  1. That breakdown above is hard to argue with. I keep wondering what good coaches could do to this underperforming roster.
  2. I could not find the post to quote it but I disagree that every franchise QB is made and not found. If SF "made" Brock Purdy then why didn't they make Trey Lance after investing so much into him? Now clearly the environment is huge, I think we all agree Purdy would not be having such success in Washington. But CJ Stroud is playing well not only because of his coaching, he surely did not go to a good situation. He is playing well because some guys that are drafted are actual franchise QBs while most will never be franchise QBs. The trick to identify the right one which is nearly impossible.
  3. I just never heard anyone say he looked physically tired in his previous game, so it's hard to imagine that set in after a week off is all I'm saying. i have no doubt the season, especially a season like this, is a grind. I do believe such a long season full of hits has taken it's toll. But no I do not believe throwing across his body into coverage or flat out missing throws is because his arm is tired.
  4. No the poster I quoted said he was physically tired, used running a marathon 2 days after a 100 mile run as an analogy. To me he looks more frustrated than physically tired. His head is down because they are losing badly and he is playing poorly is my thought.
  5. I am optimistic because, unlike college football, we see teams rise from the ashes and become good quickly every season. Detroit, Jacksonville (outside of a few years), before that the Bengals and Browns were doormats for decades and now all these teams are in the playoff hunt. .
  6. I have not seen every play, I can only see what they show on Red Zone or when they play in prime time including last night. But I have seen him a fair amount and to be honest I have no idea how you can claim today, right now, that Trevor Lawrence is one of the stars in the league. His stats certainly don't reflect that, I have never heard or read anyone who has this take on Lawrence.
  7. Is he shell shocked from all the hits? I can totally buy that. But to say he is tired, physically or mentally, after a bye week is something I can't buy.
  8. Playing QB once a week is not like running marathon. And he sure did not have to do it 2 days after running 100 miles. He had a week off. I have no doubt he is beat up but his physical health is no excuse for being wildly inaccurate and making bad decisions.
  9. Not to mention trotting him out there week after week months after he should have been released. F Ron Rivera.
  10. There have been countless young QBs who have shown flashes to get their fans excited. Very few have developed into franchise QBs. Howell has regressed. Big time. I don't think it's fair to call out fans for giving a take that could very well turn out to be accurate.
  11. I didn't have a problem with the Campbell pick, he looks to be a good player. And so is Gibbs obviously. But one look around the league shows that you can find good running backs later in the draft and it was hard for me to justify taking just about any running back in the first round. Said the same thing when the Steelers took Harris.
  12. Seeing Ron finally admit "it's time" regarding Cheesman will be how I remember him. Just total incompetence.
  13. Yeah I can't understand Kam's regression. The safety play here has been so bad for so long he looked really good by comparison his first years. I wanted them to sign him long term to solidify a problem position. Now I'm not so sure. I agree with the thought to bring him back if the deal is at market price, if not find another one as there are several options.
  14. I firmly believe this will be a desirable job. The ownership group, the draft capital and salary cap space as well as being a former storied franchise would be appealing to a lot of candidates. Herbert is going nowhere. I am not a big Jon Allen guy, always felt he was overrated, but if they trade him as has been discussed here then they have only 1 legit DL on the roster. A strength suddenly will be a big need that will need to be addressed.
  15. His off seasons and drafts, without looking it up, were probably worse. RR got virtually nothing out of every 1st and 2nd round pick he has made. His free agent signings were horrific. I honestly can't see how anyone could have done a worse job assembling a roster.
  16. This is a great summary. I was totally onboard with RR the coach, not at all with giving him full power. I too believe he is a "good man". But I am so sick of him and his excuses. He sounds so clueless and actually believes he is leaving a good roster. I can't wait to see him shipped out of town.
  17. I'm not sure what the Lions draft looked like 2 years ago but the drafts here, especially this last one, produced virtually no talent on rookie contracts which is crucial to any roster. I think it will take several good drafts to overcome this.
  18. As my family is from Michigan I follow the Lions and am very happy for their success. But I sure don't think Gibbs was the right pick, do you? They could have had Jalen Carter or others instead they took a RB where they could have found a similar back later in the draft.
  19. I would never complain if they got a player like Harrison at 4. If they stay in that spot they will have a ton of options with 3 QBs. If they fall to 5 and don't trade back I guess they would have to take their favorite OT but I am convinced that would not be good value..
  20. This is my best guess as of right now: 1. Bears take Williams 2. Pats take Maye 3. Cards take Harrison Now what to the Commanders do at 4 this is where it will get interesting. If they roll with Sam and trade out of the pick and acquire additional picks in a deep draft while obtaining a 1st in 2025, which is my preference, well that says a lot about Sam Howell as I'm going to assume these new guys know what they are doing. This is a very good sign. If they do not believe in Howell, or believe they can do a lot better, then Daniels will be the selection.
  21. I have not seen Fuaga rated higher than Sewell. For what it's worth I went to one site and looked at their evaluation of both. Fuaga overall grade was 87.5 Sewall was 93.0 https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Penei-Sewell-OT-Oregon https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Taliese-Fuaga-OL-OregonState Fuaga will probably be solid but for the reasons posted in this thread I just don't see that as a value pick at all.. Yes this was more of what I had in mind. If they do not take a QB, and I remain undecided about that, then trade back to a place where they can still get a elite talent while still finding the OL that are needed. Ideally the trade down will include a first next year. If Bowers falls to their new pick that would be great, if he does not they will still be able to find a good OT prospect and will be sitting on another 1st rounder for next season.
  22. Your reply to me was unclear, now I see you don't want to draft a QB and roll with Howell. But my scenario was if they do take a QB. What do you do with Howell? He won't fetch more than a 3rd I would think and with the bust rate of top 5 QBs so high I think it would be foolish to give a young QB with tools and upside away for a 3rd.
  23. That has always been my issue with taking a left tackle in the top 5. This is a deep OT class, the way to build a team is maximizing the value of every pick and a LT at 4 or 5 is just not good value.
