I don't believe that Smith is done with this. There's still wire fraud charges for TFG & RNC & PACs. Didn't Smith re-convene the DC GJ? My $0.02 - Smith got the J6 indictment solo on TFG to minimize the complexity of the case. The other 6 co-conspirators can still be charged and will be squeezed by the DOJ to rat out TFG. Outside of TFG I don't think any of these people can afford lawyers for the long haul. How much of their bill will RNC & PACs pay? Multiply that by 25-30.That's gonna be some serious coin.

No way all 19 take this to a trial. Mandatory minimum of 5 years is going to lead to a **** ton of plea deals. Only the dumbasses in the group are going to fight this - probably some of the lawyers who are being charged. Are the GQP PACs going to pay for the lawyers for all of 19? That's going to chew up that money pretty quickly.

Sheriff: Ronny Jackson threatened to ‘beat’ state trooper after being handcuffed at rodeo Aide to ex-White House physician says he wasn’t drinking and shouldn’t have been detained while trying to help a teen suffering a seizure. WASHINGTON — Amarillo congressman Ronny Jackson threatened to beat a state trooper and “bury” a West Texas sheriff in the next election after deputies pushed him to the ground and handcuffed him at a rodeo, according to a sheriff’s incident report released Friday night. Jackson, a former White House physician and retired rear admiral, portrayed himself afterward as the victim of overzealous officers who didn’t realize he was trying to put his medical expertise to use helping a teenager who was having a seizure. The report on the July 29 incident from Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry portrays the GOP congressman as belligerent and uncooperative. It says deputies asked Jackson to step back at least four times before they detained him, and he had also ignored the state trooper’s order to step back to let emergency responders help the girl. He then unleashed profanity at the trooper and threatened to “beat [his] ass,” says the incident report, obtained through an open records request. Jackson’s office, provided a copy of the report, disputed that he’d been drinking and accused officers of mishandling the situation. ... “Congressman Jackson was not drinking and was prevented from giving medical care in a potentially life-threatening situation due to overly aggressive and incompetent actions by the local authorities present at the time of the incident,” said Jackson spokeswoman Kate Lair. “He was asked to help the teenager when no other uniformed medics were present. Congressman Jackson, as a trained ER physician, will not apologize for sparing no effort to help in a medical emergency, especially when the circumstances were chaotic and the local authorities refused to help the situation.” According to Chief Deputy Sheriff JC Blackburn’s account, Jackson remained agitated even after he was released from handcuffs, and was “screaming profanity about the trooper.” “I physically had to hold Congressman Jackson back from going towards Trooper Young,” Blackburn said. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2023/08/11/sheriff-ronny-jackson-threatened-to-beat-state-trooper-after-being-handcuffed-at-rodeo/

Sooo...in other travel stories: My next door neighbor's son & granddaughter drove cross country a couple of weeks ago from Ontario, CA. The son wanted to stay a couple of weeks to do some things around the house for his dad and the 20 year old granddaughter wanted to go home. So the son put her on a RIC-CLT-ONT flight that left RIC ~2PM (her first time flying alone). The CLT-ONT flight is delayed because of mechanical. Granddaughter waits around & they end up boarding about 10PM. Issue not fixed & there are no other flights to ONT. AA refuses to get her a hotel room because she's <21. She gets rebooked for the 1st flight the next day & spends the night in the airport. She boards the flight the next morning at 6AM - mechanical issue & they deboard. She freaks out, calls her dad & grandfather. The grandfather contacts Hilton (he has lifetime status with them) & he get's her a room The father left that morning to drive to CLT to pick her up & drive home. She refused to get on another flight. I guess I never thought about it but it seems if you're on a flight & there's mechanical issues the airline should get you a hotel regardless of age. -
Idaho loses its 'Teacher of the Year' after right-wing parents chase her out of state Karen Lauritzen, who was named as Idaho's "Teacher of the Year" last year by a Republican administration, has now been chased out of the state by angry right-wing parents. The Boston Globe reports that, shortly after receiving her award for excellence in teaching, Lauritzen became the target of a right-wing media campaign that flagged her social media posts expressing support for LGBTQ rights and the Black Lives Matter movement. This led to parents angrily demanding to see her lesson plans, despite the fact that there was no suggestion she ever brought her personal politics into the classroom. However, parents nonetheless objected to teaching students about other cultures around the world and even teaching them about the United Nations on the grounds that the parents said they "don't believe" in the institution. https://www.rawstory.com/idaho-teacher-of-the-year/
