  1. I'd go back in time and fire whoever it was from the NFL who vetted Dan Snyder as a potential owner. Barring that, I don't see a point anymore.
  2. Maybe just take a picture at a time the porta-johns aren't there? I don't know...I suppose that requires more than the 20 minutes' planning that went into this whole sad affair.
  3. Weren't we just asking prior to Sunday whether the franchise had hit rock bottom? Apparently, the shovel is still finding actionable new ground to bite into.
  4. I'd been thinking that the naked cheerleaders video was the achievement of Peak Snyder. This might top that. That picture being taken in front of the porta-potties. i don't even have the words.
  5. Everyone has their breaking point, and I totally understand. I'm pretty close, myself, though it isn't any one thing for me. The Redskins are gone, and whatever this thing is that's supposed to replace it, it's not finding a place in my heart. I'm still paying attention, for now, but I don't know for how much longer.
  6. He definitely redeemed himself, though! Holy moly. Occasionally, the NFL reminds you that it can be fun to watch if the rules and ticky tack penalties don't get in the way.
  7. Wow, that's crazy in the Cowboys/Pats game. Can't even really put it on Mac Jones, since that was a deflection.
  8. I was thinking more of how he's used, not how much. No question he can't hold up as a 'normal' RB. The point of bringing in a guy like that is to take advantage of his pass-catching skills and ability to move in space, and they're not doing much of that. Running him straight at the line most of the time is just a waste of his ability. If he's used in a more versatile way, it'll keep defenses guessing and maybe even allow him to run more successfully. As a whole, the offense never seems to get any rhythm, no matter who's under center. That was true last year, too.
  9. Additional thought after today: Gibson isn't a featured back. I thought they were going to use him like Christian McCaffrey, but that's not happening. I'm certainly not the first to point this out.
  10. Normally I'd say that I see no point in it, but having a somewhat better passer might help develop/evaluate some of the other young guys in the offense. Problem is, Fitz lasted a half in his first go-round. It's not like the OL has changed drastically since then. They really need a mobile QB right now. I voted to wait until Fitz is ready, because that's probably the best of a bunch of bad options.
  11. Despite the Chiefs doing everything they could in the first half to screw it up, the WFT managed to pull out the loss in the second half. On the positive side, I got in a nice nap in the third quarter and into the fourth. Feel much better now. So thanks, WFT.
  12. The WFT wasn't that bad today, apart from the offense, defense and special teams.
  13. In closer at the numbers in that article for the top teams (but not especially closely), what strikes me is that how massively the valuation of every team but the Cowboys and Patriots is based on leaguewide shared revenue. For the WFT, that's about 80% of the $4.3B valuation. Amazingly, for the Giants it's over 90%. What Forbes doesn't seem to indicate is how much each Franchise is contributing to that pot of money. For a team with low local TV ratings and cruddy merch sales, from everything I've read, I can't imagine that WFT are pulling their weight in that regard. Snyder is lucky in having a large market that, as the center of government, uniquely contains a large number of fans of all the other teams who'll attend games, plus a stadium he owns that's paid off (even if he doesn't own the ground under it). None of that is due to his efforts over the last 20 years. He's a free rider on the work other, better people.
  14. Team's been at rock bottom since at least 2013. Problem is, getting there doesn't mean that you automatically get to climb back up.
  15. Oh, you mean there's a game this weekend? I'd kind of forgotten about that.
  16. So, just how many emails does the NYT have, and what is the range of topics? It looks like they're going to milk it for as many stories as possible, which is exactly what I'd do. And typically you wouldn't want to start with the worst stuff, because you want to keep the click-thru rate high even after people have gotten used to the larger story. The question will be whether the Times or the Washington Post can get a source to deliver up more of the emails that aren't part of the Allen v. Snyder lawsuit.
  17. You really think he would have made it that far? I doubt he could stack the apples without ****ing it up.
  18. Can't disagree. It's just that being a good guy by itself would represent a significant upgrade in SnyderLand. Not a substitute for competence, but that left the building a long time ago.
  19. Jason seems like a good guy, but he has no experience running a company, that I'm aware of. He's probably got a bunch of new people just winging it. I can imagine the thought process: nameless team and upset longtime fans. Initial name change promo looked like it was trying to erase the legacy. Hey, let's have some initiatives to stoke nostalgia while being very careful not to use the R-word. I'm sure this is part of a campaign launched this summer. It's just that the people in charge don't know how to do stuff.
  20. Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by incompetence. That ought to be the sign at the entrance of Redskins Park. Or whatever they're calling it now.
  21. Davis got the shiny new stadium Dan wants and currently has a playoff-caliber team taking the field every week. Dan just knows how to play nasty better, I guess.
  22. I know all that, and in fact I've been on the management/employer side of severance agreements with NDAs. Doesn't change the fact that NDAs in the sexual harassment context have come under widespread criticism, to the point where New York State has banned them.
  23. Didn't include the tweet in my quote of your post for space reasons, but it's standard practice to run a pending story by the subject to get a reply or comment. In fact, journalistic ethics (and media legal departments) demand it. What isn't kosher would be giving the subject veto or edit power over the contents. Schefter's email to Bruce is unclear on which of these things is going on. It's pretty certain he'd never burn a source, and I think he's open about being basically a conduit of information NFL people want to share rather than a traditional journalist attempting to "get to the truth."
  24. There's been a huge wave of criticism of NDAs in settlement of sexual harassment lawsuits or complaints. Wright was supposed to be changing the culture away from silencing victims. I didn't say the WFT or Snyder lacked the power to offer such terms, merely that doing so is just part of the same-old same-old that the team is supposed to be getting away from. This is from February, not during the Bruce era, so it's on the current management's watch. I'm not accusing of Wright of misconduct--but pointing out the possibility that he's not really in charge of things like making decisions in the company's legal matters.
