PiLfan
No. Actually, given how both teams played yesterday...Pats putting up 49 without breaking a sweat, and the skins squeaking out a lucky win by the hairs of their chiny, chin chin against a one-armed quarterback...i'm surprised it's not higher. AKM311
I think this game will be a much tougher game for the Pats than people think. Do I think we will win? No, but your gonna see a physical, disciplined team out there on Sunday.
d0ublestr0ker0ll
Wasn't USC 31 point favorites over Stanford a few weeks ago? Stanford ended up turning their woes around by beating them. 17 sounds about right, actually. It's going to be our offensive line health that determines the final spread. Skinsfan4045
Yea were gonna have to keep the Pats from scoring a high amount of points like they have in all there games this year. Its gonna be tough putting up 40 points against the Pats going touchdown for touchdown with them.
ttr77
Sounds about right to me. And I hate to say it, but I'd bet on the Pats with this line...
Skinsfan4045
Also the way were playing and the way there playing 17 points sounds about right.
crank
I think it is a slap in the face for the Skins but can not argue with it the way the Pats have played this year.
RBClintonPortis
I hope the Skins take it as a slap and it motivates them and the Pats look by us. I think it is a dis to our 3rd in the league Defense, just behind New Englands, and that if I was betting I would bet the Skins vs. the line not necessarily to win. Unfortunately it isn't a great week to get Offensively healthy against this Patriots defense.
WhoRUSupposed2Be
I'll will agree that our offense is unpredictable even with JC at the center, but 17 points even for 3rd ranked D! Does anyone get the feeling that we're playing with nothing in the world to lose?
4thandGoal
17 is never a good number in the NFL..I'd take my chances on that one. The leagues too tough.
jgwyn500
2007 points per game average... Pats 39.9 Skins 20.3 I can see where they got

China
Haven't the Patriots beaten every team they've faced this year by at least 17 points? 17 is not unreasonable when you look at it in that light.
DCranon21
Well all that means is, we will just have to shock the NFL world and beat them in Foxboro. Lines don't mean nothing, unless your betting on it. And if I was a betting man, I'd take the 16.5 and the Skins.
d0ublestr0ker0ll
Nope they were actually a 41 pt fav, believe it or not. My GOODNESS. They beat that spread, didn't they?

ceviker
17 points in the NFL is insulting, even if you are near the bottom of the league. As of right now, we are a playoff team at 4-2. I understand the Pats look unstoppable, but 17 pts is ridiculous, from an NFL perspective. That being said, I understand the line. The line is made for betters, so the goal is to make a line where approx. 50% of people will bet one way, 50% the others. Since the Pats have scored more than 30 in every game and blown everyone out by large double digits, it makes sense from a statistical/historical betting persepective. Still, I hope the 'Skins use that as motivation. Let's shock the world.
RonJeremy
The point spread is used by Vegas to keep the money even on both sides of the line...it is not a measure of how much better one team is then the other. The line may go higher if people keep taking the Patriots.

Yeah, I can understand the motivation behind the line; furthermore, are we the first team where this line has been a 17 pt. spread?
Taylor 36
If our o-line isn't in better shape, I'd say 17 points is generous to us.

REDSKINFANSINCE72
It will probably be close thru the 1st quarter; however, when our offense starts their 3 and outs, our defense stays out on the field longer and longer (remember the Giants, the Packers and the Cardinals?). By that time, they are so tired they are unable to stop the Patriots. That is when the Patriots will start pulling away and won't have any problems beating the 17 point spread. I think it will be ugly at the end of the 3rd quarter. The only way to stop the Patriots is to have ball control and we don't have an offense that can accomplish anything that close to ball control.
