  1. I'll give it to Heinicke, he showed a lot of *moxie* in the second half. It wasn't pretty, but he got it done.
  2. The owners have to be starting to realize that parachuting anyone else into Ashburn isn't going to fix anything, and that their Dan problem isn't going to disappear down the memory hole so that they can "get back to business." It's gone too far for that.
  3. Perhaps Snyder's inability to get a stadium deal done has clarified minds among the owners. It's a direct, real-world consequence of all the bad behavior that led to the Wilkinson investigation. Also, it may be that Jerry's power and influence isn't what it once was. There are a number of newer owners around the league who are massively wealthy in their own right and might not be as "awed" by him.
  4. I now wonder how much of that was propaganda. I mean, he's always been willing to write a big check when it would generate publicity. However, my sense is that he was willing to let everything else under the surface deteriorate rather than spend $$$$ to be a first-class organization. It just had to *look* good at a glance. I recall an article some years ago (maybe around the time Shanahan was hired) talking about how threadbare Redskins Park seemed in comparison to other NFL team facilities.
  5. Most of us probably went through that phase. You almost have to believe it to justify remaining a fan. Also, it's reasonable to think that a guy in his 30s would grow into the job. His complete lack of growth or evolution is actually quite amazing. He seems to be the same **** he was 20 years ago.
  6. To be precise, it was the ****ty owner's father that went to Indy, though he was plenty ****ty himself. Seems to be lots of that quality to go around in the NFL owners club.
  7. Wentz is a tough guy and is already injured and missing time by Week 7. With this OL, I'm more worried about Heinecke's health than I am about his performance. Can we just play one of the reserve OL at "quarterback" and direct snap to the RBs?
  8. Does Snyder really want to start something against 30* people who are all richer than he is, smarter than he is, and have better lawyers? Green Bay gets the asterisk, of course. This doofus apparently thinks he can play all of them with his cheapo PI stuff.
  9. This whole season is beginning to enter the Zorn Zone. I do, however, think there'll some sad "mini-run" later in the season that gets the Commanders to 5-6 wins. It's the Ron Way.
  10. The league does give a damn, because money is involved. If this article is accurate, it's the exit strategy that's uncertain. What CANNOT happen is a publicly funded stadium for Snyder.
  11. The ESPN aspect on this is huge. Keim and friends are good journalists, but a League Partner would never have run this without NFL signoff. Something has to be in the works. It's pretty obvious. I'm not going to presume it's what we all want, however.
  12. And this is undoubtedly why Belichick gives those grudging single-word answers at his press conferences. Most of the possible outcomes are bad, so why risk it?
  13. I've only watched about three quarters of actions this season, but my take from that amount of time is that Wentz is sort of "Cousins with a big arm". He'll get into a groove for a while during a game and you'll think that he's really the guy, but then that killer mistake is always right around the corner. He's not horrible, but he's also not the guy to carry a bad team on his shoulders.
  14. I knew--I KNEW--that the Commanders weren't going to score on that last drive. You could just feel it. It's a disorganized mess from top to bottom. I figured I'd relax for a while in front of the TV this afternoon and get a few chuckles, and I wasn't disappointed. The Commanders are a terrible football team, but a passable comedy troupe.
  15. That was such a classic Commanders ending. And this was only their fifth game ever. I KNEW it would end badly, even at first and goal from the 2. The Titans tried really hard to lose, and they simply couldn't manage it.
  16. There were big stories around the time the cheerleader allegations first came out. Not as much since then. If this were the Cowboys or a NY team, there'd probably be more heat. Or, if a prominent NFL player or group of players was willing to publicly criticize Snyder. At this point, to the non-interested observer there hasn't been much new to report on this story in a while. The basic lines are well-drawn. If the league isn't willing to do anything about Snyder and the players aren't willing to collectively come out against him, then there's not much new to say.
  17. Every week is a Code Brown Game with this team. FKA Oilers 24 FKA Redskins 10
  18. I'll get all zen and say that the lack of identity *is* the identity. I just happened to be setting up the TV in our new house today and tuned in for the second quarter. The first time I'd watched this year. It was the same disorganized and confused mess as two years ago. Many of the names have changed, but nothing else has. Plays and approaches are chosen seemingly at random on both sides of the ball, and no momentum ever builds.
  19. Yep. And the Cowboys would be down big against a more competent team. They need Dak back ASAP.
  20. My god, can someone please tailor Dan's slacks? Does he intentionally buy ill fitting trousers? Somebody should tell him he's probably finished growing.
  21. This is a huge underlying factor for my own apathy. If I stilled loved the NFL generally, what's happened to the Redskins/WFT/Commanders would aggravate me more than it does. For me, the pro game has gotten harder to watch. The rule changes and replay have made things worse. I feel like the NFL as a whole reached it's zenith in the late '80s with the golden age of the NFC East and the mix of increased passing and traditional toughness, and it's been slowly downhill since (even as the profits have gotten bigger). I'll also be honest and say that at least as much a part is how I've changed over the years. Spending all those hours each week watching a bunch of jock dudes scrabble over an oblong leather sack just isn't a big a priority with all I have going on now. It's kind of "been there, done that." If it was still the Redskins and there was no Dan Snyder involved, would I watch? Absolutely. But it'd never be like it was for me when I was younger and more passionate about the sport.
  22. I've given up trying to figure out what would convince Dan to sell voluntarily. He seems so spiteful and stubborn that all of the ideas we discuss might actually drive him to hang on longer "just to show us". As for the owners forcing him out over the lack of a new stadium, they put up with Bill Bidwill's incompetence for over 40 years. I don't see them sacking Dan unless they have no realistic alternative. Each other looks out for his own. Wish I could be more optimistic about this.
