TO signs extension with the Cowboys

explains TO's comments last week, I said then, something was in the works.....

Keep TO happy, save the locker room

I don't blame Jerrah

It's also a likely cap saving move as well. He had a large cap hit due to how they structured his contract. If they gave him a conventional contract with a signing bonus, his cap hit will probably be reduced by $3 to 4 million. Hamlin and Canty may be soon behind.

This is definitely not the same T.O.

Without the controversy that led to his departure from Philadelphia, Terrell Owens quietly received a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, team sources told ESPN's Michael Smith.

Owens

The wide receiver was slated to earn $7 million this season in the last year of his contract, but he now receives a four-year, $34 million deal. Owens is slated to earn $27 million over the next three seasons, making him -- along with Randy Moss, Javon Walker and Larry Fitzgerald -- one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league.

Owens will receive $12.9 million to sign and $100,000 of his $830,000 2008 base salary guaranteed, for a total of $13 million guaranteed. He is now under contract through 2011.

In 2004, Owens was heading into the second year of a seven-year, $48.97 million contract with the Eagles when he began squawking about a new deal. He showed up for training camp wearing camouflage, signifying he was at war with the organization, and wound up getting sent home, leading to the bizarre scene of him giving interviews while doing sit-ups in his driveway. The saga dragged on for months, ending with a suspension, then his release.

He signed a three-year, $25 million contract with Dallas in March 2005 and has certainly lived up to it, leading the team in receiving both years while piling up club records. His 28 touchdown catches over the last two seasons are more than any other receiver, and that includes Moss, who set the league record for TDs in a single-season last year.

If those #'s are accurate, his cap figure for this year would be around $4.1-4.2 million. That would save nearly $4 million in cap space and give them about $9 million in cap room at present. Hamlin, Canty, and/or a trade is coming soon.

Eh.

I'll hand it to you, guys. Doesn't seem like the same Owens. Seems like he's turned it around as much as he can.

I still hope that he fails, but it seems like you guys won with this signing.

I think T.O. realizing that his football life is in the twilight and still not having a SB ring has a lot to do with it. But he's realized this for some time now. Most people do grow up at some point in their life.

Agreed in full.

He ain't getting faster, and Dallas is not in an unrealistic position to make a real run.

NOTE: I do not believe that "most people" includes Jones.

Unfortunately, for his sake, he most likely won't ever have a ring now.

If you are referring to Pacman, we'll find out. If he doesn't get it by this point, he probably never will. Although some of his past shenanigans still continue to bite at him, so far he has been on good behavior while in Dallas.

I think he won't put himself in any bad positions until after he is reinstated.

Even if he was - the statement could apply to both Pacman AND Jerry.

T.O. has actually earned it. He was the second best receiver in the league last year. He also approached this offseason and ota's without making a fuss.

its really weird how thats so true.

AI in the NBA and trying to play straight with Denver

Moss in NE coming back because he wants to do something

Jason Williams in Miami trying to get that ring

TO in Dallas doing it as well.

All these "rogue" players end up either like Marino and the butt of SB ring jokes or they shut up, fly right and get that ring. :2cents:

or at least try, Right Junior Seau!!
