The 2nd round was razor close. I just saw a tad more from Beltran. As pronounced an effect as those kicks were having in the 3rd, I could not give Barry a 10-8. It was pretty apparent though that Beltran was about to quit when that final bell rang.

Sebowski
Just finished watching the fights on dvr. I am convinced Cody learned all his footwork and head movement by studying Sam Elliot in Road House. ---------- Post added January-23rd-2011 at 10:49 PM ---------- I wouldn't say that, I don't even think it would go to decision personally. GSP would take him down, mount him and GNP the **** out of him. Diaz always has a chance to get a sub but as much as he likes to talk about how hard he works, he'll never outwork GSP and he'll never gameplan the way GSP does. GSP will out wrestle, outclass and his cardio will have Diaz on fumes by the third round. As much as I like Nick, GSP simply outclasses him. :rotflmao: You know Diaz places in triathlons in his down time, right?
ZoEd
GSP outclasses Fitch, Koscheck, Alves, & Dan Hardy, but they all saw the final bell. Diaz would lose easily, but it goes to a decision Look at the size of all the guys you mentioned compared to Diaz. All of them are much stronger guys than Nick. Nate is a very talented fighter who struggles against stronger guys. Nick will fare the same way against GSP, he'll be out wrestled and out muscled all day long. I just don't think he'd have to be as cautious against Nick as he was against the guys you mentioned. Nick is typically head and shoulders above his opponents in striking and BJJ but he definitely doesn't have that advantage over GSP. ---------- Post added January-24th-2011 at 08:28 AM ---------- Just finished watching the fights on dvr.I am convinced Cody learned all his footwork and head movement by studying Sam Elliot in Road House. ---------- Post added January-23rd-2011 at 10:49 PM ---------- :rotflmao: You know Diaz places in triathlons in his down time, right? Yep, sure do. Which triathalon requires you to carry a 170+ pound man on you while you're swimming, running or biking. And OBTW, you're getting punched in the face at the same time? Just saying. d0ublestr0ker0ll
Big timmy just lost in like 34 seconds to some unknown named Abe Wagner. Abe was on Rampage's team on TUF. He got cut so badly that it almost looked like his skull was cracked. Unbelievably deep. Another memorable moment occurred during that fight as well, when Rampage pretty much only yelled, "GET UP ABE" throughout the entire bout. That complex coaching unfortunately didn't help Abe prevent the Grand Canyon from appearing on his forehead. #98QBKiller
Poor TImmay still thinks he's a good striker. IMO, that was a slightly early stoppage but I think he would've been finished regardless. Can't wait for the card tonight, I'll have my picks up soon. StillUnknown
Strikeforce picks: Walker over Carson by Unanimous Decision: i can't imagine strikeforce putting one of their most visible fighters in against anyone good right now, nor should they to be honest. Prangley over Gracie by (T)KO, Round 2: Gracie might be the best competition bjj of all-times, but his striking is horrible. obviously if the fight hits the ground, Prangley will tap faster than the word is spelled. i think Prangley will find a way to keep this standing and pull the upset Jacare over Lawler by Submission, Round 3: Lawler has the power to end this at anytime, and he has the wrestling to keep this standing long enough to try and hit Jacare. Lawler also tends to make stupid mistakes in his fights that get him beat (i.e. leaving his neck exposed against Shields). I see Lawler making a mistake at some point and he'll end up on the ground as a result, where he'll be tapped in short order. Diaz over Cyborg by (T)KO, Round 3: simply put, Diaz outclasses Cyborg in almost every area. Cyborg kicks better, but not to the point that it will matter. Diaz will use his punches to wear Cyborg down over time and he will finish him in the 3rd. Edited January 29, 2011 by StillUnknown

NoCalMike
Nick Diaz shows what studying an opponent can do to your chin. Punches always hurt less and have less effect when you know they are coming, or thrown by an opponent slightly out of their range. It's a shame we'll never see Nick Diaz vs. GSP....or if it does happen, one or both fighters will be beyond their prime. I am really interested to see what would happen if GSP took Diaz down. If Diaz could use his legit BJJ black belt to work from the bottom. Nick Diaz has a longer range and would prob try to keep GSP at a distance for as long as he could. I am sure GSP would be looking or a takedown. Not trying to say Nick Diaz is the better fighter at this point, not at all, just saying I think it would be an interesting matchup. Patrick86L
All the Diaz haters were quick to say that Nick was flipping off female Cyborg because you can see him say "**** you *****" but it turns out to just be some butthurt Cyborg fans.---------- Post added January-30th-2011 at 10:52 AM ----------Gracie over at mixedmartialarts.com posted this"Remember when Nick was saying "fuk you"? Well, when Nick was walking into the ring..there was 3 older Latino dudes sitting front row, about 20 feet away from the ramp where I was sitting..straight cholos..lol. They were flippin Nick off all angry. After a while I could tell that they were not kidding around. Nicks team basically ignored them. I thought maybe that Nick did not see them. Then when the fight was over..Nick ran over to them..jumped on top of the fence..and flipped them off..then he took out his mouthpiece and threw it at them. Then one of them threw his cup of beer into the ring. Watch again and you'll see liquid. Then..about 20 Nortenos from 209 who were sitting above these 3 older Latino..started throwing their water bottles and cups. Then one bottle hit a skinny innocent white dude and he freaked out and threw a chair..lol. By now, the 3 cholos were a little scared and just stood there waiting for security to escort them out. Andris Biedrins of the Golden State Warriors was sitting behind us and as this was happening his entourage swooped him up and took him away before he got hurt. When you have a million dollar NBA contract you'd probably do the same!! Chairs flying can't be good!! #98QBKiller
Awesome night for BJJ last night. Roger and Jacare both finished via submission and so did Nick Diaz. I was impressed with Nick's standup against Cyborg. He'll probably start working on checking leg kicks after this fight because I'm sure his next opponent, whoever that may be will try and chop his leg up after seeing this fight. He even mentioned it when he was talking to Mauro, so I think he'll be ready next time. Otherwise, his game looks pretty good. Wrestling is really the only hole in his game. If he could develop some good takedown defense or good takedowns he would be top 5/top 3 IMO. Not trying to say Nick Diaz is the better fighter at this point, not at all, just saying I think it would be an interesting matchup. I think GSP would just take him down and work strikes from top position until the ref stands it back up. I don't think he would mess with subs and risk losing a good position to someone like Diaz, who has a lot better jiu jitsu. Diaz is seriously lacking in the wrestling department and GSP is probably the best wrestler at 170. Which is extra impressive when you consider he never wrestled in high school or college. After seeing GSP's last fight, I wouldn't be surprised if he boxed with Diaz for a little bit but I'd expect him to be content with using wrestling to win a decision. No reason for him to risk getting submitted if he knows he can win safely.
