J. Campbell, Samuels, Fletcher, Griffin, Cartwright, and K. Campbell Named Captains

The players elected captains today — Jason Campbell and Chris Samuels from the offense, London Fletcher and Cornelius Griffin from the defense, and Rock Cartwright and Khary Campbell from special teams. These guys will be captains for the duration of the year. Good thing they didn’t vote yesterday and elect Derrick Frost special teams captain, as that would’ve made for an awkward moment or two in practice.

For those that don't remember about the addition of player captains last year by the NFL. There's a max of 6 that a team can designate for the year. Last year, Gibbs decided to not single out any players before the season, but rather have different guys go up for things like the coin toss, or recognized after the game.

I love that Zorn is showing support for Campbell by making him a captain. It will greatly help his confidence. I agree with each selection.

This is all good but how is Portis not a captain? I'd be a little disappointed if I was CP...didn't the organization tell CP they wanted him to be the face of the franchise?

Maybe, but I guess the players didn't.

That seems like a lot of captains. I know it's two for each unit, but six captains? I think that should be reduced.

I am glad that Campbell got elected as captain. At least he doesn't have to look over his should right away. I thought Portis would have been elected as well. I think that he is really respected among his teammates.

I think that shows the players' confidence in Campbell as their leader. It's a big thing for a young qb to be named captain by the team. Good for Campbell.

And congrats to the rest of the guys, they all deserved it. Especially Fletcher.

I think Jason Taylor or Marcus Washington or even Shawn Springs should have been captains instead of Khary Campbell! My IMO of course. But it is what it is!

I know this. Im just saying he sucks! Griff is a good captian but I think Marcus or Jason should have gotten it seeing how Marcus has shown to be a leader of the d after we released Lavar. But if that is who the players and coaches chose then all we can do is respect it and get ready to whoop some giant ass come thursday! :gaintsuck

I would change Samuels for Portis and Khary for Thrash.

But I think it should be 1 player for O, 1 for D, 1 for ST. Total of 3, enough.

Khary Campbell tied Rock for special team tackles last season. He does NOT suck!!!
