jnhay
I didn't see this posted. I find it really funny that the Eagles can beat three 1-3 teams and be ranked 4th in the league  They beat the Packers and they move up 6 spots! While we beat Jacksonville and move up three. Whatever, I don't really care what they have to say, but it's just funny. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking 2006 Power Rankings: Week 5 RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT 1 (4) Bears 4-0-0 Only the most cynical of fans would complain about Chicago's pantsing of Seattle in front of the nation. There's no denying that the Bears are the best team in the NFC right now and probably in the NFL. 2 (1) Colts 4-0-0 Think Peyton Manning doesn't like sticking it to New York fans? After scoring the game-winning TD against the Jets on Sunday, Manning uncharacteristically spiked the ball and later said "Let's just say it was fun to this here. Again." 3 (4) Ravens 4-0-0 Kyle who? 4 (10) Eagles 3-1-0 Aside from all the T.O. stuff, this Sunday's game between the Cowboys and Eagles should be a great game. The Eagles are playing great football and can stamp themselves as the clear team to beat in the NFC East with a win. 5 (11) Patriots 3-1-0 Pretty amazing stat: The Patriots haven't lost consecutive games since 2002, a stretch of 53 games. So much for all the talk about Tom Brady's body language, huh? 6 (3) Seahawks 3-1-0 At least for now, the Bears have convincingly replaced the Seahawks on their perch atop the NFC. 7 (2) Bengals 3-1-0 Huge props to Marvin Lewis for sitting Chris Henry even though the Bengals definitely could have used him against the Pats. No one ever said doing the right thing is easy 8 (8) Broncos 2-1-0 Coming off a bye the Broncos should be well rested for Monday night's showdown with the Ravens. Which is a good thing going against Baltimore's defense. 9 (5) Chargers 2-1-0 At this point, Marty Schottenheimer sort of is what he is. But when the Chargers lose a game like that, the 'Martyball' critics are going to come out in full force. 10 (9) Falcons 3-1-0 The Falcons make the Cardinals play so badly that Kurt Warner loses his job in mid-game and all the talk Monday morning is about how the Falcons finally made some field goals? Tough room. 11 (13) Cowboys 2-1-0 Granted it was against the Titans, but if the Cowboys can run the ball like that (217 yards), Bill Parcells is going to be a very happy coach. 12 (7) Jaguars 2-2-0 Credit the Jacksonville defense for not making excuses despite a rash of injuries. 'We got out butts kicked. Plain and simple,' DE Paul Spicer said. 15 (14) Saints 3-1-0 Yeah, it's easy to see why the Chargers let Drew Brees go. He's only completing 67 percent of his passes, thrown 4 TDs and had two 300-plus yard passing games this season. Who needs that kind of headache at QB? 16 (17) Rams 3-1-0 That's the Rams teams we're used to seeing -- 41 points, 328 yards passing and 427 yards of total offense. 17 (20) Redskins 2-2-0 Now that's the kind of offense everyone expected when Al Saunders came to D.C. When Santana Moss is making big plays, the Redskins are a totally different offense. 18 (16) Giants 1-2-0 After getting routed by the Seahawks and having Jeremy Shockey take a shot at the coaching staff, how the Giants respond this weekend (vs. Redskins) could make or break their season. dsciambi
I wish I could say I'm surprised. Let the media hate continue. You think they would've learned after last year though?
Thirtyfive2seven
Jacksonville, with the SAME record after losing to the Redskins are ranked higher than they are. Wow. Not that it matters. When all is said and done come playoff time there will be 8 teams and the Skins will be one of them.
Loyal2Washington
Damn those power rankings, #17 WTF, how are we going to get into the Fiesta Bowl now? We need some serious help or we are going to end up in the Outback Bowl, the AD and boosters aren't going to like that.
supaskin
Saints and Rams are 3-1. no i know, but if you would have told me that before the season started I may have cried myself to sleep that night
Oldskool
So we beat the Jags, have the same record as they do and are ranked lower? OK. Oh and we are ranked below the 1-2 Steelers, who the Jags beat? Sure, why not.

OK.Oh and we are ranked below the 1-2 Steelers, who the Jags beat? Sure, why not. What I see as more shocking is we're ranked behind the Panthers and the Giants! EDIT: woops, I forgot I was looking at the week 4 rankings just now. Well, we're still ranked lower than the Panthers.
CPortJGibbs89
Good I love the rankings. They really mean nothing to me or how our good our team really is.
Oldskool
What I see as more shocking is we're ranked behind the Panthers and the Giants! We are ranked #17. Giants are ranked #18. I don't agree with the Panthers and their 21st-ranked defense being ahead of us either.
Ignatius J.
eh, the list is pretty reasonable. We played jacksonville at home, so they could in theory still be the better team. Especially since it came down to a coin flip. Also, you always have to look at these things as plus or minus 5 spots, and it's hard to argue that we're significantly better than teams above #12. Redskins Diehard
Team we just beat is ranked higher. Yeah... not thought out very well IMO. And a team that beat us, at home, is ranked lower.
TheLongshot
I'm rather amazed the Eagles get moved up so far after playing a subpar game against a team they should have pasted to the wall early and often. The Packers stink, but the Eagles kept them in the game way too long. Jason
DCranon21
Who cares about those rankings. What matters are W's in the win column, and not what some sports writer thinks about us anyways.
ouvan59
Team we just beat is ranked higher. Yeah... not thought out very well IMO. I don't have a problem with us being ranked behind the Jags. They beat the Cowboys and the Steelers and lost close ones to the Colts and us. We had sluggish games against the Vikings and the Cowboys.
