ccsl2
Simply put, who is the better actor in your opinion? I go with Dinero. He has played every type of character except a woman and a black man.

Not sure who Dinero is (Mexican actor?) but De Niro is a pretty good actor too

Die Hard
Pacino. Not even close. I don't even find De Niro mildly entertaining.

ntotoro
Pacino. I enjoy DeNiro, but not anywhere near the same level, especially because of the last few things DeNiro has done. When I think Pacino, I think Michael Corleone, Frank Serpico, Sonny Wortzik... it goes on and on. Although DeNiro was equally good as young Vito Andolini/Corleone and in Once Upon A Time in America. He was banging Charmaine Sinclair for a while, too, so that has to stand for something...
Larry
De Niero. (Although, I caught a bit of the Pacino show last night, and I liked Robin William's comment that "Pacino is what you get if you put De Niero in the dryer.")
DCsportsfan53
It's hard to choose, they're both GREAT actors, but I'll go with De Niro just because I think he can play a much more diverse set of roles. Pacino is always the hot headed angry guy, usually a cop or a bad guy, one of the two, whereas De Niro has played everything from a gun toting lunatic, to a mobster, to a mentally handicapped person. He's played so many different roles and played them all extremely convincingly. Ronin is one my favorite all time movies, I thought he great in that one, not to mention all the ones everyone thinks of when they think of his career. #98QBKiller
That's a close call but I'm going to say De Niro. Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Cape Fear, Raging Bull, Casino, and he would've taken the role that Jack Nicholson played in the Departed (De Niro would have been better IMO) but he was working on something else. Pacino? He was in two classic movies; The Godfather and Scarface, so you have to respect him. But, I just like De Niro better as an actor.

Serpico... ? Dog Day Afternoon... ? ...and Justice for All... ? Scarface is a pop-culture pimple on the ass of Pacino's career, popular only because people who glamorize the "gangsta'" lifestyle embrace it. Author! and Carlito's Way. He even made Dick Tracy bearable. :applause: For those that mistakenly think Al hasn't had any truly GREAT performances in a while, check out Donnie Brasco and Insomnia. The guy is amazing. Pacino is my all-time fave, I don't think it's right to make a choice in this debate. These two guys are THE heavyweights in modern Hollywood. They are currently making a movie together, btw. I forget the title but it was mentioned and verified in another thread.

All 3 of those movies still sit in the shadow of The Godfather...and to the next poster, I haven't seen Carlito's Way it's on my "greatest movies I haven't seen list." *Edit: Also, I agree about the Scarface thing to some degree. It is every gangster wannabe's favorite movie, but it's still a good film.
