaling that they are prepared to move on without Campbell. Although players rarely move as restricted free agents, this could be different. Rarely is a 28-year-old quarterback with three and a half years of starting experience with improving statistics every season on the market for a first-round pick. With no quality quarterbacks on the market as unrestricted free agents, a team in need of a signal caller might be tempted to bite. And remember that the Redskins can choose to take less in compensation if they want to. The first-round tender sends a signal that maybe they are prepared to negotiate. If the Redskins ultimately are going to move forward without Campbell, this is the last season they can do so and get something in return for the player who cost them three draft picks in 2005. MustangSteve
So, bottomline: he's as good as gone. Kickass!!! Please someone step up with a 3rd, and hurry the hail up!
mnb123
Rotoworld: The Redskins have extended a first-round tender to restricted free agent Jason Campbell.Campbell was a first-round pick, so the club's options were limited. Still, he is the favorite to start Week 1 for Washington even if the Skins use the No. 4 overall selection on a QB. The rookie may be eased in like how Mike Shanahan brought Jay Cutler along behind Jake Plummer, and Campbell obviously hasn't been good enough for another team to give up a first-rounder for.
