  3. FBI Says MAGA Sheriff Sold Deputy Badge to Iraqi Fixer According to an FBI search warrant obtained by The Daily Beast, Barzani family associate Haval Dosky was sworn in as a reserve deputy for a $5,000 donation. A die-hard MAGA sheriff in Virginia charged with accepting bribes for deputy badges allegedly sold one to a controversial Iraqi fixer linked to Kurdistan prime minister and accused kleptocrat Masrour Barzani. That’s according to an FBI search warrant affidavit obtained by The Daily Beast, which reveals Virginia-based businessman Haval Dosky was swept up in a federal investigation that has upended the decade-plus tenure of Culpeper County, Virginia Sheriff Scott Jenkins. Prosecutors say donors who gave generously to Jenkins’ 2019 reelection campaign were rewarded by being made reserve deputies—which also gave them permission to carry a concealed weapon in all 50 U.S. states. Dosky, who has not been charged with a crime, was sworn in as a Culpeper deputy in exchange for a $5,000 donation to Jenkins’ campaign committee, the search warrant affidavit states. His alleged involvement in the plot has never been previously disclosed. Jenkins, a so-called constitutional sheriff who opposes all forms of common-sense gun control, was indicted in June on a slew of public corruption charges related to the alleged scheme. Three Virginia businessmen also allegedly bought commissions as Culpeper reserve deputies, were indicted alongside Jenkins. The affidavit cites a cooperating witness who solicited funds for Jenkins, and told the FBI he “knew of at least eight individuals who were sworn as auxiliary officers in exchange for contributions.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/fbi-says-maga-sheriff-scott-jenkins-sold-deputy-badge-to-iraqi-fixer-haval-dosky?ref=home
  4. Brett Favre to testify in Mississippi welfare case Oct. 26 The Mississippi Department of Human Services has filed notice of its intent to depose former NFL quarterback Brett Favre as part of its lawsuit seeking to recover millions of dollars in misspent welfare funds. In a court filing Monday, the agency said its lawyers were scheduled to take Favre's sworn testimony beginning Oct. 26 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. According to Front Office Sports, this would be the first Favre deposition, but those involved in the case aren't commenting because of a judge's gag order. A lawyer for Favre declined to comment and an MDHS spokesman also declined to answer questions. In a July court filing, a lawyer for Favre said his client "does not intend to invoke the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination" in connection with the case. Favre, 53, has denied wrongdoing and has not been criminally charged in the case. His alleged involvement became known in May 2022, when he was named as one of 38 original defendants. MDHS's lawsuit seeks to recoup at least $77 million in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds, which a state audit said was diverted from needy families to rich and powerful people in the state. As of May 2023, there were 47 defendants in the case. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38559486/brett-favre-testify-mississippi-welfare-case-oct-26
  5. Both arms sore AF - the flu shot is worse. But no other side effects...
  6. Just hit the triple vax: Covid booster, flu & pneumonia. The Vid in my right arm the other 2 in my left. Gonna wait a couple of weeks to get the RSV shot. Then need to plan on the double shingles shots. I heard they are not fun. As a side note: I didn't know CVS bought all of the Target pharmacies. I went to one of the Target stores near me. The woman told me they go through their Covid booster allotment FAST and then it takes about a week before they get their refills.
  7. Hmmm... Russian admiral reportedly killed in Ukrainian attack shows up on TV, prompts ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ speculation A Russian admiral Ukrainian forces listed among the 33 officers killed in an attack on a Black Sea navy base over the weekend showed up on a video conference call attended by Russia’s top military brass. But still and brief footage of Adm. Viktor Sokolov, seemingly seated with a pillow behind his head, is prompting discussion over whether Ukrainian officials exaggerated the success of their strike — or Russia is pulling a “Weekend at Bernie’s.” The Russian Defense Ministry said Friday an attack on their heavily fortified base in Crimea caused damage, but didn’t address claims Sokolov was dead, according to NBC News. Footage of a military meeting on Russian state television clearly featured a small image of the admiral on a large screen. He was motionless and didn’t speak. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/russian-admiral-reportedly-killed-ukrainian-001000045.html
  8. Elite Ukrainian commandos on jet skis conducted a daring raid on a Russian electronic warfare station in Crimea, report says Ukrainian commandos on jet skis conducted a mission to damage a Russian electronic warfare station in Crimea. Members of the group told The Times of London how they carried out their covert and daring mission. The group had also been tasked with flying a Ukrainian flag on the peninsula for the first time in a decade. A unit of Ukrainian commandos traveled covertly across the Black Sea on jet skis in a daring raid on a Russian electronic warfare station in Crimea, a report says. A group of about 20 soldiers from the Brotherhood Battalion carried out the mission on Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24, The Times of London reported. Each jet ski carried two Ukrainian frogmen and traveled 125 miles across the sea to reach the peninsula. "Our first target was an electronic warfare station so powerful not even a compass could work within 20 miles of the shore," Borghese, the battalion commander who coordinated the mission on the day, told The Times. The electronic warfare station had thwarted drone strikes and tracked British Storm Shadow missiles. Levan, the second in command of the elite special forces regiment the Timur group, told The Times that he spent two weeks practicing the journey on a jet ski before their mission. While the unit approached the peninsula, five Ukrainian support ships fired at Russian positions as a diversion tactic, per The Times. The original plan was to place explosives at the site before leaving, but the soldiers were spotted and had to resort to their backup plan, and instead struck it with anti-tank weapons and rocket-propelled grenades, Borghese told The Times. https://www.yahoo.com/news/elite-ukrainian-commandos-jet-skis-104433868.html
  9. Proud Boy who disappeared ahead of his Jan. 6 sentencing was found unconscious by agents at his home A member of the Proud Boys extremist group who disappeared days before he was supposed to be sentenced for his role in the U.S. Capitol riot was found unconscious by federal agents after he tried to “covertly return” to his home, the FBI said on Friday. Christopher Worrell, of Naples, Florida, was taken to a hospital where he remained on Friday, according to the FBI's Tampa office. The FBI did not provide further details about his condition. Authorities had been searching for weeks for Worrell, who had been on house arrest when he went missing last month ahead of his sentencing in Washington. Prosecutors had been seeking 14 years in prison for Worrell on convictions for assault, obstruction of Congress and other offenses. The FBI said that agents quickly surrounded and entered Worrell's home on Thursday after he returned, found the man unconscious and “immediately provided medical attention.” Authorities say agents found night-vision goggles, $4,000 in cash, and survivalist gear in his home. https://news.yahoo.com/proud-boys-member-disappeared-ahead-144340091.html

  12. Isn't this because the embassies are 'owned' by the respective country? I could be wrong but I don't think they are actually US residents.
  13. Yep...I went to our local hangout last night & was talking to one of the regulars. He's the COO of a business who does a lot of Fed contract work. Local news came on & mentioned the shutdown and he exploded. They have already been told not to be onsite next week as the Fed will be shutdown. He was ranting and raving & then said 'And Biden won't do anything!", To which I replied, "This is on McCarthy. He's a POS & reneged on his deal. Biden has nothing to do with this." Dude on the other side of this guy says, "Yeah, McCarthy is ass. He's to blame." I live in a pretty red area of RVA. I was shocked someone other than me defended Biden. Shocked. And the regular wasn't pissed at me. He was really just pissed his people weren't going to get paid next week.
