NightHawk777
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=dw-lions050706&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Wow, this guy is really laying into the Lions. I had no idea this situation happened there, but it makes the players look pretty silly, just going by this one article. Could they really be filing a grievance over practicing too hard ?
BlueTiki21
This sounds a lot like the situation with Tom Coughlin when he first came to the Giants. That's what happens when a disciplined coach comes in to a team thats not used to it.
drums and skins
Man, this guy was rough! [Marinelli is] a modern-day Vince Lombardi to knock around a group whose only recent positives have come on drug tests.
RIDETHEWALRUS
Good article. If I were marinelli, I would run that group of pansies until someone passed out with a heat stroke. I would then tell them that practice will return to pre-complaint ways and if someone complains about it I will run them till 2 guys pass out with heat stroke. I would then continue this until either every player is in the hospital or has bowed down to my authority. That team is and has been ridiculously pathetic for years and will contiure that way if a coach can't control those weak players.

dreamshatterer
Wow, we get caught doing it. But the Lions go and tattle-tale on thier own coach.

Enter Apotheosis
This is major news. Judging by their almost 50 years of futility, who knew the Lions worked out at all, let alone that the franchise had an actual building dedicated to practice? That's all I needed to hear
bulldog
the Lions have always been one of the softest teams in the NFL. it's about time somebody tried to turn this club around. the front office, though, has been dreadful. Aaron Gibson was a bust. Stockar McDougale was a bust. Joey Harrington was a bust. who drafts Mike Williams when you already have two top 10 picks at WR chosen in the past 2 years? Mat Millen has gotten his fair chance of chances to hire a head coach as well. Morninweg, Mariucci, etc.
Shotgunner
Too funny. They need someone to shake these guys up. They now have a coach laying it on the line and they're whining.
PleaseBlitz
Shades of Marty Schott. If Millen had any balls at all, he would back his coach and tell his players to shape up or ship out. Then he would resign as GM.
ouvan59
If I were a Lions fan this article would make me very happy. Time to pare away some of the deadwood. If you recall we had a similar issue last year with our practices and lost a couple of days as well.

Oldskool
That whole FO needs a giant enema. Millen and co need to go. Marinelli is a football coach to the bone. He wont take crap from his players. Hopefully he can do something for this team. I hate soft clubs.
a_good_brotha
This guy hammered the Lions. I'm just glad to see another team besides the Redskins get laughed at. It wasn't too long ago when the Redskins were being blasted because of Spurrier and his "country club" atmosphere during practices/work outs. Hiro
I couldn't believe it after I read this. These guys actually complained about practicing TOO HARD?! They're pro football players for christ's sake, they're expected to be in the best of shape and to be tough. No wonder the Lions don't get any respect from anyone, including their own fans. tizzod
He should bring a boxful of badminton racquets or something to the next practice. String up some nets. Would you rather do this or win football games? I love hard-nosed coaches.

If you recall we had a similar issue last year with our practices and lost a couple of days as well. Big difference. BIG BIG DIFFERENCE. In the Lions situation... the players complained to the NFLPA. In the Redskins situation... NFLPA Executives went on to Redskins.com and watched video of OTA's and perceived their to be too much contact. Redskin players didn't complain In fact, it has more similarities to the Giants when Coughlin took over 2 years ago.
