  1. I stand by my position that Boz was more right than wrong when we look back at Chase Young's career in Washington. He was on it early and he appears to have been correct so no I don't see that as an example of low IQ media coverage. As for Borrow he will be in Cincy, and as a result they will be in the conversation of contenders, for a long long time. Your injury points are pure speculation with no medical basis
  2. As long as Joe Burrow is the QB in Cincy their window is open. I have no idea how anyone can't see how this one player alone changed their team's future considerably. Well it is obviously debatable because we are debating it. 😁 We can spend all day defining bust but it seems pretty clear that Boz was more right than wrong as Chase was not offered a 5th year and was traded for a 3rd round comp pick. Nobody expected that to happen on the day he was drafted.
  3. Yes I had corrected my error. We can argue the merits of Young winning the DPOY award, IMO it was on rep alone and he didn't really have a season like other DROY (Micah Parsons) have had. But I actually don't think Bos was that far off, maybe bust is too strong a word but it sure feels that way to me
  4. As long as they don't trade up they will lost a top 5 pick (we are assuming they are picking 5 or the QBs probably won't be there). That is brutal but not crippling as long as they retain Howell as insurance in case the pick busts. I totally agree with the argument that most top 3 QB picks don't pan out and so many of the top QBs in the league were not all drafted there. But it does improve your odds substantially and if you have the chance to grab a true franchise guy you have to pull the trigger IMO.
  5. Was Boswell wrong when he called Chase a bust after 6-7 games? I know he's not a Courtney Brown bust but he is no longer here and never gave us what we expected so I don't think Boz was so off base. But the QB position is different. Cincy has shown how you can install a great QB and even with the crappy OL they made a Super Bowl very quickly. Now I'm not suggesting the QBs who may be available are rated this highly but if you have the chance to draft a potential franchise QB you have to pull the trigger and figure out the other problems later. A LT would be the safe pick and would lead to immediate results. But I'm pretty convinced none of these LTs will be a value pick in the top 5.
  6. it's one thing to have the GM order it, another if it's the owner who would appear to be meddling in football operations. But yeah I'd like to see it too.
  7. Yeah I was wondering about that. But keeping Howell IMO limits their upside, I don't think too many people around the league consider Sam Howell a potential franchise QB but I could be wrong. I like Howell but he won't grown, maybe he can cure his years long habit of holding the ball too long. Maybe.
  8. I'm convinced a LT with their first pick will not be good value, there just isn't a left tackle in this draft that I see as elite. And this team needs elite players as we have discussed. I'm warming to Daniels after looking at him harder. As much as I was encouraged with Howell at times I just don't ever see him as a guy who can take a team to the playoffs by himself. QBs who are not top 10 tend to fade in January. But man a choice between any of the 3 QBs and Harrison would be a great situation. They absolutely must lose out. I know it's premature but if they do take a QB what do they do with Sam Howell? I would keep him, at least you have a viable backup as well as insurance should the pick not work out. But wondering what his value around the league would be. A 2nd? I have no idea.
  9. While we all sort of feel this way I'd like to think our karma changed the day Daniel Snyder sold the team.
  10. I gave up on Maryland Football years ago, it's pointless to follow such a program. But I am a huge hoops fan and actually thought they would be pretty good.. Because I believed the hype about the incoming freshman. Kaiser is just so slow and unathletic, I expected much more. Harris-Smith flat out sucks. He can not even hit the rim on his 3 ball and he is learning that all the tough finishes he showed in high school are misses and blocks at the college level. Just so so disappointed. But I was into last night's game, figured this may be one of the few games where they are competitive. The first half was some of the worst basketball I've ever seen. All the empty seats did not exactly enhance the experience. But suddenly the game got very good. Relieved they got a win, won't have too many happy endings this year.
  11. I only saw it for one season to be honest with you.. I believe it was the year after he signed the big deal which is a credit to him.. Before and after that year I always considered him overrated. I'm sticking with "good" as that is what he was IMO. Now he isn't even that. But I think it's premature to jettison the few good players we have on this team. I really believe they deserve a shot with better coaches before we can really make an evaluation. Posters are talking about trading both DTs. Well that would surely be a quick total dismantling of a DL that many thought was good. I'm not ready to do a complete start over with the DL, that could take years.
  12. Up until this season he was a good player, nothing more. For this season at least he isn't even that; And he is paid like an elite player. Now in a year where he has done nothing but help the team lose he is popping off. I can sure understand why there is pushback against that.
  13. I would argue after this season Jon Allen's value could not be lower. What is the free agent market for tight ends look like? Rookie TEs rarely do a lot, this could be an easy and quick way to find a young QB some help.
  14. Osaka taught me never to read anything into preseason. But in the opener it was obvious this team still sucked.
  15. I have been biting my tongue to some extent on Allen. Outside of one season I just never saw this great player everyone else claimed he was. I was told he was invaluable in the locker room. But now, after he did nothing to earn his $25 million he is crying? Just what has he done to help the team win?
  16. In all honesty I was excited when the opener kicked off. By the 2nd quarter I literally said to my wife "same old crap team".
  17. I'm just asking if we have that guy already on the roster. He came out with as a solid center prospect no?
  18. But I was not talking about this year, I'm wondering if he can be the center moving forward next season. Have you heard any reports of his performance pre injury, how was his play in limited time this season and in training camp? I'm going to assume he is still rehabbing now.
  19. Obviously this is the time to lock down the LT spot but most of the pressure and problems remain on the interior. I've asked before but can't seem to find anything on Stromberg before he was hurt. Was he playing well in training camp? I have no idea. Center is a huge need and this guy came out as a good prospect but I've got nothing to go on.
  20. I think Ron and the entire team has clearly checked out. But I didn't see any evidence of that post cancer treatment. As posted above he has just never been a good NFL head coach.
  21. Jets game will be the game of the year, a must lose. Can't wait.
  22. Players like Gibson are easily replaced, the new guy could offer more. For all his speed I don't remember too many big plays from Gibson. He can't keep hold of the ball, has a lot of drops in limited opportunities as a pass catcher and just doesn't see the hole well because he was not a running back. I have decided unless Harrison falls to them, and I don't see that happening, they should just take the best LT when it's their turn and lock down the position once and for all. I don't really want to see big trade ups, I'm going to assume this new staff will be better at player evaluation so given the number of swings they will have just use their picks on BPA and lets see what they get. They can use upgrades at most every position so BPA will not only result in better players it will also fill needs.
  23. Yeah I don't understand why people suggest he can play WR when he has not shown the ability to be a receiving RB at this level.
  24. Still waiting for Lawrence to live up to his rep and actually become blue chip. Hasn't happened yet.
