  1. That’s the odd thing. The news says the boat was out of channel for a while before trying to cross. Given that being out of channel is a huge no-no, I would think they were aware they were having problems for a while. it’ll be interesting to see the final report on timeline and decision making. I have no idea where responsibility lies with all that. I would think ultimately the captain is responsible for his ship, including maintenance and issues that lead to this. it seems unlikely given what we know, that it was some act of god out of everyone’s hands. Seems more likely some bad decisions were made edit: as buzz points out - I have no idea what I’m talking about so, maybe it was a bizarre act of god and not anyone’s “fault” Some of the people they are trying to rescue/find, were people doing concrete repairs on the bridge when it happened.
  2. I imagine the port can’t reopen until the bridge is removed from the water… so… gonna be a while a while… then they have to build a new bridge
  3. well. Here we are https://www.wired.com/story/deepfake-nude-generator-chilling-look-at-its-victims/ two middle schoolers in Florida already arrested for doing this with photos of their classmates. but yeah, every time you upload a photo you’re likely putting it out there permanently, and that person will show up on many of the porn sites. Going to be interesting watching how courts deal with this and what punishments are determined to be for doing it.
  4. If another one resigns they should use the rules to recall speaker. Maybe they need another 2? Idk anymore
  5. That is exactly how I felt and feel. It still shocks me when people write a list of issues with Snyder, and it’s not even on the list… I cannot understand why that never got traction. My assumption is that as much as people are on the “me too” movement, most people still look at cheerleaders in a way that allows them to write this off as nothing or something they deserved or something inherent to the life they chose…
  6. The maga propaganda machine runs like clockwork and it’s great when you know how to read it. case in point - the “let them have it” would appear to me to be getting out in front of the fact that it’ll be seized. Which means they know it’ll be seized. Which is fantastic news.
  7. Yeah and any time you feel slightly inclined to give a little praise, recall he was part of filming cheerleaders naked without the knowledge (much less permission) and circulating it around his little crew of frat boy jerkoffs. or any of the other ways in which he humiliated, demeaned, or outright went after another person simply because he thought he could
  8. this was my first thought. im curious what the American cancer society does with a 30k sq for mansion. I imagine just sell it (which is what they suggest they’ll do in the article) i am glad he wasn’t able to sell it. **** that guy. I hope his yacht sinks.
  9. Maybe. I live in Virginia and I knew Miami had a curfew. you don’t see the start of things in the video - which is typical for police situations, we always see when things go sideways and not the 10 minutes that led up to it. if I had to guess - she knew what she was doing, she just thought she’d get away with it. Like many people I presume think they’ll get away with violating the curfew. Unfortunately the only way to solve that is to show everyone you won’t get away with it, by arresting the ones that try at the start. we’ve turned into a society that generally is disrespectful towards authority, then complain when authority does something about it. the city proactively informed everyone - it was a national story. Presumably there are signs, radio ads, and the police were warning apeople as curfew approached (in my experience they do) it’s your job to understand the rules. It’s not anyone’s job to make sure you understand them, outside the government making it easy to look them up (which they do.). Therefore it’s not anyone’s fault when you get in trouble for breaking the rules, except yours. None of which would matter if there wasn’t the history of mayhem with spring break tin Miami that there is.
  10. Correct that’s what a curfew means.
  11. NRA might qualify also maybe eventually the GOP/RNC 😂
  12. Yes. It takes a while to destroy rigorous engineering processes. and it is very hard to put them back in place especially since destroying them in the first place resorts in a money issue americans have an unhealthy infatuation with the stock market, and in many ways don’t even understand the thing they’re obsessed with. worse - the people responsible have made a ton of money and likely have a golden parachute in place for when they are kicked out. None of them will see prison. Whatever find there are will be handled by the org. I’ve always thought that if you wanted to stop rich people from doing things that are devastating to the rest of us - put them in prison. Fines are meaningless. Put them in prison and suddenly it matters and others take note. Purdue pharma is a great recent example.
  13. If I were the mother I’d see if I could file charges against the kid for harassment and theft. **** this started with the supposed victim committing multiple crimes. So. Let’s have fun with it!
  14. Sounds like an asshole kid got the least he deserves I’m of the mind that if the child or parent has to take control of a bullying situation, the school has failed and is responsible.
  15. I know Boeing disputed it and I’m not sure how it finalized but if I recall correctly they originally chose airbus edit: well I can’t find any articles on it so maybe I just made that up 😂
  16. My guess is it’ll happen soon to save face. Don’t think it’ll help much short term.
  17. Right - but Boeing as it exists currently will not be how it exists in the future. I imagine entire c-suite turnover, as well as upper management. They may need to rebrand, or maybe even broken up. My point is I think we’ve reached a point where it’s clear something very drastic will occur with Boeing. but it’s just my opinion. also just my opinion - I cannot help but wonder if the Air Force One contract going to airbus was somehow based on certainly people having an understanding this was how things were at Boeing, and determining there’s no way in hell they’ll use their planes for the next generation.
  18. It’s hard to see how Boeing survives this. It may survive via government takeover, or total rebrand and reorg. But it’s in for a rough ride. DOJ criminal investigations consumers avoiding flights with their planes carriers halting orders It’s going to be hard to get through all that
  19. The EU leads the world in data privacy laws as well. It’s yet another sign of how dysfunctional our government is.
  20. The changes at the RNC are nuts. and it looks like a version of the project 2025 stuff. What team Trump is doing the RNC, is exactly what they will do to the federal government if they win. from where I sit - if they win, and are successful, and decide to cancel the 2028 election for whatever reasons they come up with, I’m not really sure who’s left to stand in the way. giant conspiracy theory, I get it, take it with a grain of salt. But that’s what I see at the moment. The RNC is a template for project 2025, on a smaller scale and easier to do because the power dynamic is way different than federal government.
  21. I don’t think Biden got it easy. I think he was treated the same way every other president was treated, except for this special counsel investigation nonsense which I assume was only done because of what was going on with Trump. And if Trump had turned the documents over when requested, in their entirety, he would have also been treated the same way. You can gripe about that because ultimately a run of the mill defense contractor or other government employee likely wouldn’t be treated the same way. There is a level of special treatment when dealing with former presidents or VPs, you can hate it all you want but it’s a fact of reality you cannot deny. But at the end of the day there was a standard process for this, which has occurred with every outgoing admin since the presidential record act, and nothing was alarming. Until Trump decided to lie about it, and then try to hide the documents, and have official sworn statements turned over that were (at the time they were made) known to be false. It’s incredible to me how this, what seems to be very basic, understanding of the differences and how events played out has escaped so many people. From the public to the media. Even people that are anti Trump seem to have trouble with it sometimes.
