  1. My son's (9 and 7) don't seem to give two bits about football, so I haven't had to face this dilemma. Now, if Snyder was involved with Roblox, we'd have a situation on our hands...
  2. It has changed with the Browns with the Watson signing, at least to some extent. One of my friends is/was a fanatical Browns fan. He's giving up on the NFL entirely because of this. I get it. When the men running your favorite sports league start to resemble the Mafia, it's tough to stay enthused and just focus on the players and coaches.
  3. Y'know, I don't criticize anyone who still watches Snyder's franchise hoping that the dead body will somehow come to life. I did that for two decades. I can't do it anymore. As far as I'm concerned now, the Redskins went defunct in 2000. The Commanders aren't my team and can never be until Snyder goes. I'm give em--and the NFL--another chance if he's gone. It's actually kind of nice having those fall afternoons full of pleasant possibilities again.
  4. The NFL's inaction on what is now a ridiculously long list of Snyder's sleazy doings bespeaks arrogance. They think you and I will just keep consuming their entertainment product no matter what they do. I, for one, am ready to prove them wrong. At this point, I'm just monitoring the situation to see if they dump the SOB.
  5. What a long road we've traveled. I still remember being initially reassured by the "belt buckle story" and then getting vaguely uneasy when the words "Vinny Cerrato" first entered our vocabulary. Hard to believe someone could be this evil and this incompetent and still own the team after 23 years.
  6. I thought Snyder owned the building but not the land. He has a a lease that expires in 2027, so it must just be a ground lease.
  7. Or, they push Snyder out of the club and give the "Casablanca" reaction--"I'm shocked to discover there's gambling going on in here!"
  8. Having Mary Jo White take this on doesn't inspire confidence, unless the NFL wants her to find enough to get rid of Dan.
  9. The notion of other owners engaging in financial shenanigans cuts both ways. It's just as likely they'd throw Snyder to the wolves to direct attention away from them. Stonewalling makes them look like coconspirators and assures that any investigation goes league-wide.
  10. I If there was a skim, then the Redskins might have kept it small enough at any one time so as not to arouse auditors' suspicion. An audit isn't a criminal investigation. They're going to look at the books they're given and only raise a concern if things look off.
  11. So, you own a business that's already a cash cow and a continually appreciating asset. Why on Earth would you jeopardize that with this kind of tiddlywinks fraud? In other words, it feels perfectly on-brand for Snyder and his reign of error.
  12. Ideal, but also less likely. Plus, the NY AG can also go after the NFL league office for violations of NY law, which the feds can't do. NY employment law provides more robust worker protections than federal law does. If the league office actively covered up team misconduct, it's at least possible that the NY AG would be well positioned to do something about it. Probably not wise to get hopes up, in any event. It's pretty clear at this point that the owners aren't going to do anything about Snyder except as a last resort--and we're probably a long ways from that.
  13. All that gets you is the Tanya Snyder Era and/or Snyder Jr. We need for the whole family to move on.
  14. Yep, that's for publicly traded companies. Essentially, someone (say, Elon Musk) buys enough stock from third parties selling their shares that the person has enough shareholder votes to control the board of directors. It's only "hostile" to the current management group, who usually gets fired and replaced with a new group. A company with a majority of shares owned by a single person (or investment group) is immune from a hostile takeover, since no one else will ever have a voting majority over that person. So, unless Dan has multiple personalities and one of them decides he'd rather sell the team and go sail around the world on his gaudy yacht, we're out of luck there.
  15. If Jerry felt that strongly about wanting Dan out, then he'd be out already. Most likely they see him as an annoying rash that they don't want to make worse by scratching.
  16. Without trading any picks, the Dan Snyder Football Organization could have drafted the following elite Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks but didn't: --Tom Brady --Russell Wilson --Aaron Rodgers --Drew Brees --Ben Roethlisberger I don't think Dan's reign of error is an accident or that an actual franchise QB is going to magically materialize in their draft shopping cart. He'll make the wrong choice every single time.
  17. Congressional testimony is privileged, so Dan's legal options against Friedman would be minimal.
  18. Depends on how serious the league is about investigating this. It seems from the various rumors that Beth Wilkinson actually did find out the "truth" in her investigation--the league just squelched it. An investigative team hired by the league undoubtedly could figure out what's going on. I wouldn't mistake the silence so far from the prestige media and the league for a cover-up. More like, everybody is trying to get their bearings and develop a strategy. I guarantee that every available hand at the Washington Post is working their sources relentlessly this morning and that the NFL general counsel's office didn't get a lot of sleep this weekend.
