Brandon Lloyd Christmas
will that rookie ever see the field in '07 or will a 50 year old vet start in his place?
H-O-G
ill go with the 50 year old vet. whoever the rookie we draft is, he will not be smart enough to start his first season, we will sit him for 2 seasons and let him get MINIMAL time on special teams. Brandon Lloyd Christmas
what are the chances we trade some of our players for draft picks? archuleta for a 6th rounder sounds awesome to me.
phatboy41
I don't know I'm still completely confused as to who they are going to draft, there is an argument to draft at least 3 positions on defense in the first round and each argument is viable. phishisthegreatstuff
yea we need 3 positions on defense: DE, LB, and CB If we can get 2 of them via free agency then we draft the missing one. Or maybe we trade down get more picks and draft a few of them. I say its a must to get lance briggs as our starting mlb. then move marshall back to wlb or start rocky. Also getting nate clements would be huge cause then we could possibly move springs to safets or just have 3 solid cbs. finally with our first round pick drafting gains adams would be sick. rm8899
Pick up Clements!! Gaines Adams in B&G would in a sad way bring some purprose to this season.
method man
I think if Alan Branch works hard, he can get on the field by Week 4. I also think if we take a certain MLB, he will get in the starting lineup by Week 8. Rocky was something of a project when we drafted him because he had poor anticipation in college. However, if we can land a known complete MLB like Blades or Puz, I think he can start.
method man
Please NO BIG NAME FAs. Even if it takes us a year to rebuild, I want to see us develop our own for once.
Thirtyfive2seven
Do you all remember in Gibbs I era we drafted a damn good WR who won the Heismann Trophy? I don't think he saw the field very often...
scruffylookin
We'll draft the next Julius Peppers and then have the "ego crew" on the defensive staff insist on starting Phillip Daniels because he fits into their vaunted "scheme" better.

Mr. S
We do need a MLB right? For 50 year old veteran, I nominate Levon Kirkland to the job. Nothing wrong with signing a 50 year old 300 lb MLB. He also fights with his guts out and is super smart, the veteran guy Williams and Gibbs likes. On D-line, we need to bring back the one, the only, BRUCE SMITH! Throw in Gilbert Brown at DT! Think about that octagenarian D-line with Smith, Daniels, Brown, and Wynn. Griffin would be too young to compete with them, and Golston will be traded for a ham sandwich.

stwasm
I'd rather see us trade down and acquire some draft picks to replace the ones we don't have in the second, third and fourth rounds.
Jesus, Mary & Joe Gibbs
If we have the 5th pick we HAVE to get DE Gaines Adams from Clemson... We haven't had a special pass rusher since frikkin' Mann and Manley... I would also trade Clinton Portis to get a 1st or high 2nd rounder... I'd make TONS of deals for draft picks cause we only have ONE pick from round 1-4!!!!!! You have to build your team through the draft... Compile draft picks and rebuild... phatboy41
If we don't trade down to acquire more draft picks I really think LaRon Landry should be our first round pick then use our other picks to stock up on DT's and O-lineman. If we trade down and acquire a 2nd rounder, then I'd agree with getting either a DE or DT in the first and then going after a Safety like Eric Weddle in the second. Is it even possible for us to acquire a second round draft pick?

kleese
I'll be very disappointed if we USE that pick where it stands. I want to trade down. I'd even trade to late in the 1st round if it meant picking up 2 2nds, or something like that. We're not a player away. Now, if people believe Gaines Adams is going to be a star, then that makes some sense. But I see him more as a specialist, and right now, I think we need quantity as much as we need quality. Jesus, Mary & Joe Gibbs
He's going to be a star in the mold of Julius Peppers. You're talking specialist? Jesus.
kleese
JMJG-- Well, that's what just about everyone says about every top draft prospect right now. I've watched him play, and I was impressed. But not blown away. The Redskins are far from one player away, especially seeing it's the ONLY pick we have on day one of the draft. If I'm convinced he is going to be Peppers, then yeah, you can't pass him up. Otherwise, I'd trade down.
