DCSuperSid
I blame both Sony and the Mall/Store management for these type of incidents. Although I know the idiot who pulls the trigger is ultimately responsible. This morning at Pentagon City it was chaos. They really did a poor job of handling the situation. I blame this on Sony, only releasing 15,000 on the first day? Anyone could have seen this coming. The right thing to do would have been to wait until a sufficient supply built up then release them. Nintendo, is gonna get it right, their hoping to have millions of units the shelf by Christmas. Sony may only have 400,000 shipped to the states. -Grant

Enter Apotheosis
I can't really see how you would blame Sony for what happens at retail stores. I'd say the two key culprits in this are... A. Pure, unadulterated greed. B. Unpreparedness on the part of store security.
Mass_SkinsFan
I think this whole thing is totally out of control. One of these shootings was in Webster, MA; not far from where I live. When did society start getting so wrapped up in these things that we're willing to shoot people over a friggin video game system, or an orange talking doll? Why the heck are people paying $600 (or more) for a video game system or the obscene amounts some have paid for the Elmo dolls? Do these things dispense gold nuggets and give blowjobs or something? When did kids become so caught up in these things that their Christmas would be RUINED if some particular toy isn't under the tree? I remember the Cabbage Patch Kid craze of MY youth (no I didn't want one), but I can never remember having a "must have" gift for a birthday or Christmas that without, my holiday would be totally ruined. Mass_SkinsFan
oodles amount of profit.. i wanted to get 1 because i knew i would be making around 1500-2000 profit So you're telling me that most of these people are not even looking to cause massive public disturbances of the peace purely to resell these things on Ebay or the like? This would have been bad enough in my mind if these people were trying to get the Elmo's and PS3's for themselves or their kids, grandkids, etc...; but to tell me that a large number of them are doing it purely to resell them boggles my mind. I'm all for Capitalism, but camping out in a parking lot for three days to try and make $1500 seems a little bit beyond the scope of common sense and logic to me. Spending 2-3 days camped out in a parking lot, fighting through a ton of other people in the HOPE that you might get your hands on an item that MIGHT bring you a 200-300% profit? Maybe it's just me but even I have more of a life than that. Then there's the issue of who the hell is paying $2K for a video game system or $150 for an Elmo doll on Ebay? Is your kid really so friggin spoiled that if the toy they want isn't under the Christmas tree their life is going to be over and the holiday will be a total disaster? Come on. Let's get real here folks. I was always just happy that "Santa" hadn't seen most of what I'd done during the year or I'd have found a half ton of coal as my only Christmas present. I was overjoyed if one or two of the top things on my Christmas list happened to be under the tree.

jnhay
:loser: :loser:Seriously, these douchebags need a life It's funny. The guy says "Gamers gone wild", but I think they're just people trying to buy the system and sell it for 3-4 times as much on Ebay. And what kind of dumbasses run those stores? They make people wait back and are basically saying "The first 20 people (out of the hundreds there) who get to the doors can buy a PS3". What do they expect to happen? BTW, those two people waiting in line since Monday seemed like really nice parents.

Mass_SkinsFan
http://playstation.about.com/od/ps3/a/PS3SpecsDetails_3.htm I read the whole thing through and I'm still not sure why people are peeing their pants over this thing. Then again I'm not a video game enthusiast like some other people. I just think that's a huge chunk of money to be spending on a video game system. Then again I'm the guy who paid $120 for a piece of a thousand year old horse bridle no bigger than my thumb, so I probably should just shut up. ashburnskinsfan
http://playstation.about.com/od/ps3/a/PS3SpecsDetails_3.htm It's all nothing but insane hype. Anyone who actually wants to play video games, rather than resell for a profit, should just buy the 360 now. Objective reviewers say the 360 is at least as good, the Bluray aside but seriously how many people care about that. There are way more titles for the 360, a better on-line community and experience, and if you're such a Sony fanboy that you 'need' a PS3 then just be happy playing the 360 for 3-6 months until Sony release decent titles for the PS3 and you can buy the console at whatever the retail price then is. SkinnedAussie
Currently on ebay, there are several PS3's on offer. One auction has just ended, and with a game - Resistance - was going for $1,100.00. How about one for (currently) $2100.00? PS3 There is another with a current bid of $850.00 (or you can buy it now for $4500.00) PS3 You better be quick as these auctions are ending soon. Mass_SkinsFan
Your a fool if you buy a PS3 on ebay. Personally, I'd consider anyone who paid even the standard retail price for this thing to be a moron. The $600 retail price is half of what my first CAR cost me in 1993. That's more than most of my firearms cost me (individually) and they're much more useful than a video game system. I just can't comprehend who it is that wastes that much money (or more apparantly) on something like that. Especially those people who are buying them for their kids. Hell, I don't think my parents spent much more than $600 on Christmas presents any year for the THREE of us kids combined in the household I grew up in. Nevermind for a single gift for any one of us.
