The problem isn’t that the Middle East has a worse history than the rest of the world the problem is (for the most part) the rest of the world advanced into modern history and they’re stuck in 7th century bull****. of course they could figure it out. But there’s no reason to think they will any time soon. add to it the super powers of the world seem continent using them for their proxy war and other things… wake me when backasswards repressive religion and dictatorships don’t dominate the landscape.

If this goes to game 6 I’ve got center ice tickets to take my 8 year old. Unfortunately games 3 and 4 are while we’re in Chicago for my wife’s doctorate program graduation. obviously I want the caps to win the series but super hoping I get to take him to game 6. I want him to see that game it ovie still on the team.

I totally understand what you’re saying. And maybe you’re right. but my initial thought when he was gone was - yeah that makes sense, you’re trying to build something from scratch at this point, why on earth would you want that remnant from the previous regime hanging on? do you really want your rookie qb hearing Howell chants after throwing an interception? **** that. We had/have some players I like but if it was possible to dump them all and start with 0 I would have done that. I think they’ve come as close to doing that as you can …

Feels weird to see rolling back of child labor laws and solving Medicare/ssa problems by upping the age you can claim it ill never understand people that support either (or both cause those people exist too)

The problem is everyone works on relatively short duration numbers. Inflation rate is down compared to recently but because we haven’t experienced deflation, we still have to deal with all the inflation as a cumulative issue. Great it’s not as high as it was - prices are still very high and only continuing to go up. at some point the new normal will be accepted (we’re never going back to 2015-2019 pricing) and it’ll stop mattering. But we’re clearly not there yet. and the Biden admin and their loyalists seem completely incapable of understanding this for some reason.

I absolutely understand the need/desire to leverage the situation to get things through. I’ll add - the republicans have a solid history recently of not holding up their end of the deal. That aside, I still absolutely understand why one would want that and that is the “correct strategy”. Im still rooting for a situation where the minority party holds the speakership and I don’t really care how we get there. if you’re going to make me watch a circus then make it entertaining. To be honest, not that I’m doing a good job of tracking it, it the things @PleaseBlitzsuggested seem to me to be a starting point of what’s owed for previous deal breaking. Then they should ask for more as part of a new deal. not that it could happen like that. I’m just saying, if you’re keeping score that’s how I believe the scoreboard reads currently.

I think he’s trying to get him to move off of arguments that aren’t any good. Ie: stop wasting everyone’s time Idk whether he has additional arguments but it sounds like the ones about the text of the statue aren’t any good. (doesn’t seem out of place for oral arguments, I don’t know if casual is the right term but they’re certainly very different than normal court proceedings and the justices like to play devils advocate or just pick the person brain or expand beyond the scope of the case and basically whatever else they want to do…)

The guy who said it didn’t win the legislature is the one refusing to do it. They literally didn’t elect him and instead elected the democrat …

Oh good, we get to do this again. It’ll be great fun if the dems manage to get a couple republicans to vote for Jeffries just to end the insanity 😂 Of course, they don’t need to convince them to vote for Jeffries. they just need to abstain from voting 😂

I’m imagining the scenario is everyone did their part to put it all together and spent days if not weeks waiting for the final signature. Only to have Trump literally wait until the last minute to sign, right up against a deadline, causing such and oversight one that probably in a regular business dealing not subject to such scrutiny slips by. Only to be discovered when he doesn’t pay them back, they go to enforce the contract, which then creates leverage for team Trump to litigate or refuse to pay. Ultimately ending in him not paying or paying a significantly reduced amount as a settlement. his people are known for creating and abusing such situations. There’s a list miles long of small contractors claiming they never got paid because they couldn’t afford to go after him on the contract.
