The Beer Thread

Never had it on tap before, but like it out of a bottle. I'm a big fan of the quads/dubbels/dark trappist style ales. My go-to is Rochefort 10, one of the finest beers going in my opinion. Not too hard to get hold of in the UK, fortunately.

I am going to pick up the Rochefort 10 this weekend.  I found a store not far from me that carries it.  I am looking forward to trying it.  Thanks for the recommendation.

Tried a few newer (?) offerings from Great Lakes...

Steady Rollin' Session IPA is a decent session. Light, drinkable, would like a little more of the hop bitterness to come through but could definitely put a few of these away on a hot summer day.

Hop by Numbers IPA is not very good IMO.  Awfully malty for a beer with "Hop" in its name.  Perhaps people that do not like the bitterness of most IPAs would enjoy this, but I would not buy it again.

had a can of Silt brown ale (Brazos Valley Brewery)

interesting and refreshing, but unlike any brown ale I have had.....a stout taste that finishes light

gonna need to try the draft

Kudos to Sal****er Brewery out of Delray Beach, Florida.  Recognizing that plastic 6 pack rings have long posed a threat to aquatic life, they've developed an edible, biodegradable 6 pack ring made from barley and wheat left over from the brewing process.

I've never had their beer, but I'd drink a toast of it as a thank you for this innovation...

Edit: ^^^ So we can't type "sal****er"? Salt|water.  That's one hyper-vigilant obscenity filter.

Who cares?

Seriously, if the beer tastes good, I don't care who owns the brewery.

This "the brewer sold-out" stance is getting old and I don't understand what the big bruha,(pun fully intended), is.

I care and anyone who likes beer should care. Fast forward ten years and the "craft brew" section at your local grocery store will be packed with nothing but the 10 brands owned by InBev. They have such a massive influence on beer distribution, in many cases actually owning distributors, and once they own enough to give the illusion of variety they'll be able to apply a chokehold on availability of microbrews.

This is InBev's war against craft beer and should not be taken lightly.

I disagree.

I love beer and still don't care. I don't believe that scenario that you laid out will ever come to fruition.

There are just far too many small, local breweries, and far too many discerning beer drinkers to allow that to happen.

IMHO, the whole "Big-beer will kill the craft brewers" is scaremongering.

If microbrews are being squeezed off the shelves at grocery stores then yeah it will have a big impact.

Beer isn't sold in many grocery stores here, in the socialist republic of Maryland.

There are far too many small, local, breweries around, for them to be squeezed out.

A friend of ours own a liquor store, in Baltimore county. We've discussed this. Stock is driven by customer demand, not what distributors dictate. She has issues,(distributor-wise), with some liquor, (i.e. hard to find bourbons, whiskeys, etc), and zero-issues with beer.

As long as there is demand, they're not going anywhere.

Beer delivery by eagle set to soar, bird keeper says

A 'featherbrained' Vancouver Island beer promotion strategy is going ahead after an initial 'no' from the Ministry of Forests.

Phillips Brewery announced a competition that would see the winner get a beer delivered to them — via bald eagle.

The Raptors Centre in Duncan, the home of the beer-delivering eagle, spoke to the Ministry, and it looks like contest is back on.

"From their perspective, they're just trying to make sure we're adhering to our permit conditions and making sure we're doing our job to make sure the public and the birds are safe, which is fine," Robyn Radcliffe, the Raptor Centre's general manager told All Points West host Robyn Burns.

"It looks like we've come up with some solutions, we just need to finalize discussions to make sure it works from their point of view."

Radcliffe says the contest, part of a larger partnership between the Raptors Centre and Phillips, calls for an eagle named Hercules to fly to the winner, and drop down a beer in Downtown Vancouver.

Had the latest offering from The Hop Concept last night called "Galaxy & Comet" and WOW is it ever good.  About as dank as any IPA I can remember having in a while...

I had this friday night...Lost Abbey Port Brewing (who own the THC label) have opened a tasting room about a mile from my house. Every time I go there they have an awesome THC seasonal on tap.

I really liked this one a lot..

They also have a "Dank and Sticky" (winter brew I believe) that is amazing as well

I like almost everything from Lost Abbey and Port Brewing.

When I went to San Diego a few years ago to check out some breweries, Port Brewing's Pizza Port was my favorite stop.  Some of the best pizza I've ever had to go along with a ton of great craft beers.

Blue Moon Belgian Table Pilsner

Leinenkugel's Grapefruit Shandy

Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat

The Blue Moon is good. I love them, think they're underrated. Leinie's tastes like the Sunset Wheat with a grapefruit squeezed in there. **** it, I love Leinie's too. Used to hate fruit beers but over the past couple years I've learned to absolutely love them.

What if I told you fruit beer is my favorite beer?

I've had more double IPAs, IPAs, American Strong Ales, double stouts, and Belgians than you can shake a stick at. Fruit beers are just frick-all good to me. Simple ****s like the Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat. I don't care man, I LOVE that beer.

Their Belgian is crap. Lemon Shandy is good. The Apple Wheat is phenomenal and I don't give a **** what anyone says. Price and complexity aren't signs of a great beer. You can make something simple that just tastes frick-all good.

I know I talked about the Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat a lot last year, but I will be talking about it more so....yeah. Sorry in advance :)

I miss buying the Dead Rise with it. I got that combo of 6 packs damn near a couple dozen times last year. Def want to take a trip back to Maryland in the summer so I can stock up on it. Next year I'll hit it up.

Been putting away a bunch of Victory's Kirsch Gose recently.

Shoveled 4.5 tons of landscaping stone in mid 90 degree heat last Saturday and this tasted fantastic.

Decent tartness and a little salty. Like alcoholic Gatorade...
