Tito was quick to blame Machida for "running", but I think he started to realize during the post-fight interview that he wasn't exactly giving Lyoto a steady diet of attacks. Nice respect from Tito, didn't see the presser though, where I hear he acted like an ass. Great knee to the LLLLLLiver by Machida, but not a super performance by any means. Would like to see him fight Chuck next.

Strokes-

I disagree about wanting to see Lyoto vs. Chuck. I get the feeling it would look a lot like Jardine vs. Chuck with less action. Chuck is a counter-puncher and Lyoto hates contact. I call snoozer on this matchup.

So, I'll probably be watching the fights on CBS Saturday. Someone who knows more about MMA please tell me about this Kimbo Slice character.

Also, current American Gladiator Gina "Crush" Carano ( ) is fighting.

Just google him. Hardcore videos of him fighting anyone in the streets and yards of Miami are all over the net.

As far as the UFC pay-per-view went, I was a little disappointed at most of the matches.

I had bigger hopes for the Tito fight....as far as action was concerned.

Love Silva......now that is the Silva we know and love. He looked like he was back in his prime in Pride.

Sherk was pretty boring also.....his gameplan blew, and that right hand did appear to be keeping him from attacking more.

Hit youtube and run a search on Kimbo Slice. You will find a couple MMA fights and about 20 backyard fights. The knock on him is that he's not really an MMA fighter, but rather a street fighter who's been spoon-fed bums in the octagon. The Kimbo believers say he's been trained by Bas Rutten (a legendary MMA fighter) and he's gaining awesome skills from it.

I have not cast my vote on him yet. He hits so hard he may never need martial arts, but until he gets in there with someone I respect, I can't give him full credit.

I am hoping Bas himself comes back for one more fight.

His last one was fantastic, and I agree with you on Kimbo as far as the jury still being out on him.

Although having said that.....even Tank Abbott has a little more respect for him after that last fight.

Bas is done. He has said as much. His knee is shot. He needed cortisone shots to fight last time.

I thought it was a great ppv. Tons of action. Lots of prelims. Great stories told.

I guess I am in the minority, but I love watching Machida fight, and I loved seeing him frustrate Tito. His legs are so fast we starting calling him Lyoto "Don't mess with the Zohan" Machida

We also drank everytime they said "Elusive or Unorthadox" :chug:

He's a street fighter turned mixed martial artist that is training with one of MMA's all-time greats. He's a classic rags to riches story, a family man and will be a great fighter one day, he's still learning right now though...however he is currently the most popular fighter since Chuck Liddell.

This will tell you all you need to know about him:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3405201

And he should win via (T)KO this weekend because he has one-punch KO power and is fighting a guy with a glass jaw.

Also, the Gina Carano match could put women's MMA on the map, the girl she's fighting, Kaitlin Young, is pretty tough herself.

i don't trust Gary Shaw further than i can throw him, and he's a big, as in wide, ass dude. he comes from boxing and understands the art of promotion. i've seen a couple of Young's fights, she's definitely tough, but i think the fix could be in on this one. Carano is probably EliteXC's 2nd biggest attraction, i think Shaw will try to protect her

No one should cast their vote on Kimbo yet. YES, he doesn't deserve the credit because he hasn't seen any REAL competition yet. BUT, he's an MMA a noob and doesn't deserve to be put in front of any of the top competitors yet. It's a double edged sword.

I'd like to think that that doesn't happen in MMA. But either way, I don't think Gina Carano has to worry about that, I think she'll take Kaitlin Young. Gina has been training exclusively at Xtreme Couture for this bout, I think she'll be ready.

Kimbo a classic rags to riches story? Wow I had no idea the classic story involved being a drug dealer and user, being a porn star then being a body guard for other porn stars, beating up a bunch of nobodies in your back yard, then getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to beat up nobodies in a new organization.

I'm taking Kaitlin Young over Carano. Gina hasn't taken her MMA career seriously in 3 years now. She's done nothing but promote herself for movies, tv, etc. She's like Tito with less dedication and less accomplishments. There's nothing wrong with her trying to further other careers it just makes the full time fighter a safer bet for me. Also she hasn't even made weight in her last 3 fights. They made up the 140lb weight just for her b/c she failed to make 135 and she still came in too heavy. They allowed it anyway b/c she's the face of their womens MMA division.

Where did you get that misinformation at?

Straight from a Kimbo interview for the drugs part. I've seen the video of him in porn. I can try to find the link and pm it to you, but I obviously can't link a porn vid on the forum.

He was a bodyguard for a porn company, but I've never heard anything about him doing porn or selling/using drugs...feel free to post the interview and PM me the video, I'm curious because from everything I've seen and read from him he's nothing but a good guy and a family man, who's serious about becoming a great mixed martial artist.

I don't know about him doing porn or selling drugs, but he definitely used them. I have heard him talk about that as well. There is no doubt that he has had a crazy past. I am sure a lot of other MMA guys have as well.

With that being said, it looks like he really is on the right track and is dedicated to the sport. I will admit, it annoys me how out of control the hype machine is for someone that has not really beaten anybody of note, but I guess it is good for the sport. Yes, he is new to the sport, but so was Lesnar and it will be a while before Slice faces someone like Mir, Mark Coleman (even though that is not going to happen now), or Heath Herring.

I really respect the fact that he is being trined by Bas, but the Goldberg WCW squash fights are going to get old after a while.

PM it to me if you find it, Cahones. I have trouble believing it exists.

I'll look for it in just a bit when I'm on my lunch break. I'll pm it to those that asked if I find it. I didn't know it existed either until I saw it on another forum. If I can't find it I'll delete my post. I wouldn't want to say something like that and not be able to back it up. Keep in mind I'm not judging or trash talking Kimbo. I don't care if he had a crazy past, tons of people do. I give him a lot of credit for taking his training seriously and trying to make a career out of MMA. I'd love to see him fight some better competition so we can see where he stands.

I understand what you mean man and I agree I've got a lot of respect for him

We'll see the better competition come eventually. He's still completely new to the sport really, he had no training before he started with Bas, not even with boxing. The only sport he played was football.

when you think about it Kimbo is starting his MMA career no different than anyone else starting off in the sport, only he's doing it in front of a much larger audience.

its a double-edged sword, we want to see him against better competition, but in terms of his progression, he's probably facing the right caliber of guys so far.

That's exactly right. The best guys in the sport had to start somewhere and they didn't start against the top contenders right off the bat.

Absolutely. I wasn't holding anything against Kimbo. I was just saying that he's not deserving of any Hall of Fame honors yet.
