NFL Warns Cowboys CB Terence Newman

Cowboys CB Terence Newman was issued a warning by the NFL regarding his comments about going after Lions QB Jon Kitna. The league called his comments "thoughtless and irresponsible." Newman said on Sirius NFL radio Tuesday that "(Kitna) better just hope I don't blitz off the edge because I've got 15, 25, 30 (thousand dollars), however much it would be for a fine. Revenge will be sweet, definitely." The NFL will be monitoring Newman Sunday, so don't expect many corner blitzes from him.

Cowboys' Newman put on notice by NFL after Kitna comments

Posted on Newman's locker Thursday was a letter he received from the NFL after making comments about Kitna during a satellite radio interview. Newman refused comment to reporters when he walked through the locker room.

"Be advised that your comments will now compel us to carefully monitor your activities in this weekend's Cowboys-Lions game," read part of the letter signed by Ray Anderson, NFL executive vice president for football operations. "As you know, flagrant fouls may subject a player not only to fines, but to suspension as well. So conduct yourself accordingly."

What's Newman getting so worked up about? Trufant IS BETTER THAN Newman.

Dont hate on someone just because the truth hurts.

based on what? Seattle is gonna let Trufant walk cause he's not an upper tier corner. Newman is.

Both players have 0 pro bowls. Newman has 16 career ints, Trufant has 13. Newman has 64 passes defensed, Trufant has 67. Newman has 2 career TDs (one on a punt return), Trufant has 0. And I garuntee Newman has allowed less TD since 05' than Trufant. I admit I don't know how many Trufant has allowed, but Newman allowed 1 in 05', I believe 3 in 06' and honestly only remember 1 this year against Randy Moss.

According to STATS LLC, Trufant allowed 11 touchdowns combined in 2005 (five) and 2006 (six). They had Newman allowing four in those seasons, although they had him allowing one in 2005 when Parcells said he allowed none.

In 2003 and 2004, their first seasons, STATS says Trufant allowed 13 TD catches, compared to eight for Newman (with seven of those coming in 2004).

Yardage-wise, it isn't close, either. Newman averages almost 250 fewer yards allowed per season (537.0) than Trufant (779.3).

First, stop with the silly Newman/Trufant comparisons.

It's not even close. It's almost as silly as comparing Taylor and Williams.

Second, Newman RARELY blitzes and even when he does he usually doesnt get a solid bonecrushing hit on the QB.

When the game is over, this will all be moot.

You should be worried about Romo sits to pee.

Seattle's defense reads newspapers, too.
