  1. No one shuts Rodgers down, but my goodness you can't let them get so many YAC every single time. Are they not running tackling drills in Ashburn this year, or something?
  2. Yes, the last couple years have really exposed how much Dan is into Donald Sterling territory. It's beyond the norm, even if the norm isn't perfect. I guarantee the rottenness extends into areas we don't know about yet, and it didn't just start when Bruce Allen showed up.
  3. Sorry, that job is already taken. You'll have to make do with a non-functioning hot tub in Ashburn, Dr. Vermillion's Special Pills, and Bowling with Dan.
  4. How would *you*, Mr. Koolblue, like to play QB for the Washington Whatevers? Dan and his son are already on their way over for a chat...
  5. If whatever "it" is that's in those 650k emails is ugly or widespread enough, just watch the ads on Sunday to see a roster of companies that might no longer want their names associated with the NFL. They pressure the networks, the networks pressure the league, and it's game over. If anyone at the league office has half a brain (and they have some smart people there), they are working at getting ahead of this. Whether the congressional investigation accomplishes anything or not, the information is going to get out there soon simply because we all now know it exists. Inquiring minds want to know. If the emails are just Bruce spending his busy days emailing naughty pictures around, then Dan has nothing to worry about. I have a feeling the emails would already be released if that was the case.
  6. The interesting thing will be to see whether the congresswomen will be willing to back up their request with subpoenas if/when the NFL refuses to turn over the emails.
  7. When discussing franchise QBs, people tend to focus too much on the "QB" part and not enough on the "franchise" part. If Rodgers or Brady had been drafted by the Jets, they'd be long forgotten now. The WFT absolutely need to draft a QB soon (doesn't have to be next year, but probably no later than the year after). However, it's not that simple. Before successfully drafting anyone, the team will have to have scouts and decisionmakers on the same page and adhering to an overall offensive philosophy that allows them to pick the right guy (not necessarily the "best" guy) and then develop him in a productive environment. Don't expect to draft a guy at the top and then have him magically clean up this mess of a franchise with his brilliance. The Ryan Tannehill strategy only works if the team is already playoff-ready and just in need of decent QB play, like the Titans were. The WFT isn't even in that same neighborhood. Don't get someone else's castoff. My main concern is that the WFT is still a mess in the front office. What's the scouting org like? Should Ron be making the calls? Is Dan actually not butting in? In that environment, I'm not sure it matters, unfortunately.
  8. I'd go back in time and fire whoever it was from the NFL who vetted Dan Snyder as a potential owner. Barring that, I don't see a point anymore.
  9. Maybe just take a picture at a time the porta-johns aren't there? I don't know...I suppose that requires more than the 20 minutes' planning that went into this whole sad affair.
  10. Weren't we just asking prior to Sunday whether the franchise had hit rock bottom? Apparently, the shovel is still finding actionable new ground to bite into.
  11. I'd been thinking that the naked cheerleaders video was the achievement of Peak Snyder. This might top that. That picture being taken in front of the porta-potties. i don't even have the words.
  12. Everyone has their breaking point, and I totally understand. I'm pretty close, myself, though it isn't any one thing for me. The Redskins are gone, and whatever this thing is that's supposed to replace it, it's not finding a place in my heart. I'm still paying attention, for now, but I don't know for how much longer.
  13. He definitely redeemed himself, though! Holy moly. Occasionally, the NFL reminds you that it can be fun to watch if the rules and ticky tack penalties don't get in the way.
  14. Wow, that's crazy in the Cowboys/Pats game. Can't even really put it on Mac Jones, since that was a deflection.
  15. I was thinking more of how he's used, not how much. No question he can't hold up as a 'normal' RB. The point of bringing in a guy like that is to take advantage of his pass-catching skills and ability to move in space, and they're not doing much of that. Running him straight at the line most of the time is just a waste of his ability. If he's used in a more versatile way, it'll keep defenses guessing and maybe even allow him to run more successfully. As a whole, the offense never seems to get any rhythm, no matter who's under center. That was true last year, too.
  16. Additional thought after today: Gibson isn't a featured back. I thought they were going to use him like Christian McCaffrey, but that's not happening. I'm certainly not the first to point this out.
  17. Normally I'd say that I see no point in it, but having a somewhat better passer might help develop/evaluate some of the other young guys in the offense. Problem is, Fitz lasted a half in his first go-round. It's not like the OL has changed drastically since then. They really need a mobile QB right now. I voted to wait until Fitz is ready, because that's probably the best of a bunch of bad options.
  18. Despite the Chiefs doing everything they could in the first half to screw it up, the WFT managed to pull out the loss in the second half. On the positive side, I got in a nice nap in the third quarter and into the fourth. Feel much better now. So thanks, WFT.
  19. The WFT wasn't that bad today, apart from the offense, defense and special teams.
  20. In closer at the numbers in that article for the top teams (but not especially closely), what strikes me is that how massively the valuation of every team but the Cowboys and Patriots is based on leaguewide shared revenue. For the WFT, that's about 80% of the $4.3B valuation. Amazingly, for the Giants it's over 90%. What Forbes doesn't seem to indicate is how much each Franchise is contributing to that pot of money. For a team with low local TV ratings and cruddy merch sales, from everything I've read, I can't imagine that WFT are pulling their weight in that regard. Snyder is lucky in having a large market that, as the center of government, uniquely contains a large number of fans of all the other teams who'll attend games, plus a stadium he owns that's paid off (even if he doesn't own the ground under it). None of that is due to his efforts over the last 20 years. He's a free rider on the work other, better people.
  21. Team's been at rock bottom since at least 2013. Problem is, getting there doesn't mean that you automatically get to climb back up.
  22. Oh, you mean there's a game this weekend? I'd kind of forgotten about that.
  23. So, just how many emails does the NYT have, and what is the range of topics? It looks like they're going to milk it for as many stories as possible, which is exactly what I'd do. And typically you wouldn't want to start with the worst stuff, because you want to keep the click-thru rate high even after people have gotten used to the larger story. The question will be whether the Times or the Washington Post can get a source to deliver up more of the emails that aren't part of the Allen v. Snyder lawsuit.
