PresidentClinton07
Sean Taylor easily in the past decade. Can't wait to see him lay out Galloway. I hope so to . I hope he lays his ass out and then does that stupid flex of the muscle thing galloway does.
redphoenix
I've been a Skins fan since '72, and I've never seen anybody consistently hit as hard than Sean Taylor. That says alot.I believe you.:logo:
SkinsFTW
I remember Walton, Marshall, Manley and Murphy being hard hitters. And Arrington is up there too, along with Bowen. But I've never seen anybody flying into people at full speed consistently knocking players on their skull like Sean Taylor has been lately. He might not be the best all around but when he hits a ball carrier he lays them out like A****er, Lott, and Houston, on their best day.
OldTownFan
Dexter "****in A! Look Out!!!" Manley, and he'd still probably knock a mofo out today!
Doctor ToughLove
This list should include Walton's hit against Denver in SBXXII. That was a turning point in the game as it helped prevent Denver from taking a larger early lead.We all know what happened next. (By the way ... has Tony Lilly made it to that corner yet?) Very impressive, you now your stuff! Especially in a game of that magnatude it does deserve to be in "the list" (regretably I don't recall it though, tell me more). And yes, tell me about the Tony Lilly hit (Denver's free safety?) Doctorfro
Hard to measure. Taylor may be the one. Marshall, Arrington, Houston. How about Manusky?
Doctor ToughLove
I just can't get enough of this...http://www.sportsattic.com/nflphoto/photos2/Manley,Dexter2.jpg Oh yeah, that's the one. It was the symbolic passing of the torch. The end of one reign and the beginning of another. (I got a copy of it, thanks)

Spaceman Spiff
My dad told me that Diron Talbert could lay some people out. Apparently he was a big dude that nobody wanted to mess with. Anyone got pics of Alvin Walton and this haircut I keep reading about?
MustangSteve
Hard to say but Manley knocked out Danny White, Alvin Walton hit every bit like Taylor and made players leave the game for a few. I would have to say LA hits the hardest of linebackers, he ended Troys career and made many sit on the sideline.
Redskins4ever
Alvin Walton Mark Murphy Curtis Jordan Ken Houston (used to hit receiver with the forearm) Boy, he could hit! Sean Taylor
Tazhog
This has been a fun one to read through... I have to agree with Kenny Houston for Defense, he'd hit them and the ball and players helmet would go flying! Houston tried to "KILL" someone... Offensively I'd say Otis Wonsley, he was a FB and special teamer... Everyone has to remember the lead block he through for Riggins in SB XVII and that 43 yard TD... Wonsley tried to "Knock Out" people when he threw a block...
RedskinsRGr8
Alvin Walton. The man would launch himself like a rocket. I remember the hit he put on Roger Craig of the 49ers.
Whiskey17
Ken Houston without a doubt. In 1973 he slammed Skoal man Walt Garrison at the one yard line to preserve a victory over the Cowpokes.
natsfan3
The hardest hit I have ever seen was the night Monk got his record. They were playing Denver and Danny Copeland knock one of the Broncos parallel to the ground. It was to this day, the most viscious hits I have ever seen. I was at the game, but taped it. I watched it over and over. Not to say Danny was the hardest hitter in the history of the teams. This one hit is up their with all of them though! SkinzRool
Although I feel Taylor, Arrington and Walton were harder hitters, one player I haven't seen mentioned yet was Ken Harvey. The rest of the team he was on weren't any good, so he's easy to forget, but he could lay some devastating hits on opposing players. I never saw Hanburger or Huff play so I can't comment on them. I would go with Sean Taylor, but your right I haven't seen that play since I originally saw it and remember it to this day. Danny Copeland laid the biggest single hit in Redskins history:P
Thiebear
I wouldnt say he was the best but Mark Carrier should at least get an honorable mention... They once wanted to punish him twice for the same helmet to helmet hit and he was villified .... Pat Fisher so far for my buck. Griff
In no order: Alvin Walton Pat Fisher The Grim Reaper Big Number 56 I am going to edit mine and add this guy to my list he hits very hard, just ask Newman or Dawkins to name a few..
bcl05
Alvin Walton was a safety who wore a neck-roll. That's about all you need to know.
The 12th Commandment
I would probably say that Manley was the hardest hitter IMO. I am surprised though, that there hasn't been any mention of Dave Butz on this thread. He smacked a few qb's in his day.
photo4u
Actually, I think Taylor's tackling technique is better than most. If you watch him, he does wrap up more often that not, IMO. Hey Dan T. He's getting there, from where we sit in the stadium we see him always trying to kill a person with his shoulder, but will miss. Not saying that he doesn't punish folks, but he just ain't there as an all timer yet!!! Give him time, it's just his second year.
