10 under-the-radar developments in the NFL

4. The new Triplets are in D.C.

Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin became inextricably linked last decade as the so-called Triplets, a one-two-three punch of quarterback, running back, and receiver that made the Dallas offense go.

There is a new set of triplets in the NFC East, and it belongs to the Cowboys’ arch-rivals.

Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell, running back Clinton Portis and receiver Santana Moss aren’t getting nearly as much notice as they deserve, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Campbell hasn’t thrown an interception and has a triple-digit passer rating. At 944 yards through eight games, Portis has a shot at 2,000 yards. And Moss could end up with more than 1,300 yards receiving, which would be only the third 1,000-yard season in his career.

Nearly two months ago, the Redskins were written off by many after they failed to show up in the regular-season opener against the Giants. Since then, the ‘Skins are 6-1. Even if they can’t beat the Steelers when the two teams get together on a national stage to cap Week 9, the Redskins need to be taken seriously down the stretch—due in large part to the efforts of Campbell, Portis and Moss.

kind of random, but did anybody notice at the bottom when the writer was talking about Jerod Mayo of the new england patriots? he said jerod mayo was just named defensive rookie of the month for the month of november... not bad since its november 1st... props to mayo for making the decision go quickly...

No, no, no... we don't need no stinkin Cowboy references in comparison to our team. We're better than the 'triplets'....

We're the quadruplets. Coooooooooooooooley baby. He makes our passing game go.

Unfortunately Cooley being under the radar just makes the comparison stronger.

Remember Jay Novacek

Remember Jay Novacek

Cooley blows Novacek away. Take away his rookie season and Cooley has more yards in every season than Novacek's career best. Novacek's career best 6 TDs is Cooley's career worst. In 11 seasons Novacek scored 30 TDs. Cooley already had 27 in 4 seasons.

I feel the 2nd half of this season we will play even better. We are still learning this system and beating some of the best teams in the league at their house. When we really get this system down, it's going to be more then the triplets to worry about.

Add Cooley and ARE, both are kind of being looked over because of the play of JC, Moss and Portis. This team has some weapons, and when it gets these nicks worked out and gets this system down, "we will be the most dangerous team in the league".

Cooley and Randle El are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of our weapons. Just wait until our rookies finally get up to speed and healthy, we're going to have a scary good offense.

:cloud9: Ahhh I can hardly wait ...
