  1. My sons' cub scout pack had a offer to go to the game today. So glad we didn't. Like I'm going to let them be in the vicinity of 30,000 Eagles fans. 😀
  2. I refuse to try and psychoanalyze this nitwit. His actions indicate that he does want to win. He's just terrible at it and has no talent for listening.
  3. I think it's as simple as the last month of craziness finally catching up with the team. Dead on their feet, and with a preseason roster, to boot. The starters who played just aren't dominant enough to make up for all the rest of it.
  4. The pressing issue is player acquisition, not coaching. It's not just the QB situation, either. Rivera is the guy in charge, and this year's draft/FA results certainly call that into question. It's doubtful he'd accept a demotion to just HC. Even if he would, there's no evidence Dan is capable of hiring a good chief football executive. Even if that miraculously happened, there's no evidence that guy would be allowed to do what's needed. It will always come back to Snyder, sad to say.
  5. Well, on the bright side, I'll be a lot better rested tomorrow. What a disgrace.
  6. Eh, could be. I'm always suspicious of those anonymously sourced stories. My guess is that the NFL wants Bezos more than he wants them. It's all fantasy anyway. The NFL isn't going to force Dan to sell.
  7. I'm in San Antonio for the holidays and had the same problem with the KC game going to the bitter end. It used to be that local affiliates could switch on their own unless they were one of the home markets for the game. Don't know if that changed, though.
  8. Bezos could probably have a team tomorrow if he wanted one. Is there anything other than pure speculation to indicate that he does?
  9. Maybe the Cowboys can bring in some functional sewage pipes the next time they visit FedEx Field.
  10. Next Man Up has its limits, and the WFT exceeded them last night. I can't get too down on the results.
  11. Perhaps one impediment to the league doing anything is that the WFT has become as relevant to the league's marketing and image as the Jaguars or Jets. Just another third-tier team that neither adds appreciably to league revenue nor detracts significantly from it. The Raiders have been a clownshow for many years, but their marketing impact remains huge--which I'm sure helped put pressure on them to ditch Jon Gruden ASAP. It's been 30 years since the Redskins/WFT had anything like that kind of importance.
  12. Sure, but Jerry built his fortune in the oil and gas business. I guarantee he's done things that would make Dan seem like a choirboy.
  13. I have to think that Jerry Jones is capable of being nastier and more threatening than Snyder if it comes down to that. To shut down Dan, the league would need to threaten disclosures that would financially ruin him and possibly expose him to criminal liability. Throw the legal risk back in his face, basically. Short of that, they might be stuck with him unless the business costs of keeping him are higher than the risk of cutting him loose.
  14. That's a very good question, and I don't pretend to know for sure. He was going to sell anyway, wasn't he? I think if he'd dug his heels, the owners wouldn't have taken action against him. It's possible that the NFL is scared of more and worse coming out if they go after Dan, thus making it into a bigger problem affecting other owners.
  15. For the owners to be spurred into doing something about Snyder, this has to stop being a big WFT story and start being a big NFL story. That hasn't happened yet. It's big news here, but not nationwide. There've been stories, but it hasn't gotten long-term traction. The other owners don't really care whether Washington has a competent football team, or even an ethically run one. They just want to avoid trouble for themselves.
  16. Cowboys are bad. If WFT was playing a good team, they'd be behind 40-0.
  17. That was a hell of a grind-it-out effort on the road. A lot of injuries coming in, and I noticed the difference in the offense as soon as Thomas was injured.
  18. Griffin's accusation is just so essentially WFT. It's the Washington Football Teamiest it could be. 😄
  19. I'm going to have to miss this one, alas. I'm on the road by 5:30am on Tuesday mornings, and MNF is not compatible with that schedule. Go Commander Football Wolves Team!!
  20. I grew up in Portland, so I know what you mean. The NFL's notion of TV territories is somewhat odd. I mean, Baltimore and DC are 30 miles apart and yet are separate territories, while San Antonio is five hours from Dallas and yet won't get a team because Jerry Jones considers it his territory. I've read that one of the reasons the NFL isn't hotter on Portland as a prospect is the effect it would have on the Seahawks. I don't know whether that's really true. Portland's not really a football town, and to the extent it is, it's Oregon Ducks first, Seahawks second, and 49ers a distant third. Oregon State's probably in there somewhere, but it mostly only gets supported by alumni. The city could support a team economically, but the overall enthusiasm level isn't there. I think San Diego is now kind of in the same boat as Portland, in that there probably won't be a ton of enthusiasm to spend money to bring another team to town. St. Louis is the most likely relocation target now.
  21. San Diego and St. Louis are the big two. Would they blow a bunch of taxpayer dollars to build Dan Snyder a stadium? At the moment, no, but five years from now if and when the current controversies are quieted it might be different. TV territories are the biggest factor. Would adding a city increase the number of people watching the NFL on TV? Milwaukee "belongs" to the Packers. Portland "belongs" to the Seahawks. San Antonio/Austin "belongs" to the Cowboys.
