WEEK 3 Expert Picks: YAHOO!, ESPN, Sunday Countdown,Madden, NBC, FOX, CBS, et al.

After losing to the New York football Giants by one score in week one the experts unanimously choose the Redskins to beat the lowly St. Louis Rams. The experts were right but because of a lack of production in the redzone many of the experts are going with the Lions who haven't won a game in the last 19.

Last week Jason Campbell looked despite not being able to punch it over the goalline. Campbell corrected many of the mistakes he made in week one by stepping up in the pocket, keeping the ball close and running for yardage when there was nothing open down the field. This is the exact kind of progress Redskins fans have been wanting to see out of the former first rounder. If not for a few dropped touchdowns (Sellers and Thomas) Campbell's passer rating would have been sky high.

To win the game the Redskins need to finally play above a team and not let them hang around for yet another nail biter. The last time the Redskins put up more than 30 points was in 2007 against the Lions. The Redskins won that Oct. 7 match-up 34-3. Campbell led the way by completing 23 of 29 for 248 yards and 2 TDs.

Last year Campbell had another big game against the porous Lions going 23 for 28 for 328 yards and 1 TD. If Campbell can have another big day the Redskins should be able to tack a record 20 straight loss on the Lions.

Wildcard: Who will replace Randy Thomas and will they be good enough to give Campbell time in the pocket to have another big day?

Pretty sad because when the Redskins were 4-1 last year, he said "color me dead wrong about Jim Zorn..." blah blah blah. The guy is full of SH**

I don't know. My opinion of Zorn has changed also. I gave him an absolute benefit that he knew what he was doing with this offense. Even when going 2-6 late in the season.

I just knew he would have this offense on track out the gate like demons out of hell. Sad to see whats happening now. A loss to the Lions may be all she wrote for him.

We still don't have a good OL, which is the key to the running game AND the passing game.

Adam Schein is far and away the biggest idiot I've ever seen in front of a camera talking about football. Unbearable to watch and listen to.

Not to mention the most annoying. I don't know if he thinks that he is being funny in his video segments or not ... if he does he is sadly mistaken.

Nearly unbelievable that all of these "experts" have picked the Lions to beat an 8-8 team who continues to play :500 ball.

Let me say it in a different way. A team that has not won a game since 2007 is now the favorite to win a game against a team which won just last week.

Lets try another way. A team with a rookie QB, is predicted to move the ball up and down the field on a defense which is giving up an average of only ONE touchdown per game.

Now I realize that the experts are looking at past history. So naturally they think that if the Redskins had problems scoring last week, they will have problems scoring this week as well. My only question about that line of thinking is: if they are predicting on PAST HISTORY...about the fact that the Lions haven't won a game in TWO years How about THAT history?

I really don't get how this pick became so trendy. Yeah, we didn't look too good our first two games, but we're still the better team. The Lions offense isn't much better than the Rams, and we held them to 7. As long as our offense can get it into the endzone at least twice this is a win.

I just don't get how experts are declaring this and STL the Lions ONLY chance at wins this season...

Could not have said it better myself.

most everybody in Washington doesn't think much of Zorn.

Does this shock you?

I personally have written some of the more scathing stuff on Zorn on the board during the off season, so am far from his advocate.

Still, yeah it suprises me that ANY major media figure calls Zorn "clueless." strong stuff and atypical for media types they generally don't go that far.

This has to be the trendiest upset pick of all time. Christ.

It makes sense though. The Lions are what, 0-19 now in their last 19 games? They've looked better, although not yet "good", so far this season. They have to win sometime. They're not going to go like the Bucs and go 0-26, and you better believe Schwartz is hungry to prove he was the right guy for the job.

On the other hand, the 'Skins have looked awful in terms of putting up points. We've scored one offensive touchdown in two games, and three touchdowns in our last five games AT HOME. There's been public strife between the team and the fans, the media (both local and national) are all over the team, and there's been no obvious marked improvement in the offense thus far.

What happens when a team on the rise hungry for a win meets a better team that looks distracted and is making too many mistakes on the field but managing to pull out games regardless? Upset.

Happens in college ball all the time. The Lions have to win eventually. I'm just really hoping it's not against us.

I;ll tell ya what shocks ME. Lately I've started to feel sorry for Zorn because everybody is throwing darts at him. He has to prove that he can LEARN from his mistakes and not just keep on making the same old set-in-his-ways mistakes. If he cannot change, then he will fail. Thats more a fact than my opinion. He really needs to change his approach to the way things are done. Having a card with certain plays and living and dying by only those plays will FOR SURE, get him fired.

Either he expands that card significantly, hires and offensive coordinator, or he needs to change his philosophy about scheming plays. But what he has been doing is NOT working and if he continues doing it again this week then he will lose to the Lions and lose his job in the process.

I personally believe we will see a few different wrinkles this weekend.

either they lose and we confirm our worst fears - which is the first step to recovery - or they win and 10,000 idiot pundits have to backpedal about jumping the gun

either way the vegas favorite has somehow become the underdog and that's it's own sort of hilarious. i hope the skins put that city out of its misery once and for all

Ok. Here's how I see it regarding this Sunday's game...

The strength of the Lions is their offense. They are VERY weak on defense.

The strength of the Redskins is their defense. They are scoring challenged on offense.

X-factors:

-Lions playing at home

-Lions getting media love that may lend confidence

-Zorn's job may be on the line

-Redskins must be angry about lack of respect from media and fans

-Redskins hold a 30-10 advantage over the Lions including playoffs

Redskins defense > Lions offense

Redskins offense > Lions defense

Redskins win 30-17

It just means that when US FANS have doubts about this offense scoring points we aren't the only ones and anybody calling us not fans are completely blind homers.

Against a team that hasn't won a game since Collins was starting for us. In this same offense we beat Dallas and Philly at their place early last year. Our defense is even better than it was last year and it was 4th last year.

But we are supposed to lose to the Lions? And nobody should question Zorn?

He had better get some of those deep balls completed in this game early, because we've already proven that 5 long 10+ play drives against a garbage defense equals 9 points at home with no crowd to make things harder.
