radskin
Just saw on ESPNNEWS that Redskins/Zorn are talking to Alexander? Is Betts out for an extended period of time?

BuddyLeeGhostHunter
...just reported on ESPN Pregame. Shawn Alexander will visit the Skins. Intriguing but I say don't pull that trigger.
Burgold
I'd rather get Marcus Mason as my thread shows, but Shaun would be cool in that he undersands Zorn's offense and he's probably still good as a relief pitcher or spot starter.

nightbird
I thought Mason had problems understanding the offense. I also thought we were all huge fans of the "Vet min + incentives" deal around here. We need someone to back up in a pinch, why the heck not have a former league MVP, especially if there's mutual respect between him and our coach? MurrayH81
You can be familiar with something like an offense or philosophy and still suck. S. Alexander hasn't played a solid game since the Seahawks win where we layed him out. IMO, he no longer has the heart to play as a back in this league, especially in this division. Using the logic that he knows the system and therefore has more value than the backs we have retained is misguided at best. A lot of the posters here are familiar with the WCO, and what the Skins have done the last 6 weeks, does that make them potential starters on offense? GoSkins561
Awesome, he is a nice back up, sitting at home watching football, knows the west coast offense and might come here for next to nothing. I have always wondered why he was sitting at home, if he stays healthy he is a nice #2. He won the MVP three/four years ago didn't he?
EnFoRcEr_uPu
Unless I'm insane, Im' 99% sure I just heard on NFL Total Access that the Redskins are looking to bring in Alexander because they're playing Betts on IR...
Aston
It's not like we got the NFL's leading rusher you know. EDIT - Didn't know Betts was that hurt. My dry sarcasm officially withdrawn.
NicholSkin
They'll see if he has anything left in the tank. Obtaining a veteran running back that knows the system in week 7 would be incredibly convenient.

I'm not taking a side on this one, because I really haven't thought about this that much. However, in answering that final question, no it doesn't. Probably because they haven't actually played in a system like that.
BuddyLeeGhostHunter
I want to say bring him in but I have a feeling we'll overpay. Plus, Alexander looked a little slow the last I saw him.

Exactly...and if Betts IS out for an extended period of time (if not on IR), Portis is definitely gonna need help. Rock might do ok, but he's no Betts. d0ublestr0ker0ll
Bring him in for almost nothing, and I have no problem with it. He might not have the braun, but he has the brain.
RonBurgundy&Gold
Always been soft. Big #s were a product of a stellar offensive line/system. Bye bye Hutchison, bye bye Shaun Alexander appearing to be good. Vet min or not....NO!
