Anything MMA, except thumb wrestling

That is a great matchup. It will be hard for Jones to throw the crap out of strong-ass Hamill. Hamill's striking is definitely awkward and he likes to keep his hands down, which could really haunt him against somebody with big time striking. I'm leaning towards Jones, but not by much.

i think Jones will plan this fight similar to his match against Jake O'Brien. Jones used his wrestling in reverse to keep it standing. i expect him to do the same to Hammill

Hamill's has some good power, but his technique isn't as good as O'Briens. Jones' should be able to use his freakish reach and dominate the standup.

i think Jones finishes him in the 2nd

Pretty much how I see it too.

http://mmajunkie.com/news/16119/rashad-evans-confirms-ufc-107-bout-with-quinton-rampage-jackson-is-off.mma

The speculation is over.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (30-7 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will not be fighting Rashad Evans (13-1-1 MMA, 8-1-1 UFC) at UFC 107 in December.

While the potential for Jackson to withdraw from the event has been discussed for weeks, Evans today confirmed in an interview with Bruce Buffer that the fight has been delayed until at least 2010.

The interview aired on today's episode of "It's Time" on the Sherdog Radio Network.

"It's definitely off for the 12th," Evans said. "It's just disappointing because as a fighter you get your mind wrapped around when you're going to have to fight. Then you kind of just gear up toward it and put everything in place for that time. You take care of a lot of things you need to take care of so when you're in camp you don't have to worry about it. To find out its not going to be happening when you want it to happen is always a little bit of a letdown."

While multiple outlets have reported on the potential for Jackson to take on the role of B.A. Baracus in a feature version of "The A-Team," Evans said until recently he believed it wasn't going to happen.

"I heard a little bit about it at the last UFC, 102, and (UFC president) Dana (White) said he was working to resolve the issue, and he was pretty confident that he was going to have some kind of resolution by the end of the week," Evans said. "But then things must have took a turn for the worse and it wasn't going to be resolved. The end result was him definitely pulling out."

While White made his feelings on the subject obvious at a pre-UFC 102 press conference, Evans echoed the sentiments that fighters should stick to what they do best.

"I would stick with my obligations to do the fight (if I was in the same situation)," Evans said. "I know that he has an amazing opportunity to do this acting role, but then at the same time, at the end of the day he's still going to be just a fighter. He's not going to be an actor."

As opposing coaches on the upcoming tenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," Evans and Jackson were supposed to clash at the conclusion of the series. Evans said he still believes his next fight will be with Jackson, he's just not sure when it will be.

"I'm pretty positive that it's going to be my next fight," Evans said. "They haven't nailed down any dates, but they did say it was going to be after the New Year. I think they were waiting to speak with Quinton's guys and find out exactly when exactly he feels he should be ready. They just want to get it done and over with, and they're just trying to work with him and see what they can do."

With the official removal of Evans vs. Jackson from the card, UFC 107 now includes:

  • Champ B.J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez (for lightweight title)*
  • Cheick Kongo vs. Frank Mir*
  • Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago*

* - Not officially announced

Matt Hamill hates getting hit also though. The second you make contact with his face he doubles-over and turns into a scared fighter.

As far as Jackson goes, good for him. Until MMA fighters are paid better, they will and should continue to look at other ways of making revenue.

Look at this from the fighter's perspective instead of the promoter's perspective.

I would be fine with that, if there were not already siginificant plans in place for him. He declined the Machida fight in order to do The Ultimate Fighter, which is a huge investment and hype machine leading to a fight that now is not going to happen for a while. If there was nothing planned for him for the near future, I would absolutely have no problem with it.

But when you have agreed to a plan for the next few months for what is your current primary career, I think it is kind of shady to back out of it. No question, it is a great opportunity for Rampage, but in taking advantage of this opportunity, it has hurt his credibility and has damaged the his relationship with Dana and the UFC. Dana and the organization stood up for Rampage, almost to the point of ridiculousness, after his loss to Forrest and subsequent tirade, and I think he should have maybe handled things a little differently.

rampage is one of the better paid fighters in the UFC easily, making hundreds of thousands per fight in the UFC

nobody knows how much he's getting paid for this movie

i'm looking at it from a fans perspective, and Rampage has decided against fighting 2 top LHW in succession. i've been critical of dana on alot of things, i cant fault him on this. he wanted rampage to fight machida, but he gave rampage the option of choosing Rashad and doing TUF. then he even went as far as to give him home field advantage, and now dana screws him.

This is what it comes down to for me. I kind of took it with a grain of salt when he decided not to fight Machida and instead opted to do TUF and take the Rashad fight, especially after a fight between the two was hyped up so much.

I just figured that Rampage wanted the money associated with TUF and he wanted to do the Rashad fight before taking a crack at Machida. But now after turning down one fight and putting another on the back burner, I'm starting to question his desire to fight. He's never been afraid to fight anyone before, so I don't think he's ducking Machida or Rashad, but I do think that he cares more about an acting career than he does about the sport that made him famous and it's hard for us as fans to deal with that.

Was it Greg Jackson?

I didn't catch the guys name, to be honest. I walked in and he was there. He was an older man, shaved head.

I don't think it's his current trainer... I think it was his trainer coming up... And I think the guy still works with him on a time to time basis. Jon Jones is from Rochester, sot hat was probably the case.

Speaking of Greg Jackson, a certain caveman has just joined the dark side.

Clay Guida makes jump to Greg Jackson's camp:

Perhaps he can teach Jardine some jaw-clinching techniques, as well as teaching them how to grow some friggen hair.

That's the fight everyone wants to see, Cane is a very good fighter. However, I see Nog having and a slight advantage on the feet and certainly on the ground. I don't think Nog's lack of cage experience will be much of a factor, although it's hard to tell with how badly the transition has been for a lot of squared-circle vets. He trains at Black House with great cage fighters, I don't think it'll be a problem.
