NewAgeSkins
I STILL can't believe we gave up a future hall of famer Champ Bailey...I mean, his initials are CB...how can you go wrong? Maybe he didn't want to play here?

asnpcwiz
Maybe he didn't want to play here? Nowadays players will "want" to play for whoever pays them the most. There are some exceptions, but I don't think CB was the case.
argentina_redskins
Carlos Rogers is clearly our #2 CB.
Riggo-toni
Fred Rogers is the starter, with Carlos Smoot pencilled in as the backup....but that could change.
Riggo-toni
I STILL can't believe we gave up a future hall of famer Champ Bailey...I mean, his initials are CB...how can you go wrong? Actually his REAL initials are RB, which by your logic might be why we had to trade him for Portis.
worstSeat
my only problem with carlos is his lack of speed which usually results in bigger cushions I don't think it's speed anymore. Williams had Smoot -- so let's now officially make that everyone -- often starting off with huge cushions in the preseason. I'm ready to pin the easy 5-7 yard pass on first down due to the cushion on the coaching. I'm not saying Williams is necessarily wrong to do it. Perhaps this is to help minimize the damage from a missed blitz package, etc. Just saying I'd never noticed cushions for the Skins as large as they've been since Williams showed up, and he's gone through enough people I don't think there's a "personnel" excuse any more. Veretax
Two thoughts: 1 who is to say we don't start off in a Nickel package to throw the opposition off? 2 you are assuming we start Springs. You never know what could happen, Springs might sit the first series or something.
worstSeat
The more I read this thread, the more I wonder how we're able to completely ignore what Smoot did for the Vikes.
The Full Monty
I haven't given up on Stonehands just yet. Yeah it's a big difference between Fred Smoot pushing Carlos Rogers instead of Kenny Wright and Mike Rumph. Worst CB depth of all time last year.
flexxskins
my only problem with carlos is his lack of speed which usually results in bigger cushions "Lack of speed?" I was under the impression that Rogers was always known for his speed. I've actually seen him lose coverage, regain coverage and make a play on the ball because of his speed.I don't know, maybe he was covering slow WR's those days. :whoknows:

sikizler
Really? I agree if you mean he struggled with his "hands" The guy had 17 pass deflects. That's huge and half of those arguably should have been picks. No way does he not start. He didn't struggle at all last year other that the hands thing, but that aside he's fast as lightning, tackles out of his mind, and presses better than any corner in the league IMO (or he's at least as good of a presser as anyone in the league). Honestly, Smoot can't hold Rogers' jock when Rogers is playing well, but I like Smooty as our Nickel and backup guy. Carlos gets the start, no doubt. HTTR This reminds me of when 'los said in the Post that he would have been a Pro Bowler had he held on to some of those balls. He showed flashes of brilliance against Carolina and a very good passing team in New Orleans but what about all of those times he had receivers running past him to the end zone. That being said, as another poster pointed out, Smoot did struggle in Minnesota. Carlos will be on a very short leash but we need him to be more consistent, especially with the lack of durability from our #1.
Touchdown Redskins
Who's your neighbor NOW, Miami???? Hahaha! Well played. A quote from the departed: “Propel, propel, propel your craft softly down liquid solution. Ecstatically, ecstatically, ecstatically, ecstatically, existence is simply illusion.” What???
