Time To Cut Hall

The F.O. and Gibbs show loyalty sometimes to the wrong Redskins.

The young up and coming guys that become free agents like our former safer gets ignored while we overpay for Archuleta and when Joe the fan and media clearly see damaged goods in Hall then see little or no attempt to have competition against him in camp you wonder what it will take to replace those that are a problem not a solution

Its time to cut bait err Hall.

Most of your post is just flat out wrong, but I'll deal with this part. Hall came to the 'Skins in 2003 after his sixth year with the Jets. In those six years he missed a TOTAL of one game. In 2002 he hit 24 of 31 field goals and totaled 107 points. His last two years in NY he hit above 77% of his field goals.

When Hall came to the Skins he was coming into his prime as an NFL kicker, with no history of injuries to worry about. The Jets at the time were pissed that the 'Skins were raiding their roster - taking Coles, Chad Morton, and Hall. They were not "laughing their way to the bank."

As disappointing as Hall's been lately, let's not rewrite history.

History aside, the reality of the situation is that John Hall should not have been on this team to start the season, this isn't 'breaking news'. He shouldn't have been on the team LAST season either, as much as I respect Gibbs, he just seems to overlook individuals lack of talent and holding loyalty above it. Loyalty is a great thing, but winning ball games with someone that has actual talent and is still a repectable person is more important. ~ Mr. Hall may I show you the door? :logo:

When I heard this yesterday I was exctastic. Granted, Hall was integral in our win against JAX, my stomach still churns each and everytime he tees off. Good riddence Hall, and F-u Gibbs for knowingly putting in an injured kicker instead of going for it.

no, F you. if being loyal to a fault is the mans biggest downfall ill take it.

:( Is all I feel when it comes to Redskins Place kicking. We have had so many kickers (I won't list because their have been 20 million threads about this) and we can't settle or have consistency for more than one year.

I like Coach Gibbs mentality of stay with a guy to try and form a little cohesion and consistency, but Hall's leg, thigh, quad, hammy, groin, calf, pinky....whatever. Enoughs Enough!!!

Can we please have someone whose got the b***s to kick a 40+ field goal late in a game that can also take care of himself.

(ok, I'm done.) :)

I won't be sad to see someone else lining up to kick FG's. Everytime Hall came on to kick a FG, no matter the distance, I had little to no confidence in him making it. He may have started with a decent percentage this year, but missed the big one in the opener and during his time as a Redskin, when not injured, he has always made me feel like he will blow any kick. He seemed to be worthless from 50+ after all of his leg injuries, also.

My point was that mi6 declared it a mistake getting Hall in the first place - that he was washed up when he left the Jets to come here in 2003. That is revisionist history, regardless of how you feel about Hall last year and this season.

Notice in my post I put 40+ yarder. I have, and so has the team I believe, given up on 50+ field goals. The man has a dead leg. the only thing he needs to take care of.

I don't hate the man, injuries suck. Tre Johnson was a dominant player, he just couldn't stay healthy. Time to move on.

Can someone give me the scoop on peterson? What's his story

He's 36 years old, so he's not a long term solution. Played for the Falcons last year, and hit an impressive 23 of 25 field goals and all 35 extra points. Long field goal only 43 yards though. Didn't attempt any from 50+ last year - in 2004 he was 2-4 from 50+ with San Francisco.

He's bounced around: Started with Arizona 1 year, Seattle 5, KC 2, Pittsburgh 1, SF 2, then Atlanta last year.

His career field goal accuracy is almost 80% (79.4). That's impressive.

Go back to Novak ... he didn't have that powerful of a leg but he did make that game winner last year. And from what I saw was far more consistant than John.

I like John Hall but he has become a problem w/injuries, kick offs, and coming up clutch. Sure he will go make tackles on kick offs but Id much rather have a kicker that kicks it past the 20 yard line then one that consistantly gives the other team good field position.

He might make the tackle, but he will injure himself doing so.

The 'Skins are bring in 5 kickers today for tryouts:

Nick Novak, Todd Peterson (ex-Falcons), Tyler Jones (impressive in training camp but cut in favor of Hall), Ola Kimrin, and someone else not named yet.

7 kickers, they're also bringing in Tom Dempsey and George Blanda. The impact on the average age of the team will rejuvenate Brunell.

Dan T. Thanks for the info. If he's not really a long term solution I don't think we should even bother. I know that vets are much better under pressure, but why not just sign a young kicker like Novak who did fairly well with the team in his first stint.

If not him, then maybe re-sign the guy we had for kickoffs to start the year in pre-season. He wasn't half bad. Kickers are kickers. They could do amazing in practice and then miss an extra point the next day. It's lotto man. Just sign a young guy and hope he pans out.

Yes, the offical John Hall hater has arrived. Injured again you say!?!? Who would have guessed it? Where are you John Hall jock sniffers?!?! Where for art thou now that Jane Hall has pulled and strained his female reproductive organ once again??? I said he was the weakest link in the chain that is the Redskins, weaker then Brunells knees...... and I was told to quit drinking, and that when not injured he is one of the best kickers in the world, blah blah blah blah.

Well my firends, when Gibbs said he was sticking with Hall before the season started, My drinking became heavy. He lost us the Minny game, and I knew it was not going to be a great season. But the skys are clearing up, the rain may be stopping. With this most recent injury to Ms. Hall, as predicted by yours truely, we may have another chance at an ACTUAL KICKER!!!!!!!!

I thought about it this morning over breakfast. The sun was a little bit brighter, my eggs tasted better, the air was more crisp, and I felt alive with new hope and ready to take on the day. I then was informed that we are bringing in kickers by the truck load today and smiled and laughed. Yes, I laughed and I thrust my fist in the air, for today is not the day we lost Sally Mcsucky (John Hall for those who havent been following) but it is the day when the Redskins get their kicking game(previously held hostage by John Hall's paychecks) back.

But it is not over yet, the plague that is John Hall is not fully dead. No, his bubonic touch remains a pox on the team. For he will still be with us, a parasite really, he will suck his paychecks from us on the bench, and force the Redskins to cut another player to make room for John Halls replacement. Yes men and women, John Hall is going to take up two roster spots on this team. One for him and his female underware, and the other for whoever his replacement will be. And now the bonus or......"kicker".

When John Hall decides that the splinter in his kicking toe has healed, he will get the coaches absolutely wasted, like feces in your pants wasted and then brainwash them into gving him the kicking job back and cutting his competition, then releasing them. But this is a step in the right direction, and maybe, just maybe, we can avert crisis by giving lil Ms. Hall her walking papers.... or limping papers. :2cents:

I wouldnt mind a Novak back at all, but the biggest addition this team can make is by subtraction, by letting the girly kicker go.

Girly kicker??? This is the type of situation that really pisses me off-when fans only have a short term memory. In years past, Hall was perhaps the best tackling kicker in the NFL.

Until he gets hurt, three years in a row. Get pissed all you want, John Hall is a girl that can tackle. :2cents:
