Larry
Just occurred to me that IMO it's been long enough for the newness of the latest one to settle a bit, so I figured I'd open this idea to discussion. Me, I think I'm going to vote for Casino Royale. I didn't want to do that until I'd waited a while, because I'm often aware that feelings change over time. But now that I've waited a while, I think I've decided it's the best. Not saying that there's nothing I didn't like. But that's true of all of them. Larry
I like the one with Halle Berry Theory: If you liked the movie (as opposed to Halle Berry), you'd remember the title.
ECU-ALUM
"Octo****" has always been my favorite...I know it gets silly at times...but if it's on (no matter what point it is in the movie)...I'll watch it.
bschurm
I always like, Live and Let Die. I have always been a fan of Yaphet Kotto, but Solitaire is one of the most beautiful Bonds girls ever! But I am gonna have to agree with you on this one Larry. I think Casino Royale went beyond just settling on being a James Bond movie. It combined the lure of Bond, the technology of 21st century film making and a decent story.
ArmchairRedskin
Goldfinger Casino Royale (the chase scene at the beginning of the movie is awesome) Goldeneye (Famke Jansen....very nice)

One that I've always thought was very good, but I bet won't get many votes was The Living Daylights. (First Timothy Dalton film.) I really liked his manarisms. I thought he actually came across as dangerous. (Something that I thought previous Bonds, even Connery, didn't show.) I liked the way they showed (subtly) that he was using the girl. That he wasn't just screwing the best looking babe in the place, but was sticking with her because she was a lead. (That also struck me as Bond-like behavior.) Larry
GoldFingerYou only live twice Thunderball Diamonds are forever (Cheesy, but with Jill St. John) I was going to call you an old fart, but then I actually looked at your age. So I guess you're just retro. (I liked all of them. And I observe that all of them had great theme songs.) (Trivia: Only one person has performed more than on Bond theme song. Who, and which ones?) footballhenry
I haven't seen most of them so my opinion is obviously biased but I too found Casino Royale to be the best one so far. I seriously stop to watch that movie every time I see it on a movie channel. Great Flick in so many ways.
SkinsMaster88
Seeing all the Bond films except two (Octo**** and On Her Majesty's Secret Service), I've got to go with Casino Royale as the best. Goldfinger is runner-up and Goldeneye is the 3rd best IMO.

Sean Connery was just the best one...hands down. He was such a 60's sexist guy. So much that its almost a parody of itself. From Diamonds when the girl in the Casio comes up and says "I'm Plenty........Plenty O'Tool" and Connery says "But of course you are....." I just couldn't stop doing that impression...."But of course you are...." in that Connery voice.

IIR, the exchange was: "I'm Plenty" "Of course you are" "Plenty O'Toole" "Named after your father, no doubt." (Not that I actually tried to memorize them to act cool, or anything.) nonniey
I still think Godfinger was the best. Casino Royal's weakness is the villian - OK but nothing special. Gert Frobe played the best Bond villian of all.
Zen-like Todd
Blofeld: We can make a deal Mister Bond. I'll get you a delicatessen, made out of stainless steel. ???? Larry
Sorry. When Goldfinger tortured Bond, he did a "damsel tied to a log in a sawmill" scene with a laser and a slab of gold. (And for no apparent reason whatsoever.) (Although he did have one heck of a Bad Guy Line.) Le Chifre tortured Bond. (And he had a reason. It wasn't just a scene they threw in to show off the gadget.)
