  1. Right, but how many years of bureaucratic stuff was involved before those stadiums got to that point, and did Congress or federal agencies have to be involved? I'm not rejecting the idea of the RFK site. That's where the stadium should go. It just ain't happening in 2027.
  2. What Snyder is alleged to have been stopped by his attorney from doing could have been criminal conduct. If the other NFL owners knew about this allegation, then we're talking something very different. I do understand (and want to emphasize) that it's an allegation. None of us here know what happened. If Ms. Johnston only came forward with this after the investigation was over, that's a different situation. However, Wilkinson and her team interviewed hundreds of current and former employees. Of course, we don't know exactly because no report was created or released. This opens up a real can of worms for the league, should prominent media outlets choose to run with the story. I assume Congress will do nothing.
  3. According to the little indicator in the bottom righthand part of my computer monitor, it's now 2022. There's approximately zero chance that a new stadium that hasn't even been sited yet could be ready in time for the 2027 season. Even assuming that Bowser could make the federal ownership problem with the RFK site go away, they haven't even demolished RFK yet, let alone dealt with the myriad lawsuits and land-use/zoning NIMBY obstructions that would be coming their way. DC is a neighborhood activist's dream city. That thing could be held up for years before a single bit of ground is dug up.
  4. So, the NFL is saying that Tiffani Johnston's allegations are "new." Did she speak to Beth Wilkinson's team or not? This whole thing is so rotten. I'm assuming there's much worse info involved, and it goes further than the "Commanders".
  5. This feels like the final step in a long grieving process over something that died years ago. It's not just about the new name or uniforms. This is the culmination of a long history of misery. Do you want more of that in your life?
  6. It's obvious that Snyder really wants a stadium/casino/mixed use thingy in DC. I'm assuming this bit with Bowser's statement was coordinated in advance. Snyder will try to play jurisdictions off of each other, but I'm sure a DC deal is the end goal.
  7. Okay, so here I am like a total chump watching the Today Show. This better be humorous, at least.
  8. Whatever they do, the WFT needs to go all in on someone they think can actually take them the distance. Not some placeholder guy like they did this year. Unfortunately, what's what Garoppolo or Mariota would be.
  9. Samaje Perine made a key play to get his team to the Super Bowl. Let that sink in for a second.
  10. Dan Snyder needs gamblers given the paucity of fans of his football team. I live right near there, and one downside of the CIT site is the lack of local street infrastructure. The only ways in there currently are two exits on Rt. 28--Innovation Ave. or Sterling Rd., and Sterling Road is already a traffic mess at many times of day. It would take some serious infrastructure build-out to make that site sufficiently accessible to car traffic. Also, I can guarantee that people living in the vicinity won't want a stadium in their backyard. The area is populated heavily by tech newcomers who probably weren't around for the Redskins' glory days and don't give two hoots about the team. All they'll see is really bad traffic and spillover effects.
  11. The issue isn't whether the Giants hired the right guy or not, it's whether that guy will be given the time and tools to succeed. Mara the Younger hasn't shown a lot of patience. It really does start from the top. That's a question mark with the Giants. Not so with the WFT, sadly.
  12. The Nats moved into DC many years ago now. Why the heck does Virginia still have a baseball authority at all? No to public money going to Snyder. Just no.
  13. Look on the bright side. Jerry signed on for years of bumbling playoff mediocrity. I guess that's a step up from the annual agonizing Jason Garrett Week 17 where they don't get to the playoffs at all...
  14. Things can turn quickly in the NFL these days, so I suppose the essential question is whether the Eagles are better run than the WFT and more capable of building on whatever it is they accomplished this year.
  15. I looked it up, and you're correct. Basically, John Mara inherited Coughlin and Eli and the entire functional organization. Once all that drifted away (or was fired), John hasn't had the same success, and he's running the NFC version of the New Jersey NFL Dumpster Fire.
  16. The lack of ongoing upkeep on the turf and structure is all on Danny Boy.
  17. The curse is Dan Snyder, and he's very much among the living. No need to go hunting for causation.
  18. I'm in no way suggesting that John Mara is as big a nitwit as Dan Snyder, but the organizations are starting to bear a certain resemblance.
  19. Historically, I don't think GMs got fired as quickly as they do now. They had longer to implement their plans and hire coaches etc. Now, they're just like coaches where they get three years or less to show progress or they're out. Thus, it's hard to make it all line up in a single offseason. Tough to rebuild an entire football organization from scratch in a couple months. There's no possibility of success in Washington unless and until Snyder hires an actual football organization manager to run the team completely without Dan's interference or involvement. He's never done that, and I think at this point it's unlikely he ever will. It'll either be lackeys like Vinny/Bruce or "savior coaches" like Gibbs, Shanahan and Rivera. The pattern is well-established.
  20. D+ They might have snuck into the playoffs again if the Covid bug and a whole bunch of injuries hadn't decimated the team at key positions in the final third of the season. Maybe better they didn't--no way this team was going to the Super Bowl, and they gained a few placed in the draft order by not making it. Talent level at the skill positions on offense is still thin, and the linebacker situation needs to be addressed for real this offseason.
  21. Didn't that one picture of the railing clearly show a failed (and really ugly) weld? I doubt this is the first time that fans were pressed up against the railing trying to greet the players. Heck, you see it all the time on TV at game's end. Let's face it, the stadium isn't being maintained or fixed and is falling apart. It's quintessentially Snyder to go cheap on the maintenance. I remember reading that Redskins Park looked kind of shabby a few years ago.
  22. I don't see many good and realistic options for next season, to be honest. The decision might hinge on how much heat Ron will get to get to the playoffs next season--that's unlikely with a rookie under center.
