stwasm
At this point, I think he should. Let's see what we have in Fred Davis and, since the season is all but over, give him time to heal and come back stronger for 2010.

But it's probably best to shut it down at this point.
DirtyDevinThomas
I think Cooley going on the IR should have already happened. We love him and he is a great player no doubt. But have we really suffered that much losing him? Fred Davis has shown his worth and deserves to play.

Cooley is the only saving grace for Campbell or was for this year. I still hope at some point we see some creativity from the O using the two TE's together. Albeit next year. Mark The Homer
Just said so on DC101. He and Zorn are meeting about it today. Next time, place a source in the thread title (I did it this time). Thanks
@DCGoldPants
Smart Move. Now who can they sign up? Looking at all the available RB's out there. I think I'd sign one to a CHEAP deal that is min for the rest of this year, and NEXT....giving them the chance to go through the offseason here. DCranon21
Good move by Cooley in my opinion. There is nothing else to play for, and he's already missed a month, and a broken ankle needs more than 4 weeks to heel. So it's probably best to shut it down. The_Godfather
Sign Chase! We're going to need an extra QB with this swiss cheese o-line.
IbleedBnG83
No point in pushing himself for a lost season. He needs to rehab to come back stronger. Let Davis get the reps so he can improve.

KingGibbs
There are two positives that come from this. 1.Cooley can get completely healthy. 2.Davis can continue (or start) to grow.

Brandon Lloyd Christmas
good move. give cooley more time to heal and come back fresh, get davis more reps, and sign a younger guy to the team for evaluation. portis needs to do this as well. #98QBKiller
It's the right thing to do. No reason to risk long-term injury to him in a season that's already lost. Let's just let Davis have his chance, he's looked good so far.
Botched
Sucks that we don't get to see any more of CC this year but it had to be done. Now we need to give Davis a bunch of catches in every game to build up his trade value.

SKINchiefer
Melted swiss Lol. I was going to say that but since it's sticky, that could be a good thing. Hmm. Burnt swiss?
BALLz
We've had some decent TE in camp the last couple years. Jason Goode was solid in the '08 pre season and I think Robbie Agnone was decent in camp this year. Maybe we'll sign one of them.

I'm sorry to see this and I'm sure Cooley is sorry to see it too, but if he's not able to contribute much for the rest of the season it is probably best to shut him down. Too bad, because he was having a really good season.
RedskinInExile
A shame, but it's for the best. We'll need him at 100% next season
Blackest Eyes
I can understand why he may be upset about heading to IR. I have a feeling if he didn't go on IR, he may play before the injury is 100% healed and risk re-injury, which would be worse.
Disco Dave
He should go on IR it's the right thing to do.
SIXX99
They should have just put him on IR to begin with. I'm as big of a Cooley fan as you will find but it was dumb to try to get him back this quick.
