Why can't we get our WR's into the game??

You can help out a suspect O-Line with creative playcalling, but we don't seem capable of that. You can make up for a lack of running game with a creative passing game, but we don't have that either. We do have the league's most effective sideways offense though.

The reason why our WR's are out of the mix is because of the following. When JC passes the ball downfield its either too high, overthrown or dropped by the WR. Because JC holds the ball so low and winds up to pass the ball his release is slow. The slower the release the better chance the DB has to make a play on the ball. A slow release gives the DB a chance to jump the rout which will result in a incomplete pass or INT.

JC does not demonstrat the proper execution of A and B.

Throwing Motion / Delivery

a. With the ball in a high position at the ear, it should be released with a quick and high delivery.

b. The initial movement should never be down, dropping or dipping in a long, slow wind up motion. The elbow should rise up and the ball should naturally turn out with the palm facing the sideline.

c. The off arm should begin the throwing arm action forward as it is driven hard past the hip or rotate the hips and shoulders and to bring the elbow and arm through.

d. The elbow should then lead up and over the top being as high or higher than the ear.

e. The hand should be in a ā€œCā€ position at the top of the throw to release the ball properly. If the hand gets into a ā€œYā€ position, the QB will throw a high, wobbly ball.

f. The shoulders should be leaning downward at the apex of the throw so the QB throws the ball downhill. On a deep throw, the shoulders will be slightly atan upward angle to get the ball up in the air.

g. The front foot should be planted on the ball not the heel and when the ball is released, the chin should be over the knee which should be over the ball of the foot. It should seem to the QB like a stake could be driven straight through the head, knee and foot. If the QB over strides, and plants on his heel, the shoulders will tend to be upward and a lot of high passes will result. On a deep throw, the stride should be slightly longer to get the shoulders slightly upward and the ball up in the air.

h. The ball should be released off of the index and middle fingers as the hand turns down and the thumb rotates. The follow through should then naturally take the hand to the off hip to finish the throw properly.

Are you seriously blaming our anemic offense on Campbell's throwing motion? We throw 2 yard passes because his throwing motion is too slow? Seriously? Thanks for the textbook explanation though, someone stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Our wideout can not beat press man coverage it is simple as that. The only team we had any success passing against was Detroit since the play a Tampa-2 style zone defense (Rod Miranelli is a Tampa guy). If I was playing the redskins right now I would man press coverage on all our WR until they prove they can beat it.

For what feels like the one thousanth time... ITS THE LINE.

Deep passes take more time to develop and our broken O line can not hold that long. Our running game sucks because the line is not making holes so play action does not work.

DEAR GOD, come on people, this is not rocket science. It's football 101.

Sorry guys, but I'm getting sick and tired of how our WR's can't seem to chalk up any TD catches or for that matter not hearing anyone's name but Cooley and Moss called whenever we have a completion. It seems like we always throw underneath. I fully understand you can't throw deep all the time, but what about the medium game? What's the deal? Are our WR's just not getting open or is Campbell more comfortable just dumping it underneath to Cooley? Is he not reading the entire field? Based on how the Pats corners played on our WR's, it is obvious they had no fear of us going deep.

So what's the problem? Why can't we figure out how to get our WR's more touches? Is it because our offensive playbook is just so predictable that we can't disguise anything we do? Cooley and Moss are great, but the other guys rarely get throws their way. Why can't Lloyd, who looked impressive in SF, not even make any impact with us? Is it him or is it the offensive scheme? Yes, our OL is banged up (too bad we didn't have any depth after Jansen and Thomas went down), and yes our running game is now also subpar as a result - but for pete's sake can't we work someone else but Cooley and Moss into our passing attack? Gosh forbid one of them gets injured.

Hey Joe and Al - try something other than a flanker screen for a change!

We're going to have a tough time getting by any of our upcoming opponents if we can't even get our WR's open from time to time and start getting them in the game. Yet another problem that needs addressing with our "great" offense.

Actually, that should be Cooley and ARE. Part of the problem is our WR's are not executing this season. dropping balls is inexcusable at this level, especially when many of the dropped passes have been right in the bread basket. It doesn't help that when we have had open receivers down field, they have been over thrown by ten yards.

Its poor execution by the offense as a whole. But its hard to produce when your qb is throwing too high, overthrowing open WR's and WR's dropping passes. Maybe JC should stay in a Holiday Express untill he improves that sssslllllooooowwww release.

Dude, the lions defense is garbage. You are supposed to shine on the 30th ranked defense in the league.

I disagree with your first sentence. I would say the WRs have more drops than JC has errant throws this season, or pretty darn close. Also, we are calling Mark Brunell plays for JC, which is not playing to his strengths. We need to use the middle of the field more, and we need to try to stretch the D with deep throws at least once a quarter, because JC can throw and all our WRs can run.

Amen
