Pelosi Warning Against Political "Violence"

Larry, are trying to say that all the political "killings" are associated with the right wing (or conservative) of politics?

Have you forgotten all of the violent protests over the war in Iraq? Military recruiting stations bombed/vandalized? Seriously, the left wing went bat**** crazy for 8 years, but suddenly it is all forgotten and Pelosi is worried about political violence now? Any disagreement is now met with accusations of racism or fear mongering. Hmmm, what did the left complain about for 8 years whenever they disagreed with Bush? Oh yeah, they were accused of being un-American and accused the Bush admin of fear mongering.

Pot? Meet Kettle. The very definition of why we need a legitimate third party.

I'll raise you.

Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin. That's 50 million or so right there. Go read the "Black book of Communism" for further substantiation of the Left's killing fields. It's not even close.

You don't want to play this game... somebody may start bringing up a well known European right wing party :silly:

Care to put a body count on that statement? OKC bombing is on that table waiting for some "balance". Civil Rights movement is on the table, waiting for some "balance".

What he is trying to say is that Liberals are better at covering things up than conservatives.

No what he's saying last time a strong democrat was in office and the "alternative media" decided to try to weaken him by proclaiming the end of the world as we know it, OKC bombing happened. He's saying that when blacks wanted rights those more interested in "keeping with tradition" were happy to murder people over it.

If you want to talk about policy and how it's harmed people I'm thrilled to do so. You aren't going to get far there either but Larry asked a simple question and so far the man can't get an answer.

Given the timing and size of the blast, though, I’m guessing it’s some disgruntled wannabe recruit or misguided antiwar activist rather than an organized terrorist operation. The police chief seems to agree, noting, “This was not a particularly sophisticated device.” On the other hand, one takes reasonable precautions: “After the incident, the Army sent an alert to the 1,650 Army recruiting stations across the country, said Douglas Smith of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.”
GOOGLE "vandalism of military recruiting stations" and you will see plenty of links to view. The one located in Berkley is the most infamous.

Psst, the lynch mobs in the south were almost 100 percent Democrats.

I fairly certain we were talking liberal and conservative. Though "the party of Lincoln" loves to pretend their liberal predecessors were conservative republicans instead of liberal republicans. Are you one of those?

Really? So the gist of the argument is right wing murders Americans? Are you really going to link the OKC bombing to the normal right wing of politics? That isn't the fringe? And the civil rights movement was not politically divided. It was racially divided. Southern Dems were not exactly leading the call for equal rights. The Southern Dems were in charge and encouraged segregation.

Well, originally yes. But someone dared to say that we could no longer separate the extreme right wing from the right wing anymore, the lines are blurred. And then you bring up OKC and the civil rights movement. Like those can be associated with the right wing.

It wasn't the alt media that put McVeigh over the edge.:chair:

That would be the acts of that strong Democrat at Waco ect.:(

And no,I in no way condone his actions, but Pelosi and co would be wise not to push the fringe loons too far lest they push back

Ok I apologize. I had forgotten about that incident. What about the violent protests?
I would call protesters that vandalize recruiting stations violent. Violence doesn't have to be cracked skulls. When the World Bank protests occur, they are defined as violent because the mob destroys things. American protests have evolved to peaceful demonstrations. Neither side wants to see a repeat of Vietnam era protests.

Separating fringe elements of the right wing means that maybe somebody other than Nancy Pelosi has to point out the danger of their extremist rethoric. I am not seing those moderating sentiments coming from the mainstream right. Are you?

How many of those "Southern Dems" that encouraged segregation were actually left wing?

You know how many? None.

You know what happened to these racists?

Nixon decided he needed their votes, so he played to their racism by pointing out how Democrats had pushed civil rights. And he turned them into Republicans. And they still are Republicans today.

Just curious over what needs to be moderated? What is this "extremist Rhetoric" that you speak of that the "mainstream" right (whatever that is) is overlooking?

How many killed? How many attempted to kill?

How many people killed for performing abortions? How many killed for opposing them?

Now, I'll freely agree. For example, the eco-terrorists deserve the label "terrorists". Just because they don't kill people, doesn't make the thoughtful engagers of peaceful discussion.

But they don't go grab a rifle and wait around outside a construction site so they can kill a construction worker, either.

And yeah, I also know. I really hate those Tailgate exercises where somebody tries to argue that "well, this wrong over here is worse than this other wrong over there (therefore the second wrong doesn't count)".

But I do kind of think that there's a pretty firm dividing line between political violence that kills and that which doesn't. I think it's a kind of important distinction.

Well where is the line? Is the Council of Conservative Citizens, a known racial hate group, the fringe? Because I can show you a picture of their leaders with George Allen and according to the mainstream he wasn't really a racist...

Allen-CofCC.jpg

I have trouble figuring out where the extreme wing of the republican party is? They hide the hell out of the crazies but later back them up. The Christian Right certainly says some pretty extreme things and they pretty much decide elections for the GOP. Conservative talk show hosts say some wild **** every day and mainstream GOP leaders are on their shows daily and have to apologize publicly every time they call the lunatics out.

A recent poll showed that less than half of republicans believed Obama was born in the US. Are birthers mainstream? I think I remember hearing that they weren't.

So just where the hell is the extreme/mainstream line in the GOP?

What is your motivation for asking this?

How about everything that pits "us patriots/americans" againt "them socialists/communists/Nazis/marxists/liberals", as well as everything that has to do with "our country" and implying that some American Citizens do not belong in it.

1) Your point is that she'd better watch her mouth, or somebody will kill some people, and it'll be her fault?

2) You really want to try to claim that McVeigh's actions were caused by Waco, etc, and not by the right-wing sources who spent years spinning it into something it wasn't? That's some mighty selective blame you're assigning.
